Customers are positive about the Kone XP's RGB lighting, button placement, and ease of use, with many praising its ergonomic design and responsive performance. The software is also generally well-received for its customizability and ease of navigation. However, customers are somewhat divided on the mouse's weight, with some finding it too light while others prefer a lighter mouse. The flexible cable is a frequently mentioned positive aspect.

Great stylish mouse
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have almost always used wireless mice and was worried that I might not like switching to a wired one. However, because of the soft fabric cable, I hardly ever notice it and have even forgotten that it had a cord a few times. The ROCCAT Kone XP also has a great button layout. I love the fact that I have five programmable buttons within thumbs reach and find that the bottom button is particularly useful. Each bottom is responsive and quick to use. I really like the glide pads on the underside of the mouse as well. It glides effortlessly across my mousepad as if it were ice. I also appreciate that it comes with an extra set incase they ever need replacing. The 3D RGB lighting systems is also very cool. Since the top casing of the mouse is semi transparent, it allows for the lighting to be seen all the way through the entire mouse. All the pre-made lighing options are great and the adaptive one is by far my favorite. Overall, I highly recommend the ROCCAT Kone XP for anyone looking to add a great mouse to their setup.

Functionality with Charm and Responsiveness
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first thing I noticed - after the RGB lighting, of course – was that the wheel has three important functions that save time when playing games that require quick response. It may save just a few milliseconds, but it made a huge difference when competing with other players. And because it is ergonomic, it feels good. My hands are starting to hurt after so many years of gaming and aging, and an ergonomic gaming mouse and keyboard have become essential to me. This Roccat Kone XP is perfect for my hands. I stopped counting after a while, but I believe there are 15 buttons, which are mostly useful although some are questionable for my specifics needs. The box says 29 button functions, and I got to admit I haven’t tried them all, but I was pleased with everything I tried. Customization is up to your imagination and needs. The look is good, and I would say that it doesn’t look like a typical gaming mouse when used with a non-gaming keyboard. The RGB lights are nice and not super shiny as you’d expect for this type of mouse, but I see it as a positive thing, because it doesn’t distract you. When used with a gaming keyboard with RGB, it blends nicely, whether the keyboard brightness is high or not. The lights are also customizable. Responsiveness and sturdiness, all requirements for gaming peripherals, are met by this mouse. Highly recommended. No cons. It’s wired, but for gaming, it’s best that way.

Cool Color, smooth feel, could improve look
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The mouse works great. It was easy to install - just plug and play. There are plenty of button options and modifications for custom functions. There are 15 total buttons and 5 at the thumb. There are 29 button adjustments you can do. It is a wired mouse, there is no wireless or bluetooth options. The lights all work well and are bright. Some of the standard color settings could be better. Also the lights/colors would look better if the cover was completely clear instead of cloudy or blurry. The buttons are all easy enough to reach with the fingers. The grip size is a good fit and the shape is ergonomic. The mouse has a smooth feel and touch and glides smooth over a mouse pad or desktop with no bumps or hesitations. I've had no issues with the cord or any mechanical functions. They are supposed to be heavy duty for long term use and hold up to wear and tear. Mouse clicks are audible for a defined feel vs a softer touch. In all a good working mouse with lots of custom options suited well for gaming.

A lightweight RGB alternative to 'normal' MMO mice
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Roccat Kone XP is the first mouse I have used from Roccat, and I've come away with a pretty good impression of the mouse itself. The Kone XP is a unique take on the MMO/MOBA mouse concept, using buttons spread out across the mouse rather than a 'normal' MMO mouse that just has a grid of 12 buttons crammed onto the side. Personally, I view the Kone XP as more of a MOBA mouse as the number of buttons doesn't satisfy the requirements of traditional MMOs with dozens of keybinds like WoW or The Old Republic. Here's where I am a bit frustrated with this product: my main negative take on the Kone XP is that Roccat is advertising it as having 15 buttons. That's really not true - the mouse has 15 "actions": 13 actual buttons plus mouse wheel up and down. I couldn't recall hearing of a mouse brand advertising their MMO/MOBA mouse using scroll up/down as buttons, so I went and looked at a few models' current advertising and did not see that other brands were doing this. So, keep that in mind when looking at the Kone XP for traditional MMO use - it has 13 actual "buttons", which is several fewer than the standard MMO mice you see from other brands. As a MOBA mouse, or for newer MMOs with fewer keybinds, this might be fine for you. With the negatives out of the way, the Kone XP is a great looking mouse, easily the coolest looking RGB mouse that I have used. With the lighting off, the smoky gray color looks very much like a standard black shell. Once the lights come on, they are very bright and shine through the entire shell in a multitude of patterns and colors. I especially like that Roccat has partnered with Dell/Alienware to include AlienFX compatibility with the AIMO platform - if you have a Dell G series or Alienware laptop, this mouse can integrate with your existing color profiles perfectly. Really, really cool. The cord is wrapped in a softer material than a typical braided cable - hard to describe, almost like microfiber to the touch. Weight is really good at just over 100g - this isn't an ultralight 'pro gaming' mouse, but it's quite a bit lighter than the two traditional MMO mice I have in the house (from different brands) and also 30% lighter than a wireless 'MOBA' mouse from one of those brands. With the added benefit of the PTFE pads and the "PhantomFlex" cable, this mouse feels wonderful on any gaming grade mousepad. The buttons use optical sensors that are extremely responsive (this is Nvidia Reflex capable, after all). The Roccat Swarm software has customization for both the polling rate and debounce time so you can fine tune that responsiveness as well. Same goes for the sensor lift detection - this isn't quite the best mouse I've ever used for lift-off, but it's really really good. In summary I think the Kone XP is great for a few different groups: 1) Dell or Alienware owners with AlienFX devices 2) MOBA or even RTS players looking for a highly responsive mouse with lots of customization options. 3) MMO players who are looking to move up to a 10+ button mouse for the first time, or players who have moved on to newer MMOs and don't need 17-20 buttons anymore 4) Anyone who can use an extra 5+ hotkeys for their workflow in the office and wants a beautiful RGB mouse

