Hi and thanks for choosing ROCCAT. We are glad you generally enjoy your product, although your rating suggests otherwise. We do understand that having wrist pain is an issue, though. However, the keyboard's feet have three different levels, based on your review you have only tried the full extension or none at all. Please check if extending only the small feet (within the bigger ones) helps your wrists. Otherwise, if you have any questions or need help with your ROCCAT product, please feel free to contact us using the contact form on our official website.

Love this compact colorful backlit keyboard. No fluff. No apps to download. No extras. Just plug into your computer or laptop and it is instantly ready to use.
I find that these light up keyboards can be slightly heavier than regular keyboards, but the reduced size of this keyboard helps to keep the weight down. It still feels sturdy and solid. It’s perfect for my son who couldn’t wait to have a customizable light up keyboard for every day use and his gaming setup.
He is smaller for his age and the compact form of this keyboard allows him to keep everything he needs closer in reach. The keyboard offers secondary functions to account for the sections they removed to make it much smaller which is great. The cord (usb-c) is a good length so you’re able to have some distance between the screen and keyboard. The buttons feel natural with every keystroke, and he enjoys hearing the quieter sounds of each key when pressed. The keyboard is very fast and responsive during gameplay and regular typing.
The colors are super bright. Even during the daytime. In a darkened room it’s just fantastic. The color transitions aren’t too fast or slow. The gradients are nice with seamless transitions. The most exciting part for my son is the capability to customize this keyboard to his liking. He can change out the keys to his favorite color and the usb-c cord is also customizable.
This is a game changer for him and I’m so happy that this compact keyboard has met and exceeded his expectations.

My Favorite Keyboard Ever

65% has got to be the perfect size for me. Obviously and sadly, I have to give up the numbers keys( Num-pad) to get that clevel of comfort, but it's definitely worth it. I've got a 60% keyboard on my other PC and I honestly am not crazy about, after using this one. I love the responsiveness of the clicks and feel of the key presses. Not to mention all of the multi-function smart keys. Comparing this to my 60% keyboard I like thee fact the it is optical functions vs the mechanical style from the other guy. The feet give two levels of height( 3, if you count the fully folded option.) FYI, the other guy has that height option as well. The back lighting of the of RGB shines through really nicely as the keys are risen to give that floating effect. Of course that's a feature that's also on my other /larger Roccat keyboard. A feature I really do like. Since it is a larger form factor than the 60% keyboard , I found that playing Spiderman felt better on the larger board. Again, the clicks just feel better. There can be 5 different profiles programed into this keyboard, allowing for multible players or multiple game settings, using Roccat's Swarm HUB. Inside the box is a simply the keyboard and braided USB C to A cable. It's simple plug and play( for me anyways, as I was coming from another Roccat keyboard.). I really like this keyboard. This is my favorite one , so far. Highly recommended, if I;m being asked.

Great experience, smaller footprint

I have a couple of the larger gaming keyboards, but in the last year I have been looking at getting a smaller keyboard. I want to free up more desk space, and realized I didn’t need a full-size keyboard, especially the one I have with the number pad.
I absolutely love this keyboard. Size feels just right, I doesn’t feel cramped, and I am able to still get work done on it without any issues. It took me a few minutes to adjust to the new keyboard, but that is true whenever I use any new keyboard. Setup was super simple plug and play. I already had the ROCCAT software installed for my Burst Pro mouse so the keyboard popped up in there and after a quick software update, I was able to start customizing the keys and lights.
The keys are great to press, they make a quieter clicking noise to what I am used to which is appreciated, especially for late night gaming sessions. I love that the keys can be customized with third party key caps, I already started shopping around for some to customize it. The keypress feels good, good key travel, and very responsive.
This is a great feeling keyboard with some great customization options, both for the keycaps and software. The smaller size is great for freeing up diskspace without having to sacrifice typing speed. This is an easy recommendation for anyone in the market for a smaller footprint gaming keyboard without compromising.

