This was an enjoyable surprise. One part Visual Novel, one part Strategy Role Playing Game. Add in some impressive battle scenes and anime graphics and you have a Science Fiction tale that delivers. Earth is under attack by Relayers - a humanoid race from the stars that seeks to extinguish all life and expedite the destruction of the universe. You play as the Star Children, gifted earthlings with the power to combat this threat with mechanical robtots called Stellar Gears. The main character, Terra, an amnesiac Star Child who lost her sister Luna in one of these attacks a couple of years before is thrown into the conflict again when the moon gets attacked. What happened to her sister and why are these aliens really attacking. Who can be trusted and what are the ulterior motives of both sides of the conflict? Be Prepared for great battles and some pretty long story scenes. The character designs are beautifully drawn and the voice acting (especially the Japanese) is well done from what you would expect in an anime. The music is also very heroic and something expected of a SciFi RPG. The battles I have played so far are also pretty balanced and require a good strategy of offense and defense during turns. Even though it is 59.99, this is a special limited release of the game (it was digitally released a few months ago), so I would pick this up if you are fan of these Japanese types of games.

My expectations were not high do to it being a game made with a lower budget despite being from Kudokawa. They are more known for anime and they also own FromSoftware. This is a turn-based Tactical RPG using mecha. The designs are more like a mash between Xenogears and Gundam. The inbetween scenes are more like hand drawn static images. If you are used to some older graphic novels, that is what you should expect. No major cinematic scenes in this one. The graphics are have a wide range from okay to amazing. The gameplay itself is not bad. The attacks have some nice animations and you can spend a good amount of time on strategy. You can some over the top style of attacks that will make you smile every now and then. A major plus is so far I have not seen any fanservice. I was really nervous about that with the character models. Outside of the basic designs, which I am not a fan of, they seem to leave it at that. Nothing like swimsuits or trying to show a lot of skin for no reason. I hope this motivates other companies that have made Turned Based Tactical RPGs like this, that people will play them on PlayStation 4 and 5. I also hope that Kudokawa keeps at it. For a first for them, this has a lot of potential. It has been much better than I expected it to be and I am quite happy with my purchase.

Good tactical rpg. It is a little difficult to face units the way you want sometimes but other than that the game is spot on. Plus it has mecha.
