    1st Time Playthrough: Whoa!

How the heck did I not play this game back in the day? I played RE1-3 and 6 (wah-wah) and thought those games were good of course, including 6 (I'm one of few that actually like 6)! However, I never got around to finishing 4 or 5. I can say that the pacing, the enemy and level design, and boss fights in 4 are fantastic! The story line is also quite easy for me to follow which can be difficult for me for other games. Also did I mention that I've played every version of RE4 available but just never beat it? This version is the supreme version: the hd graphics and mechanical improvements are outstanding! I just beat this game and now truly understand why this game is a treasure for a lot of people-it certainly had me blown away the whole time except in the beginning when I was trying to get used to the dated controls. If there are any of you still out there that haven't yet played this, I highly recommend it!

I got this game originally on the Game Cube in 2005 and loved it. I am a huge Res. Evil fan and had to get it on the PS4. There are some parts that are very challenging. The look and feel of the game is great. The background sounds/noises are very chilling. It plays great. This is a great port-over to the PS4. The graphics are awesome as well. If your a Resident Evil fan you need to own it, even if you already have this on another system pick it up for the PS4. You cant beat the price to have it in your collection.

One of the few horror games that actually made me uneasy the longer I played. It’s combat and shooting isn’t fluid and that’s hows its suppose to feel. It adds to the realism and terror of being attacked. It’s not a run and gun. If your looking for a creepy story you’ll find it here. Loved it.

An amazing game regardless of platform

Suspensful, campy, and action-packed: Resident Evil 4 is all of these elements married in perfect harmony. There's a reason it's been remastered and re-released on nearly every platform under the sun. Though some of the models and textures so their age a bit, it's still a great looking game, truly a testament to how far ahead of its time it was on the Gamecube. Just a heads up: If you've played this before, you'll reassociate with the controls fast enough. If not, there is a learning curve there. Leon (the protagonist) controls tanky and there is no free-camera control with the right analog stick. This DEFINITELY makes the controls feel antiquated. That said, it's something you just get used to. Subsequent playthroughs and side missions are made more enjoyable with the purchase of overpowered weapons (a series tradition) offering a great sense of catharsis and adding to the replayability. It's a LOT of game for $20.

Hailing back to my GameCube days is always a pleasure, and this game does just that. Everything is as I remembered while looking amazing in HD. It's funny to see just how great this game is when compared to the travesty that ended up being RE6, despite having an excellent template to build off with both 4 & 5. A great title to have in your library.

Epic classic survival horror in Remastered glory

I have played numerous versions of this game all the way back to the Gamecube original. This edition is remastered and is presented to run on current consoles with an updated resolution and higher framerate. The game is excellent at pacing. There are times when you are walking down a quiet hallway and just a few enemies come out to fight and there are times when you are surrounded by enemies and some higher forms which take more damage to take out. This is by far my favorite Resident Evil next to RE2 and the RE Remake. RE 4 is the best at creating a mood of angst and tension all the while providing excellent action sequences and some downright fearful moments. While the graphics now do show their age, being at a higher resolution does allow for the presentation to still run smooth. The atmosphere is dead on classic Resident Evil and does evoke a sense of fear and when you beat a boss, triumph. While the game does present a challenge, it is rewarding when the task is completed. I would highly recommend anyone who is fan of action and or survival horror to purchase RE 4.

    New Residents Different Evil

First arriving in 2005, Resident Evil 4 has made it’s way from the Gamecube, to the PS2, & Wii across the years, & is now stopping on the PS3 & PS4 in the form of Resident Evil 4: HD. The most notable change you’ll find here are the touch-ups in the visual department alongside all the features of the PS2 & Wii versions including Separate Ways & the added weapons & costumes from those versions. In terms of the visuals, Capcom has touched them up a bit, but it’s something that is noticeable being compared with the PS2. It’s not enough to garner a wow factor like the , The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection but it’s also something not really needed since Resident Evil 4 has always looked really good. The game plays just like you would expect, & includes a new control scheme that is based on the controls from Resident Evil 5. You could either use the triggers to aim & shoot, or use the buttons in a way similar to the Gamecube’s setup with the two control schemes available. If you've never played RE4, you’re in for quite a treat. You may have read about Resident Evil 5 during it’s release & how gamers wished it was more like RE4, so now you can try out Resident Evil 4 for yourself & see what all the fuss was about. This game was pretty scary when it arrived in 2005, but now so much has changed since then in terms of horror games that it probably won’t make you jump, but it still has it’s moments. It was pretty surreal to be playing this game on the PS3 & earning trophies , which there are only 12 for this game. Most are given out by completing certain points in the game, & others will require a bit more effort. Those that have played through this game countless times will easily be able to unlock them, & others will appreciate that most will add about 50 or so gamerscore to your tally. For $20, fans will enjoy going through this game once again, & those that have never experienced Resident Evil for themselves can find a nice action game with tense moments, & one that is pretty lengthy on the first play through with plenty of modes to play that add to the game’s replayability.

    A Good Remaster

4.5 out of 5 stars. This is a pretty good remaster with only a few weird things that got missed like the 30fps animations on the rifle reloads and the sped up swaying on the pistol (that I guess only happened to some but definitely happened to me). However, I will say that while I was replaying it, it didn't live up to the nostalgic filter that I had with my memory of it. Clunky controls, bad dialog, and an annoying Ashley are just a few of the problems that my memory just glossed over. That being said, those problems don't detract from this excellent port. If you would like to replay Resident Evil 4 on a modern HDTV, this is the best way to do it.

I had a lot of problem with the controls of this game on the PS2. They fixed it on the PS4 so it's more user friendly now. Resident Evil 4 is one of the popular Resident Evil in the series. It's worth checking out for sure.

This is the 2nd time i have bought this game, 1st for the PS2. Some of the controls are a little sluggish compared to the newer games but other than that, tons of zombie killing greatness

Without question the Graphics are huge upgrade with better FPS, faster load times seeing that this game is running on a much more powerful machine that when the original version released. Everything just looks and runs smoother & is definitely worth picking up for a throwback playthrough at a low cost of 11.99 with gamers club while it was on sale. So, why dust off the old console to play this when you can get it on the current gen system.

I've beaten this game like 15 times, have bought it for every console since PS2. The story is great and thrilling. A big plus are the graphics, which are obviously better than the PS2 version, but also from the PS3 version, which I had bought also. It was a surprise since I expected the graphics to be the same as the PS3, but they're better. Great game definitely worth playing even if you haven't played the first titles.

Resident Evil 4 still feels good, and being able to have 60fps and 1080p on the PS4 makes it a beautiful display, even with the GameCube-era graphics. Still, I would liked more improves done to the title – the 30fps animations for reloading still remains – since it’s been 11 years from the original release. If you haven’t played Resident Evil 4, then go for it, because this is one adventure that you will most likely love.

My first experience with this game was 12 years ago on GameCube and it holds up today. Graphics are as to be expected but it's all about classic gameplay that matters. Sure Leon controls like a tank but there's a degree of charm, like classic Universal monster movies. It's saying something when an oldschool game like this can be so fun to play over those. . .'newer RE games'. ;)

Still a solid Resident Evil Game

Considering that this is a port of the PC version, Resident Evil 4 HD for the PS4 is still a solid game for today standards. Graphically, the game looks good with slight HD enhancements. The one thing worth mentioning is that the controls will take some time to get used to. This was originally a Gamecube game and its control system can feel a bit archaic compared to modern action games. At its core, this is still Resident Evil 4 with the great gameplay it is known for. If you have not played it before, this would be a solid way to experience it.
