The best RE has been since 4. Deftly combines the horror aspects of 7 with the more action oriented design of 4-6.

Solid game, felt like Resident Evil 7 but better in almost every way. Issues I had is they make it a bit linear in that areas you were in get blocked off way too often so you can't go back and check for anything, and the Mercenaries mode is weaker feeling than the one in 4-6.

A very good mix of RE4 and RE7. Very well-paced and fun campy story. Sits among the best of Resident Evil games.

RE8 is technically a sequel to #7. However, #8 doesn’t have the horror focus. I didn’t find any part to be scary. This is a pure action game- FPS. It’s good at being an action game, but I missed the horror. There are a better variety of enemies than #7. There are some puzzles- but they are quite easy- and I’m not the best puzzle solver. Like most RE games there’s quite a bit of backtracking. There are several twists and turns that I didn’t see coming- that was probably the best part. Although the ending had some over the top components- I found it to be satisfying. It’s a short game- only took me 6hours 39minutes. About the same length as #7. It does imply a sequel after the credits- but not with who you might think. Overall I’d recommend it if you like action/shooter games. But if you want horror, then it’s not going to fulfill that need. I didn’t think it was nearly as good as #7. I’d give it an 8/10 or 4/5.

Awesome game. A must have for any Resident Evil fan. The colors in this are fantastic and graphics are very well done.

If you played resident evil 4 or 7, you're sure to like this game. The atmosphere and environment has a RE4 feel as well as the character who references the og merchant. The gameplay and puzzle aspects of RE7 have only been improved on with some horror elements.

If you enjoyed the action of resident evil 4 and the series return to its horror roots in resident evil 7 then this game is a must play! I think this is my favorite resident evil to date. The graphics, setting/ environments, sound engineering and gameplay make for one of the creepiest and memorable experiences in the resident evil universe! Please make sure to play this game on a next generation console or pc for the best experiences

RE:8 is a great continuation of Re:7 continuing the story of Ethan Winters, including all plot points of every character concluding to a great story. Village itself is full of terror, action, and mystery. For any Resident Evil fan this is a must have.

Excellent game. The story and atmosphere is very good and the combat is great as well.

I was really looking forward to this game. After playing 7, I thought, "Man that was a really good game, I wonder how they would improve on it." Which they did, amped up the "scariness" and created a really unique atmosphere. And the main antagonist, like she was SUMTHING I TELL YOU WHAT. Besides that, I would like to thinks that if you enjoyed 7 you would have already gotten this game.

There's a lot to say about this game. If you're a fan of the Resident Evil series, like me, just buy Village. There's enough to it that correlates with the RE stories to enjoy it. It's first person like part 7, but mixes a lot of concepts from part 4 and 6. As the creators said, it is less scary than part 7 in my opinion, but it did have a few good scares. The creatures are definitely overall less scary, and I found myself feeling like I was playing a Lord of the Rings game or something. Also, parts of it felt a little over-the-top actiony, like part 6. Lastly, it took me about 8 hours to finish first playthrough, which is a little short. All that aside, the game was by no means bad. Overall, I don't regret getting the game and definitely see myself replaying it multiple times.