I think this is Roccat first mini for factor keyboard? i’m very glad to have this Vulcan 2 mini, i’ve moved on and mainly use 65% keyboard or TKL keyboard, so having this Vulcan 2 feels right at home. the look of Vulcan 2 is simplistic you have the aluminum top casing and the rest of the case is plastic, the keyboard fees thin and light weight, the gun metal aluminum top cover add to that premium look and it works, you can fully see all the RGB the key cap is thin that it helps the RGB shines so much more, and speaking of the RGB on this one Roccat says it’s the first 2 LED on each switch, all I can saw is wow, this lights does looks even better than all my standard single LED per key.
it’s a whole new level of customization with Vulcan 2 the amount of color combinations you can do is now even more insane considering you have 2 LED per key, this hands down the most beautiful RGB keyboard i’ve ever owned. im still getting used to the distance of each key even tho I own another 65% keyboard. maybe is the thinner key caps but luckily its fully customizable so I am planning on replacing the stock key caps and making it my own.
the build quality I think it seems fine, even tho it’s a lighter keyboard It did not feel cheap, the click of each key cap sounded great using their Titan 2 optical switch.
couple negative things in my experience, from stock setting Vulcan 2 shift button on the top row was not responding at all, I wasn’t sure what cause this, i updated the keyboard to the latest version and there was no fix for some odd reason, I finally decided to reset the whole keyboard using the Swarm app and finally it’s working like it should, i’m also currently having a hard time trying to find how to turn off the light for media button, right now it just stays on so picking a certain theme RGB lights it does not blend sync at all, it’s just a static light, so yeah the media and the profile are the same. wish there was an easier way and if there is I haven’t found it.
because Swarm app needs a new UX update or something, the app just feels so outdated compared to Razers app. I just don’t feel like Roccats app is that welcoming, obviously i’m having a hard time finding how to sync certain rgb lights but yeah this is not the first time i’ve downloaded Swarm and every time I see it I feel like it need some work, beyond having the ability to change lighting in the app, the app just seems bland for me, overall you guys should get Vulcan 2 I think it’s gonna be my new 65% favorite keyboard for this year. good job on this Roccat and please fix your app, it’s time for a refresh.

Hi and thank you for your positive review. We'd like to give a quick answer to the open questions you have. First, the Shift key not doing anything for the top row is likely related to primary and secondary functions of that row being switched. You can switch back and forth by pressing 'FN+Capslock'. Regarding the illumination of the multimedia keys (and any other smart keys), you can choose a custom color (or none) within the 'Smart Key Manager' inside Swarm. Simply select "Multimedia" on the left and pick the color you'd like for each function. If you have further questions regarding the setup of Smart Keys, we have an article on our support page about it and alternatively you are always welcome to reach out to our support team using the contact form on our official website.

Mechanical Similarities with Membrane Quietness

KEY FEATURES
Optical Switching Technology
Built-in 32bit Processor
Dual LED Illumination on Smart Keys
INITIAL IMPRESSIONS
This is a first for me in two different areas. The Vulcan II is not only my first 65% keyboard, it is also my first keyboard that utilizes optical switches for the keys. Ordering, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Being a keyboard snob, I don’t try new keyboards, as most fail to measure up. I have mechanical, membrane, and gaming keyboards from Logitech, Steel, Razer, and Corsair. It takes something different and unique to even consider my interest and the Roccat did just that. There are just enough unique touches that set the Roccat apart from its competition to make it a serious competitor and worth your look.
USE
The best experience of the Vulcan keyboard, to me, is the impressive Roccat Swarm software. I’ve noted in my other reviews, most manufacturers’ software is cumbersome, bloaty, and awkward. I’m squarely pointing the finger at Razer with this. While thorough, their software is a huge install and often a resource hog. Corsair iCue is a close second, with Logitech’s G-Hub much more refined and less resource hungry. I found the Swarm software easier to use and figure out than the Razer and Corsair software. It was more user friendly and demanded much less of a footprint on my system and its resources than either of the Razer or Corsair software. It is a nice, lightweight solution for Roccat’s peripherals.
One thing that immediately caught my eye, was this is the first keyboard with dual color illumination on the smart keys. So cool!! The lettering on the keys light up per the user’s created or selected effects, but the smart keys are programmable separately. The owner has the option of changing the lighting effects of the smart keys based on whether that function is active or not. Say you using the keyboard for music and you have the rainbow wave effect selected. As the keys cycle through their color spectrum, the user can program the smart, playback keys to light up a different color. Press the play button and the key remains synced to the effect, but the play logo on the bottom of the button lights up green indicating your music is playing. There are numerous buttons that can be programmed for various activities: gaming, surfing, music, movies, etc. It is slick and hope more manufacturers take note and start incorporating this feature.
NEGATIVES
This is my first 65% keyboard and it is taking me time to get used to it. It is much smaller compared to a full-sized keyboard. More like a small laptop. Typing on it, I am having to adjust my reach and finger placement to hit the proper keys. Being used to a normal sized keyboard, I often overreach the keys resulting in a slow, frustrating typing process. To be fair to Roccat, it is not a negative against the keyboard, it is user training. But, until I get used to such a small keyboard, it is frustrating.
The optical switches are awesome to type and game with, however the Roccat styling is another matter. The switches are configured quite differently than any other keyboard I’ve used or am currently using. I’m not referring to them being optical switches either. The Vulcan II Mini keys have what amounts to the top part of the key and nothing that encloses the switches. While it makes for a more interesting light show, having just the top part of the key with nothing on the sides feels quite odd.
MY THOUGHTS & CONCLUSIONS
Roccat has created an interesting product with the Vulcan II Mini. I applaud them for taking design risks and making a unique product that stands out in such a crowded field. The 32bit processor does a great job with the animations and lighting effects. The processor does make a noticeable difference in the overall look and feel of the lighting engine. Effects are smoother and more fluid than any of my Corsair, Razer, or Logitech products.
While I’m having trouble adjusting to the smaller footprint of the keyboard while typing, I have instantly become a believer in the 65% keyboards for gaming. All the whining I did about having difficulty typing does not apply to gaming. The shorter reach and smaller keys make for a much faster and more accurate gaming experience. I have long held the notion that all anyone ever really needs is a full-size keyboard, now I’m second guessing all my previous views.
I let my 12-year-old try it out. He had a full-size Corsair keyboard, but his smaller hands make it hard to type on and he never used it for gaming. It was too much of a reach to the keys to make it an effective solution. He always resorted to an Xbox controller. After trying the Roccat, he said it was the most satisfying typing experience he’s had yet (his words). Better than his old keyboard and better than the laptops at school. Even more importantly, he’s even begun using the keyboard now as his primary gaming controller and I am having to go track down the Vulcan when I want to use it. I don’t know what a better recommendation could be.

