However, some customers expressed concerns regarding the limited ammo supply, the game's difficulty, and the lack of enemy variety. The effectiveness of boss fights also received mixed feedback. Resident Evil Returns
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm old. I was in sixth grade when the first Resident Evil came out on the original PlayStation. It was terrifying. Unfortunately, as the years continued, Resident Evil turned left when it should have gone right. It went action when it should have stuck to horror. While there were some good action based Resident Evil games, it wasn't the same. The action, at least for me, made me care less about the stories, and the less I cared about the stories, the less I played. Fortunately, Resident Evil 7 returns to the survival horror genre. I was skeptical of the first person perspective, but it works, so much so that I decided to buy PlayStation VR to take it one step further. Despite some odd VR choices, it was a much better experience. Better controls, better immersion, but thats a whole other review entirely. Resident Evil 7 breathes new life back into the stagnant franchise with a great story and great atmosphere. If you can handle the horror, I highly recommend it.

Intense! - Warning
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not a die hard Resident Evil fan. However, with that said, this game is very intense when using the VR goggles. The close quarters and always looking over you shoulder, dark images, narrow hallways, just raises the hairs on the back of your neck. This game is not meant for young children and it will give you nightmares. The start of the game is very slow, but picks up once it finishes the opening tutorial and sets the stage of what is to come. Now the warning, if you don't have VR goggles, this game is probably like all the other Resident Evil games and it is nothing exciting and is far from being intense. With the VR goggles you are in another world. The movement and interface is a little clunky, but manageable. The VR goggles pushes this to a new level and puts you in the action and it makes you want to do all those silly things like jerk your head backwards, throw your hands up and jump backwards. Now, I absolutely get motion sickness from playing the game and feel nauseated for hours afterwards. So please be aware of this or you may be blowing chunks after a session or two. With the graphics being very graphical and the running around and constant looking around, and close up fighting, my stomach hated me for hours. Have a barf bag nearby.

The Best Horror Game that i have ever played
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I disliked every Resident Evil game since Resident Evil 4. Okay 5 was okay. This game feels like a complete different direction. It is a scary horror survival game. They did away with the action oriented versions like 4,5, and 6. This game will give you the movie theater "jumps". It contains a good story, and the gameplay switched from 3rd person to a 1st person perspective. Haven't beaten it yet, but I'm enjoying the journey.

An engaging game that dissapoints in the end
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hoping REVII would live to the hype and appreciated the developers trying to stay fresh by adding in a new element to the series by going first person. However, the series for myself fell flat at almost every turn. Playing on Normal in my first run, the enemies weren't that difficult, the boss fights were not really engaging, and the scares and ability to keep you on the edge of your seat just didn't exist. What kept me intrigued with the game and to continue playing was the story line, however even that fell flat at the end. At several points during the game, the dialogue takes you out of the immersion because things are said by the main character and others that any real person would never say. And that itself would work fine if the game had not been trying to set a serious tone. There were also several points in the game were things went answered, or more just were dropped completely or ended in an abrupt manner as to just do away with it to continue the story. All in all, the game is okay. Its not a terrible game, its just a disappointment all around and RE fans of old looking for a return to the series original will not find it here. This game is worth a play, but save it for when its on the cheap.

Awesome Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Man scariest game ever, Im not sure where to begin but be warned if you are easily frightened you might want to make sure to have friends close by to pull the plug, NUFF SAID!!! But if you are brave then play it at night with all the lights out alone and see if you can pass the first stage. Awesome game play sound and graphics. You can easily get lost in this game for hours.

The series is no longer a thing to be dismissed.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Resident Evil franchise has been in trouble for a while now. While a change to pace in Resident Evil 4 that was amazing, Resident Evil 5 and 6 were just downright disappointments. From a lackluster story and campaign down to the ways in which the series chose not to continue to innovate the series was in trouble. Resident Evil had very much lost touch with it's origins. Enter Resident Evil 7. While it has been very polarizing with it's FPV camera angle and aggressive story pacing it has settled in on one of the most important key elements. To scare the heck out of you. And it will do so time and time again with it's terrifying atmosphere and sinister story. Which by the way is one of the better ones of the Resident Evil canon thus far. So be sure to check it out and if you're feeling extra brave make sure to try it in VR with Playstation VR if you can find one.

