This is a great optical gaming keyboard. It has the same feel as my mechanical keyboard. It connects via a braided cord with a USB-A connector and is approximately 6 feet long. It seems very durable. Because it is optical, it is said you will get more life out of this keyboard than a mechanical one. This is to be determined by using it over time. This gaming keyboard is RGB which I love. The keys can easily be seen when in a dark room. Of course, it can be programmed for different lighting themes. This comes with a nice palm rest that magnetically attaches to the keyboard. If you don’t want to use it, just lift it off. This is an excellent feature compared to other gaming keyboards I have had. In the past, I have used regular detachable keyboards and had problems attaching and detaching it and even breaking off attachable pieces. Because it is optical, there is no delay when pressing a key. You can give it a light touch for faster speed, which is great for gaming and just about any typing you will do. Swarm Software is handy. You can use it to customize gaming profiles for all the different games you play or upload a profile you already have. There are 6 programmable macro keys you can set up also for even better gaming experiences.

I've always been a fan of RGB keyboards and all the settings and customization you can do with it, whether it's having the keys blink in alternating colors, go from left to right, or even flash every time you press down on the keys. The Vulcan Pro does this so so well. The build and feel of it is very professional and solid for the price--I would expect it to be an even higher quality product.than it actually is! Not to say it isn't, but for the price it's super good quality. The feel of typing down on it itself and the sound it makes is very satisfying. If you can (not sure if it's possible), go to a store to test it out first if you want to get a better feel for it. The detachable palm rest feature is an added bonus that wasn't even necessary but is a nice add-on. Overall, very satisfied with this product!

I have used a lot of different gaming keyboards and this one sits at the top with some of the best. The RGB is excellent and bright, the keys feel amazing and super responsive! I do all my gaming on PC and this keyboard performs wonderfully from FPS, MMORPGS to word processing. The build quality is great and rigid. Only thing I would like to see is a soft palm rest rather than just a piece of plastic. Just my preference though. All in all, if you’re looking for a top end, responsive and great feeling keyboard then pick this one up!

    Great Hardware, Software So-so

The keyboard itself is fantastic. I don't think I have ever seen a keyboard that looks so modern. The design and hardware are fantastic. Key travel is just about perfect. Great feedback on the keystrokes. The backlight is done really well. The cord is long enough without being too long. From a hardware side, the only thing missing is a onboard USB port and maybe onboard memory. I'll get back to the maybe. The biggest drawback, and easily fixed in future releases, is the Swarm software. This easily drops my rating more than a star. After a reboot, the software automatically starts the service for you, but the configuration I have set as default would not load for me without closing the process and restarting the app. Even then, the app would not always start. Nor would the profiles always load. I use a keyboard and mouse switch to jump between machines when need be. When the process was working and my profile loaded, the profile would drop when I switched machines. The secondary machine I am working with is locked down and I can not install Swarm. Worse than that, I could not consistently get the back lighting to work on the locked down laptop.(work). Any light was good, but there was no profile that was saved to the keyboard. Eventually I got the keyboard to light up on the work laptop by deleting all the default stored profiles. Which leads to my assumption there is no onboard memory because none of the profiles I configured would save and come up as default or carry over after switching machines. I really do not light the rainbow scheme on the every RGB keyboard on the market. It is just painful for me and a distraction. I am still not sure how I got it to come across as a single solid color, but that was better than rainbow road. Overall, I loved the hardware from design to feel to execution. Hardware wise, this is one of the best on the market. The software just really ruined the experience for me. I am sure a few updates and everything will be worth the price of admission, so I am only dropping a single star in my rating since the issues should be easily fixed. Normally I would say head into the store and check it out to see if you like the feel, everyone taste is different when it comes to keyboards.

This is a fantastic keyboard. The tactile feel of the keys is perfect. It is really comfortable to type on. The lights look great, and the lighting effect options are great. One thing I will knock it down a point for is that the software is not compatible with Mac. The keyboard itself works just fine on a Mac, but if you want to do any kind of customizing, you need to do it on a Windows machine first. Kind of a bummer, but I guess most people aren't gaming on a Mac. Still, something worth mentioning. Overall, great keyboard which is an absolute joy to use. Just wish they would release a Mac version of the software.

