Customers consistently note the excellent sound quality and comfortable fit of the 500 Pro HX GEN 2 Xbox Gaming Headset. Many appreciate the lightweight design and Dolby Atmos integration, enhancing the overall gaming experience. However, some users express concerns regarding the inline volume control and the permanently attached cable. The bass response is also a point of contention for some customers.

Got home after buying the headphones and squad up with my people on fortnite and they were hearing echoes and I’d tried Adjusting the settings for the headset. They will be returned tomorrow.

      Hi Watson,
We apologize you had a bad experience with your purchase. If you purchased new, you should have been sent new product. But please note, a 1 star negative review hits the product, not the seller. And this was clearly not a product issue. Thank you...RIG Gaming nacon-fr

Hands Down Great (for the 3D sound alone)!

Y'all, the 3D sound feature alone with Dolby Atmos should entice you to get this headset. If you're a serious gamer and you're playing a single player game it is important to hear sounds and identifying where they are coming from. When I went through the Dolby Atmos setup I was blown away with how great the sound was. I am not joking when I say you'll enjoy this feature. This is my first Rig Headset and I don't know why. Of course it is not wireless but this is not a big concern now that I am able to connect my headset to my controller and don't have a need to sit by my console. The construction and design is simple but built to last. So those of you with little ones who are tough on their gaming gear, this headset is for you. I wanted portability but as I'm looking at it I realize that there are some people who don't want to sacrifice great audio for longer lasting headsets. Trust me I know, I had little cousins who had headsets replaced every three months or so. The cushion is fairly comfortable and not something to write home about but I do enjoy them. Personally headsets with pleather make my ears sweat. Overall, a great headset with amazing audio that will be easy to toss in a bag and play games on the go or at home. A side note the mic doesn't give feedback and the sound was pretty crisp. I'm sold on this headset alone for the 3D audio features (it was creepy but cool at the same time).