A welcome return to survival horror.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After Resident Evil lost its way, moving more and more towards action, it finally brings us back to what made it famous...horror. Expertly crafted visually and perfectly tuned audio make this a truly suspenseful game. If you can, the way to play this is in VR. 2d will certainly be fine, but I cannot express how well this game lends itself to VR...if you set the camera movement properly (normal turning, set to 10, no camera acceleration should keep the motion sensitivity at bay). I can't imagine a better game for VR w a headset...you likely will be terrified. You ARE IN that creepy house. Overall better, yet familiar, type puzzles await. Prepare to run, hide and be stalked, not fir the weak of heart. Gameplay is solid and there is enough here to keep it all interesting as you progress. Details are hard to reveal without spoilers. Fans won't be disappointed.

Resident Evil meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have played Resident Evil since the first one came out on the original Playstation. While we have seen the series make changes over the years, some better than others, this change is one of the better ones. Yes it goes back to being creepy like the first one, but a different kind of creepy. Instead of zombies and a creepy mansion scaring you, a crazy family AND monsters in a creepy house scare you in this one. So far, I have encountered some scares like the first Resident Evils, and some big time action like in Resident Evil 4, a nice combination so far. I was hesitant initially by the switch to first person view, but it actually works very well here, and I haven't missed the 3rd person view at all yet. I'm about halfway through the game, and I can already fully recommend it to any Resident Evil veteran or newbie. Warning, heavy on the gore though.

Resident Evil Back To Its Roots
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Back to its original roots. Making this the best survival horror and Resident Evil game of all time. Excellent story, perfect pacing, great controls and the scariest game I have ever played. A masterpiece. VR is the definitive way to play the game.

Great VR HORROR GAME on PS4 PRO
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is resident evil redefined. All in first person with VR and it looks incredible. It also looks amazing on a regular ps4 with HDR or a ps4 pro with 4k HDR graphics. I stuck to VR as the game is so immersive thanks also to the 3d audio that is excellent with creaking floors and the crazed family as well as the molded creatures making all types of horrific sounds. A modern masterpiece and easily 2017 s game of the year. It took about 15 hours all the way through and this spring there is a free update with a new storyline. The dlc is also great that provides two new chapters and a replayable mode. I would give it a shot the purists hate the new 1st person perspective, but when you play deeper you realize this is classic resident evil, inventory screen, herbs, horror, mansion type environment and much more personal story as the original was.

A return to true horror.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Resident Evil 7 brings back so many great memories of Resident Evil 4. The gameplay is solid, with just the right amount of combat and story. The shooting mechanics feel great. The premise and setting are excellent and the main character is designed to make you feel like you're actually him, trying to solve this mystery and get the heck out of this horrid place. There are several types of guns, there's a crafting system, upgrade system and more. The depth here is perfect. The game's pacing and progression are also to be commended. The linear style makes for a tight and well balanced experience. The game is very scary. It's mainly because of the feeling of something following you or stalking you. Even the boss battles are scary because of the sounds they make and the way they move. I like the variation of enemies too, from humans to monsters.

A fantastic return to form for the horror series.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You have once again entered the world of survival horror. Resident Evil, for many horror fans, has gone off the rails in its last couple of releases by leaning into the action more than horror. Capcom has finally listened to the fans and brought us back in for a terrifying night trapped in a house with a psychotic family known as the Bakers. You play as Ethan who is looking for his missing wife and ends up in a nightmare with her captors. But what is really going on here? You will have to brave the horrors to find the truth. Utilize weapons and your wits to stay one step ahead of the family and the creatures in the basement. With some light puzzle solving and the scares to keep you on your toes, Resident Evil 7 is an amazing return for the series. If you are an RE fan or a fan of horror games you need to play this!