Solid compact KB

The Vulcan II mini solved my kb dilemma I've been having. Between multiple PCs and now game systems, I find myself taking my KB to different places. I currently have a full sized mechanical KB that has a very thick cable and 2 USBs to plug in to the PC. The Type-C cable with the Vulcan II mini provided is great, as it is long but slim cable, making it easy to just grab and go.
The keyboard itself looks amazing and was an initial selling point for me. Options for lighting and customization are fine, but app for the KB did not download and was confused on how to proceed because there was no information on it in the packaging, which I find very puzzling. Why not have something, even on the box for example, that says download for software? The paper that was included was not helpful. I can see people not fully using the KB or returning it, because of confusion.
The feel is very sleek and took some getting used to, coming from a full sized KB, was a fun time, other than the space bar seemed a bit touchy, but like I said, there is a slight learning curve. To help with this, there are multiple heights the KB can be propped up, which I appreciated.

Hi and thank you for your positive review. You can download the software 'Swarm' from our official website. We have checked the manual that is provided with the keyboard and while there is a note on the software, it can only be found at the very end, which makes it easy to miss. We are looking into this, so thank you for bringing it to our attention. If you have any further questions regarding the keyboard or the software, please feel free to check out the respective articles on our support page and/or reach out to our support team.

Solid little keyboard!

PROS:
- Small
- Vibrant RGB
- Optical switches
- USB-C connection
- Solid construction
- Compatible w/3rd party keycaps
- Two position feet
CONS:
- Keycaps are SMALL
- Keycaps collect oil easily
== SETUP ==
Just plug in the included USB-A to USB-C cable to connect your keyboard to your PC. You can download the Roccat Swarm software (for controlling RGB and key mapping), but isn't required to use.
One big reason to download and use Roccat Swarm would be for firmware/driver updates. Also, if you do swap out the included keycaps (like I did), you'll want to use Swarm to re-map some of the keys.
== BUILD QUALITY ==
The Vulcan II is SOLID! There is no flex to the deck, the switches are rated for 100 million presses, typing is quieter compared to other gaming keyboards, and I'm so happy that Roccat designed the Vulcan II to let you swap out the keycaps for whatever YOU want.
My biggest complaint about the Vulcan II is the included keycaps. I greatly dislike how small they are (I really don't like the large gap between the keys) and that they're almost glossy plastic (so they collect fingerprint oil as if it's their job). I posted two pictures: one with the included keycaps and the 3rd party keycaps that I installed.
== PERFORMANCE ==
There's not much to really go into detail here, Turtle Beach released a great little keyboard. I haven't run into any key press issues/bugs/problems since using this. All keystrokes have been correctly registered, even after swapping out the stock keycaps with ones that are noticeably heavier.
The RGB looks good right out of the box, even without using the Roccat Swarm software. However, Swam is worth installing for just the RGB controlling alone. I prefer to re-map certain functions, since I replaced the keycaps.
I really suggest that you give Swarm a try, it will help you get the most of the Vulcan II Mini.
== BOTTOM LINE ==
This is a great little keyboard for gaming (and school/work). I am so happy that Turtle Beach didn't go with something proprietary and lets you customize the keyboard however you want.
If you are looking to downsize from a full-size keyboard, this is worth taking a look. If your local Best Buy has a display unit, give it a try! Just remember that if you're not a big fan of the stock keycaps, you CAN replace them.

this has the best RGB of any keyboard ever made.
the clicks sound so amazing, it looks beautiful for a 65% keyboard the low profile key caps are great it has a middle grip in the back if you want to use it without the 2 feet so it won't slide back. make sure to download the software so you can turn off the 2nd led static lights on tab z, x, c keys or the RGB wave will be ruined! ='( it's under smart key manager then under audio controls and profile controls, turn the led brightness to 0 for those 4 keys.

When I purchased this item I thought I was actually purchasing a wireless one. Instead I purchased a wired one, originally I was going to return it but after just 5 minutes of using it I felll in love and couldn't let it go. Build quality is great, RGB is bright and beautiful with the lower profile keycaps, responsiveness is wonderful for gaming. Overall 9.5/10