Pretty good "gamerish" sound w/some fitment issues

In the exceedingly crowded sub-$100 gaming headset market, it is hard for a company to really distinguish itself from its competitors without doing something REALLY different or REALLY well. This is our second set of RIG cans, the first being a RIG 800HD Wireless (pictured next to the 500 PRO below) that I ultimately passed to my older daughter because they just weren't a good fit for me. But, I actually REALLY like the industrial styling and ultra-lightweight construction of the RIGs, so when it was time to find a new headset for my XBox, I thought I would give the RIGs another shot. Did the 500 PRO HX do anything well enough to elevate itself above the competition? As much as I wanted to like these for myself, sadly, I'm going to be passing these to my younger daughter as they still hit a bit wide of the mark (at least for me). Construction is something of a mixed bag. The metal headband feels comfortingly solid and durable, while the remainder of the headphones is a mix of plastic (solid and some cool-looking skeletal overlays), rubber, and pleather on the earpads. Fit and finish still feels tight and reassuring though...there is no plasticy creak when handling the headphones or fitting them to your head. Like those old Sol Republic headphones with their removable "sound engine" earcups, the RIG uses a removable earcup design for sizing adjustment. Instead of being infinitely adjustable, however, you pop the entire driver assembly into one of three large adjustment sockets on the headband (pictured)--this gives you three sizing options where the center of each earcup position is roughly 5/8" higher/lower than the others. It feels like an odd choice given the infinitely variable number of head sizes out there, and relatively limited range of vertical tilt you have to play with once the cups are in place; but in practice, I can't imagine TOO many people not finding one of the three earcup positions to their liking. The headband uses a suspension system featuring a long strip of padding with a pleather top and cushioned mesh bottom that encases and slides along a rubber suspension band running between both arms of the headband. The suspension system does a pretty good job of distributing the weight laterally across the top of your head, and the mesh helps prevent heat build-up, but I personally still found the band/pad a bit too narrow for my tastes--I started to develop some of the same hot-spots along the top my head (during long listening sessions) that I did with the RIG 800. The earpads are mesh on the surfaces that touch your skin, but they are pleather on the inside and outside--this probably accounts for some of the nice boost you get in the headphone's low end/bass performance. However, the pads themselves are not very deep and pillowy, nor are the openings for your ears very wide. Despite looking like they are reasonably large, these are definitely more of an on-ear, than over-ear headset. This turned out to be a deal-breaker for me because even with the RIG 500's exceedingly lightweight construction (they clock in at just over 300 grams), I found the clamping force on the outside of my ears--probably due to the rather unyielding curvature of the metal headband--to be excessive over time, enough so that I ended up giving these headphones to my 11 year-old daughter. For the record, she thought they were really cool and incredibly comfortable, but her head and ears are obviously much smaller than mine. This type of fitment and comfort issue is very personal so it may not be a problem for you at all; but because the pain and fatigue on my ears/lobes were so substantial, I strongly encourage you to try these on your own noggin (for more than just a few seconds in the store) before you sink your money into a set of your own. The headphone cable is relatively short, just under 4 feet, but that's perfect for hanging out the headphone jack at the bottom of an XBox controller without giving you several extra feet of cable that loops around your arms or lap while you're in the middle of a game. The cable itself feels reasonably sturdy, with flat construction and a rubber coating that seems to avoid kinking and nicely prevents any dramatic memory effects when the cable stays coiled up for a while. The inline volume slider assembly feels substantial, though the little grey volume slider control itself feels a little more thin and plasticy. However, the slider's resistance is comfortably tight enough that you don't have to worry about the control (and therefore the volume) changing positions on you while you're moving around, and it features a slight click-lock near the top of the slide to keep the volume control in place at the maximum setting--nice. The shell surrounding the 3.5mm combo-plug is fairly thick and just slightly on the longish side; I don't have exceedingly large hands or long fingers, but I kept brushing past the plug with my fingertips when I was using the rear paddles on the Elite controller. This may not be a problem for many people, and maybe not for you at all if you don't have additional paddles/levers on the backside of your controller, but a plug with some sort of low-profile construction (maybe a right angle?) might have been preferable to help keep it from feeling like it was in the way. The cable itself is also captive at the back of the left earcup; if the slider or combo plug develops an issue down the road, the entire headphone is scrap because the cable is not user-replaceable, which feels like a bit of a missed opportunity. Mic quality was actually VERY good with none of the tinny, watery, or metallic sound I've often found in entry to mid-tier gaming headsets. The microphone features a nice, reasonably long and sturdy boom that resolutely stays in place once bent into position--another definite plus over some of the other less sturdy boom solutions I've seen with similarly priced gaming headsets. The boom tip/microphone itself is covered with a long foam windscreen...time will tell how long it lasts because the foam is quite thin, but it does help cut down on wind/breathy sounds during the heat of battle. The lift-to-mute system is nothing new but it works well. The only problem here is that the boom is very long, enough so that if you have bent the mic towards your mouth (and I can't imagine you wouldn't), it may well hit your forehead or even your eye when you raise the mic (as it did with me). This meant I was constantly adjusting the boom before raising the mic, and again after returning it into position for use--it may not be a big thing, but it was intrusive enough at times to make me take notice. The mic is removable with an idiot-proof locking socket system that means you'll never try to attach it upside-down (pictured), but once it is attached, the fitment is quite tight and firm--I was actually nervous I might break the assembly the first time I tried removing it after installation. All of this is not to say the RIG 500 PRO isn't a good-sounding headset--it certainly is. Bass is pleasantly powerful without excessive bloat, and is accompanied by what seemed like a gentle but noticeable roll-off on the top end. This made the headphones sound a bit less sharp and detailed when playing high-quality music in pure stereo; but for the money, the sound signature was very pleasing and appropriately tuned to maximize the impact and enjoyment of most modern games or videos/movies (for critical music listening, you're probably not streaming your tunes through an XBox controller anyway, right?). A scratch card is included in the box for a 2-year activation of Dolby Atmos that works on the XBox and Windows 10--the simulated 3D soundfield it creates can be very compelling. With Atmos engaged, sound-source localization is very accurate and discrete; panning across the soundstage is smooth and realistic relative to onscreen movement, and the sense of depth and spaciousness definitely adds to a game's atmosphere in a convincing fashion that doesn't get overly hollow or stadium-like "echoey." Between consoles and Windows, I have most of the big-name 3D soundfield simulation apps: Dolby, DTS, THX, WavesNX--and of course some of the other freebies like Windows Sonic, Nahimic, or Razer Surround--and of the various simulated surround sound apps and solutions out there, I have generally found that Dolby Atmos 3D, and the Waves NX solution in the Audeze Mobius, offer the most convincing and enveloping 3D audio environments for video games--so you're definitely in good company here if 3D sound is what you're after (IMHO). I don't mean to be as hard on the RIG 500 PRO as this might come off sounding because they really do offer some great audio performance, especially for the asking price. However, the fitment and some of the usability issues I noted during my audition were simply too substantial to ignore, and are definitely enough to make me hesitate to recommend to anyone strictly as a blind buy.

Great sound and super comfortable. I use them with Xbox and Dolby atoms software. Love the sound profiles. Love the adjustability. Headset fits comfortably and doesn’t give me much fatigue even during 4-5 hour sessions. The ability to simply flip the mic to mute is clutch and the inline volume controls are great. Highly recommend.

Surprisingly good sound quality but also surprisingly uncomfortable as well lol, the clamp force is bad like turtle beach and the ear cups are kinda small feels easily breakable like razors black shark but yet the v2 is way more comfortable and has just as good sound quality. I’d say overpriced sadly too just a little.

So i have had mine for just under 2 months. They are worth the 50 bucks. Just a few days ago though my cord got a short in it. Now when i use the mic in multiplayer it makes popping noises. I cant hear! My buddies can and thats worse. Unfortunately bestbuy has 14 whole days to exchange it. So i called the manufacturer and they are replacing them. Id buy them again as of now. Not from bestbuy though. The headset is comfortable and the sound is great. The wire needs to be detachable though. Its the only bad thing i can say about them.

Great sound! The Dolby Atmos is really amazing. I have trouble hearing in my left ear, and even with that, this headset sounds fabulous. I'd say it's as good as $200 headphones that I've used in the past. Definitely worth the money

These are great. I was a little apprehensive because of the price, but they sound great and feel great. very high quality IMO. resizing them are a bit weird, it feels like they could break when you pull the ear piece out of the frame, but on the other hand it's a solid frame. I bought them for the xbox series X and they're awesome for it.