Very good mouse if your hands aren't too small .
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good gaming mouse for large hands. Feels solid and comfortable. It's ready out of the box, but with 29 button functions has plenty of customization options. Comes with software to customize it with or you can use the in game options. The buttons are solid and convenient with 5 thumb buttons. The wheel works great whether scrolling or leaning around corners. This mouse is fast and responsive having 19,000DPI Owl-eye sensor. The cord is a nice length and flexible. Glides on mousepad smooth. The 3-Dimensional lighting is pretty and gives it a nice look. The logo looks nice. Includes an extra set of feet. If you have smaller hands, shorter fingers this mouse might not be the right one. It can be uncomfortable and no matter how responsive the mouse is, it can't respond at all if you can't reach the button you need in time. If your hands are larger or fingers longer, I think you'll find that this mouse is very comfortable for long use. With a 100 million click-life cycle it should last a long time.

Nice gaming mouse and snazzy lightshow!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice corded gaming mouse with multiple programmable buttons, 15 total with multiple functions. This has the translucent ROCCAT shell with underlying lights glowing which we’ve seen in so many of their mice and seems to be their signature look. This unit has 22 LEDs in total for a truly stunning and completely customizable appearance. This mouse has super smooth functionality and high precision with its Owl Eye 19,000 DPI optical sensor. Scroll wheel is smooth and functions well as a simple scroll but can also manage left, right, and vertical clicks as well. This is a corded model but similar to their other mice utilizing the phantomflex cable technology the cord practically disappeared when in use. Long lasting, reliable and consistent clicks come standard with these optical titan switches boasting a 100 million click life cycle. ROCCAT AIMO illumination technology use 16.8 million colors through the 22 LEDs to give off a lightshow of colors. Also, completely customizable and can link up with other compatible devices in order to sync and have a flowing light color scheme to match up all of your peripherals.

Its a good brand
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is a great mouse, I love how it and other Roccat gear works together. The RGB lights do interesting things, and sync up between it and the Roccat keyboard I also use. Also, being able to mode-shift both with the thumb button is great for gaming.

Good gaming mouse
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ROCCAT Kone XP is a great gaming mouse with good performance and ample customization options. This mouse feels very nice in the hand. It is very light weight and just glides across the mousepad. If features customizable lights, and so many buttons I literally lost count. There are your two main buttons, a scroll wheel which can click, not only down, but also left and right. Never seen that before. Then there's two buttons toward the top of the left click, which by default control the dpi setting. Then just a little below those are four more action buttons. And down under your thumb is one last button, which acts as a "shift" button, which does as it sounds like, and gives all the other buttons a secondary action. Oh, and a profile switch button right in the middle. Honestly, this is a bit much for me. I tend to not even use the usual extra two buttons on most mice, so I don't even know where to start with all of these. However, surprisingly, they are not at all obtrusive, so if you're like me and won't have a use for them, they don't get in the way, and you can still enjoy this mouse. As far as performance goes, this is a fantastic mouse. As stated before it is nice and light and just glides like butter across the surface. I was able to play my usual games perfectly. The responsiveness is great, the cord is nice and flexible and doesn't get in the way, even when things get really intense. Overall, just a great performing mouse. If you want to start customizing it, you can install the ROCCAT software, which gives you access to customize everything about this mouse. Every single button can be given a custom function, and of course a secondary function when using the shift button. And, of course, you can customize the lighting, which is always nice. This particular mouse uses a very unique "3d" lighting that I haven't seen in any other mice, and it's a nice touch to stand out from those. Overall, this mouse is great out of the box, and will work for probably a majority of people, but if you really want to customize it and dig into all the features, the software is really robust, yet easy and intuitive to use. In conclusion, The ROCCAT Kone XP is a great performing mouse which offers a ton of features and customization. It's a great option if you are in the market for a gaming mouse.

