The BestBuy sales person directed me to them. It made connections at the receiver a cleaner installation so that the wire strands did not make any incidental contact which could make a short.

Using Rocketfish Banana plugs

The banana plugs are simple to use and the BEST PART to me is now you create the convenience of being able to plug and unplug your speakers/AV receiver without having to fish the speaker wire through the hole on the terminal using a flashlight, mirror and practically standing on your head.

"Meh" design and expensive

Had to buy them b/c they were the only option and I needed banana plugs ASAP. The wire connection design isn't the greatest, either. With mild force (which admittedly one shouldn't normally encounter with speaker wires, but still a good "safety" test) you can pull the speaker wire out from these plugs. Banana plug connection designs I've used in the past don't have this problem - they cinch the wires to the plug better and more securely...and with less parts. I think these are a little over-engineered.

So easy to use and much more convenient than trying to wrap wires around posts. Makes it very easier to pass wires through floors and ceilings when wiring my entertainment room.
