Customers consistently note the excellent sound quality and comfortable fit of the 500 Pro HX GEN 2 Xbox Gaming Headset. Many appreciate the lightweight design and Dolby Atmos integration, enhancing the overall gaming experience. However, some users express concerns regarding the inline volume control and the permanently attached cable. The bass response is also a point of contention for some customers.

These are so much better than the previous old model. No more static sounds from moving the jack if you rest your controller in your lap. The previous model has a turn wheel that can hit your body and kept creating static sounds. They put the volume control now on the wire oh an they redid the cups so theyre even more comfortable than the previous older model although they are very tight over time.

Had a pair for less than 4 months before the cord got a short in it near the audio jack. Other than that, really liked the sound quality in game, party chat is a little iffy.

I owned the first Gen version of these and the new version, while mostly the same, seem to be more comfortable and sturdy so far. One of the things I love about the Rig is the way they adjust. Rather than the usual up-and-down sliding mchanism the Rig headset actually allows you to pop out the earcups and attack them higher or lower on the headband in one of three positions on each side. Then the sling that goes over the top, below the headband, stretches into the correct position for fine position control. The result is the weight of the headphones being supported by the soft headband rather than the hard portion sitting on top of your head. This, combined with the deep-cushioned earpieces make these especialy comfortable for long gaming sessions. Clamping force on the sides seems to have improved and is lighter, probably thanks to the all-metal construction now, not that I had any complaints about the first-gen. Sound quality is still the same, which is to say very good. While the overall sound is a little too warm and recessed for listening to music (which isn't what these are really for) gaming and movies sound amazing. They're obviously tuned with these in mind. Explosions and gunshots have a nice, punchy low-end, while everything else in the high end is tuned in such a way that you won't get fatigued listening for long periods. One area of concern for me is the cable. It's non-removable and seems a little flimsy. It's a flat cable and has an inline volume control that also feels a little janky. So far I've had no problems, but I would be concerned about the effects of rolling up the cable and tossing it into a bag to travel a lot. The headset itself, on the other hand, feels like it will stand up to a ton of abuse. The microphone swings up and down and is very flexible for exact positioning. There's a foam wind screen on it, which I can see falling off in a bag easily and becomming lost. I'm not sure how necessary it really is. I've had no complaints from anyone online about mic quality, so I'll take that as a good sign about sound quality! Included in the box is a code for Dolby Atmos for headphones on the Xbox One/S/X series. Once enabled the headphones really come alive and sound seem like they're coming out of the air around you more. This is great in FPS games where you can get a better feel for an enemy's postion in front or back, rather than just left/right. It also adds a more cinema-like dimension to movies! These have astandard mini-plug so they can be plugged into ax Xbox controller, or really any other device with a normal headphone jack. They should be usable with most devices, but check to be sure first. Overall the Rig 500 Pro is a good value if you're looking for something comfortable and rugged with good sound quality for gaming and movies.

Quality Gaming with Dolby ATMOS (PC/XBox)

This is the second time I have owned a RIG Gaming Headset. My first RIG was a PS4 version, but now I am an Xbox gamer so was keen to test the RIG 500 PRO HX. Confort-wise, RIG headsets are hard to beat. Instead of a padded band resting on your head, it has this double band layer, with an elasticized band that fits to your head. It's much more comfortable and lightweight. The main reason to get the RIG 500 Pro HX is for Dolby ATMOS. The code works on Xbox or PC, but single-use. I decided to use it on my Xbox as I'm replaying Wolfenstein Young Blood and the game relies on stealth, so Dolby Audio and GOOD audio can make a difference in gameplay. The RIG Pro X delivers great sound and low-range audio (can hear NPC footsteps). I can see why RIG calls this a competitive gaming headset. If you're into multiplayer gaming the mic. is clear. You can flip up to mute and has good flex to get placement perfect. The watch out is this is a left-side mic only, it can't be rotated if you prefer a right-side mic. The other watch out is the volume control. The volume controller is a slider and is in line with the audio cable. The placement is OK, but it feels much less premium than the headset itself. The main RIG 500 PRO HX is all metal and nice premium soft-touch plastics, while the volume slider feels a little cheaper in comparison (and has a slight rattle but this is not something you hear during gameplay or use). It's not bad, but I feel this was a miss by RIG. Overall, a great headset for the Dolby ATMOS and excellent comfort. If you're OK with it being a left-hand side mic only and the slider volume, you will be happy.

Mic Broke In Under Three Months

Unfortunate, as this was a perfectly fine headset for work meetings/virtual calls.. until it wasn't. Mic worked in the morning, and by the afternoon had ceased to function. All cables are seated properly, drivers good. Contacted support since I'm well within the warranty period. I wasn't expecting a ton for $60, but more than a few months would be cool.

Headphones sound great, but need to be near max volume to get full effect. They fit a bit snug and can become uncomfortable during long sessions. Biggest drawback is for those utilizing the mic. As others have mentioned, the mic echo for others in your party is apparently pretty bad. Only way I found to get it to stop is to lower headset volume to a level below what I’d prefer.