A nice looking gamer mouse with lots of buttons
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Roccat mouse is a good looking design and the lights make it an impressive addition to a gaming desktop setup based on looks, but there are some things that make it less than ideal for serious gaming, despite its programmability and diverse button layout. First of all, this mouse has an excellent assortment of buttons for programming and excellent ergonomic locations for all of them. I can see programming this for different functions in a serious game like WoW or DOTA for keyboard functions and being able to play with the mouse much like a very different game pad. The buttons themselves though? Mostly mushy and the ones that aren’t extra rubbery and mushy are strangely crunchy and clickety (words are hard to describe this.) - These don’t lend themselves to a feeling of reliability or durability. Another issue- The mouse lacks any weight or substance and feels in the hand feather-light like a cheap OEM mouse. I’m sure keeping it hollow for lighting and neat-O good looks was a design priority but not adding weight to the mouse to make it feel premium and worth its price tag seems a poor choice. Competitive mice have additive weights to help with this. Fully expected it and was disappointed. This mouse DID come with something I’d LOVE to see in every mouse made - REPLACEMENT TRACKING PADS FOR THE BOTTOM!! They gave you an extra set of the glide pads as they do wear out with use, and can sometimes malform in use and cause “scratching” of the tracking surface. It would be awesome to get this with every mouse for longevity. All in all it’s an OK mouse that looks awesome and has lots of options, but I’m not sure it’ll hold up (save for the glide pads!!)

Precision at its finest!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Roccat Kona XP is the ultimate precision mouse. The super-slick "mouse feet" (once you remove the protective cover) provide a smooth mouse experience. It even includes an extra set should you somehow wear these out! The flexible, lightweight rope cord refuses to kink, and at 6 feet, is long enough for virtually any desktop scenario. The ergonomic design is not only comfortable in the palm of your hand, but also provides 15 customizable buttons for up to 29 controls. It also boasts a multi-button area near the thumb for additional comfort and convenience when you're deep into your game. The 4-D wheel has a rubberized texture which gives you precise control. It's fast, responsive and with the right/left lateral clicks you get additional functionality. The see-through case contains multiple LED's that create an unlimited "rainbow" of color, and a "3 dimensional" experience. It's a miniature light show in the palm of your hand. With a 100 million "click" life-cycle, you know it's built to last. The Roccat Kone XP is just one more way to raise your level of game play!

Nice Mouse
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great feeling wired mouse. Setup is easy in the sense you just plug it in and it works which is what I want in a gaming mouse. I want to plug it in and play. The lighting is also unique on it which is a nice touch if you want to go for an RGB neo-cyberpunk look. The switches on the mouse feel great and the weight is just right for me. I also have big hands and this mouse feels just right in it for me which is a nice touch. It is a standard Right Handed mouse so if you prefer left handing a mouse this won't work for you. This mouse has a number of buttons and installing the software can help you control/change what the 15 different buttons do including adjusting the DPI, though for my game play needs it works fine out of the box, which good feel and and nice clicks. It was also nice to see a spare set of glide pads to be included with the mouse. Its nice to be able to extend the life of the mouse by swapping out the old pads because I have a spare set then worrying about it down the road.

This one just is not for me.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Visually this mouse looks great after getting the LED backlighting programmed but you still have to contend with a mouse cable to connect it to the computer. I would love to see the LED backlighting available in a wireless rechargeable mouse... but this is not that device. So If you like your gaming rig flashy and shiny and distracting when it's just sitting there doing nothing, this mouse is for you. Unfortunately too much of the software on this thing is not compatible with basic windows OS mice drivers which means that when you plug it into your computer, nothing works until you install the software driver that ships with the device. I think you've failed as a mouse manufacturer if your device requires drivers to provide basic mouse functionality. Once you get the drivers installed, the unit works as designed. I found my thumb accidentally pushing too many of the buttons accidentally, especially in the heat of the moment during gaming matches which was terribly frustrating. I just feel like there's too many buttons on this thing. It's not a keyboard. It's a mouse and I'm a bigger fan of keeping it simple then adding more hardware buttons. But I'm an older gamer so perhaps that's just me.

Posted .Hi and thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you are not fully satisfied with the mouse. The Kone XP is designed to be used as a plug and play mouse, meaning no driver software is required, although we recommend installing it for full access to all customization options. It seems that you have managed to get your mouse to work properly, however, should you still be facing compatibility issues, our tech support is happy to assist you in getting everything to work as intended. If you require help, please reach out to our team through the contact form on our official website. Additionally, while we understand that the amount of thumb buttons can appear unfamiliar at first, the mouse is specifically designed to feature more buttons for more options. If you are having issues getting used to those, you might want to look into the Kone Pro, which features a very similar shape with less buttons. Feel free to check with your vendor whether you can return the Kone XP and purchase the Kone Pro instead. By the way, there's a wireless version of the Kone Pro, too, called the Kone Pro Air.