This is a must have keyboard as it is loaded with many awesome features that gamers and everyday keyboardist alike will thoroughly enjoy. I especially love that the keys are customizable as you get to choose what makes you feel great amidst gaming. The feel of the keystrokes is wonderful as the keys type evenly with great response. The spectrum of colors is rich as such, it makes an enjoyable experience while keyboarding and/or gaming. There are 104 programmable keys. I must commend Roccat on the overall design of this keyboard as its very futuristic and loaded with many options for gamers to choose. The only con that I see is that this keyboard is not wireless; however, Roccat has included a nice cable that is approximately 6 feet in length. Overall, the Vulcan Pro Optical is well worth its price because of its robust features and performance.

    Smooth, but overpriced for 200

This is probably the best "gaming" keyboard I have tried so far. I've used this keyboard for about 2 weeks and it feels very nice, considering it's a gaming keyboard. The switches are very nice stock switches, and they are very smooth un-lubed. The case is made of plastic, but the top is beautifully brushed aluminum. On top of that, the low-profile keycaps and case design make it very appealing to the eye. The RGB is very nice as well, it's bright and very vibrant. One of the few complaints I have about this keyboard is the software. The software isn't as good as other keyboard programs such as razer where it has more in-depth RGB settings. My other complaint is the pricing, it's pretty overpriced considering its 200 dollars and you can get a wayyyyy better feeling and sounding keyboard for 200 dollars. Other than that, the keyboard is a great choice if you're just casually searching the internet, or just playing games. But I still definitely recommend just building one yourself.

This Roccat Vulcan Pro Optical gaming keyboard is my first ever product from Roccat. I've been a mechanical keyboard user for years now and have previously used variations of Blue (clicky/tactile) and Brown (tactile, non-clicky) keys from several different manufacturers. The highlight of this Roccat keyboard are the Optical linear key switches. Rather than relying on the physical contact of a mechanical switch, these keys use optical sensors to detect each keystroke. Theoretically this gives them an order of magnitude longer life, as well as being more accurate than traditional mechanical switches. My initial impressions of the keyboard were overwhelmingly positive - this thing looks awesome and feels top tier. The keys are designed to highlight the RGB lighting both through the keycap as well as below it. The aluminum case and detachable wrist rest also have a premium feel. The keyboard has a few extra keys as well as the ability to program macros to the 6 Home/End/Ins/Del/PgDn/PgUp keys, and has a volume control. The volume control is another highlight - it's a dial style control that has the same feel as an audio mixer board. It's another nod to the premium nature of this keyboard and has a unique clicky feedback to it you rotate it. The optical key switches have a very similar keystroke to linear mechanical switches I've used in the past, but without even the slighest hint of resistance anywhere along the keystroke. They felt like tuned switches you'd find in a high end hobbyist keyboard. In other words, these were nearly perfect switches that are absolutely shocking in feel at this price. Actuation feels exceptionally responsive and consistent and I haven't noticed any glitches or missed keypresses. Both gaming and typing have been a pleasure with the keyboard. Being my first Roccat device, I installed the Swarm software to gain control over the RGB lighting and check out the macro programming and other features. I'm happy to report there were zero issues installing the software (unlike trouble I've had two other prominent gaming brands). I simply downloaded Swarm from the Roccat website, installed it, then it painlessly asked me if I wanted to download the "module" for the Vulcan Pro and did it with no hiccups. I've left the lighting on the "AIMO" intelligent lighting mode as it has a really pleasing, natural pattern to it. The lighting itself is beautiful on this keyboard and is a real step up from any other RGB devices I've used from other brands. Overall the Roccat Vulcan Pro is an awesome keyboard - the optical key switches are a notable upgrade from other keys that I've used, and I can't way to see what other products Roccat brings to market with the same technology. Definitely will be pointing friends and family to this review during the holidays.

This is by far the most feature rich gaming keyboard I have ever owned. It has the standard excellent RGB features, but goes even further with custom keyboard sounds! You can set it up to sound like a typewriter or other cool sound effects, which to me is just such a cool touch. The response time when gaming is amazing as well thanks to the optical/mechanical hybrid keys. The typing volume on this keyboard is great compared to about every other mechanical keyboard I have used also, super quiet! The customizable keys are great in WoW, and overall I just love everything about the Vulcan Pro!

I read a few reviews that the keys were very touchy, but I would say they are actually pretty forgiving. The keys also have a great feel to them. If you are worried about the RGB it looks great as well.
