While RE7 scared me more, this game is so fun and still packed with some scares (one segment that might arguably be scarier than anything in RE7). It's not too long, and has tons of replay value for challenges and unlockable content in game. Recommend for any action or horror enthusiast.

What an excellent game. It's beautifully made, has great puzzles, scary, exciting, and totally enjoyable. I'm very glad that I was able to play it on release day and continue to replay it as its so much fun you can play it many times without getting bored.

I'm a little over 5 hours into the game and I haven't completed it yet, but I'm enjoying what I've played of it quite a bit. I didn't play RE7, but I wanted to dive into RE8 because of my love of RE4. When I saw the first trailer for RE8, I caught that distinctive RE4 vibe, and the game definitely doesn't disappoint in that regard. The games do play quite a bit differently since this one is first person, but the European horror vibe is strong, and the inventory management is nearly identical. Even the combat is somewhat reminiscent of 4 despite the perspective change. That said, the game stands out on its own, too, especially with the unique cast and monsters.
I wanted to comment on the PS4 version of this game, too. I'm very pleased with how well the game plays on the PS4. I was worried it would be bog down at times, but it looks really great and plays smoothly. The load times are noticeable, but really not that bad, and only when you load the game up to play.
Worth a full price buy if you're a big RE fan, a fan of RE4 or RE7, or really any horror games.

I've played all the Resident Evil games and with no doubt in my opinion Village is the best one. This game will scare you in several different ways (not for the faint of hearted) I wouldn't play this game alone at night. If your a fan of horror games you'll love Village

One of my favorite out of the entire series. I didn't play 7 because it didn't seem like a real Resident Evil to me...but this continuation of that definitely honored the series. Highly recommend if you're looking for good action a jump scare or two.

If you're into RE games, you really can't go wrong with this game. It is definitely in the vain of the more recent games, and not like the old school original games, but is an awesome follow up to RE:7. It does a nice job of bridging the stories of other games to this one as well, which is fun for longtime players. There is a lot of extra content as well.

Resident Evil: Village is a direct sequel to Resident Evil: Biohazard that was released 4 years ago. Once again you play as Ethan Winters, and it takes place in first-person (I still prefer the third-person style, but hey). Stunningly detailed graphics, solid gunplay, and a "just right" balance of atmosphere and action make this one of the best Resident Evil experiences yet. After the main story, there's plenty of extra weapons to unlock, and The Mercenaries mode even makes a return. The PS4 runs this one surprisingly well. The graphical detail seems identical to the PS5 version, with little to no pop-in of the assets, but...there are definitely some frame-rate dips here and there. I'd say things run at a respectable 40-45 fps most of the time, which is certainly acceptable. Highly recommended for survival horror fans.

Ok so I have two boys and the best thing in the world coming from them is screaming like little girls lol. Sony, please keep making the games like RE to make big kids scream. I’m glad these games keep up their stories going back to my teenage years BRAVO!

Good addition to the resident evil series. There are small hints of Resident Evil 4. Fun gameplay and excellent visuals. Plays more like Resident evil 7 and a little of 4.

This game is fantastic. Its replay value is astounding and the only flaw is the fact that when you finish a chapter, you cannot return to their dwelling to recover collectables. Other than that this is game of the year.
I would recommend this game.

After buying and beating this game, I can say it was worth it’s price. The game has a more refined combat system. blocking is more useful with the push mechanic, the guns are more varied, though they did take out the flamethrower. Resident evil 8 takes a different approach to horror, the jump from Louisiana to a Romanian village means the horrors of the bakers house like is mold monsters and the disgusting, decrepit houses are gone. Resident evil 8 has a more gothic horror with giant castles, unused dungeons, a water mill, metal factory, a eerie house on a hill and some remains of a village. They nail this tone by making every building in the village feel empty and show the horror that happens there. Without getting into spoilers the castle has this time the best with its many layers show how the monsters see humans.
