    I have an older HD TV that, oddly enough, doesn't have a HDMI input. It has a DVI input so I needed to but a HDMI/DVI adapter which meant the audio didn't work. The audio output from the AppleTV is digital audio only and since my TV didn't have that input, I also needed a TOSLINK to component audio adapter. Luckily I already had a HDMI cable that also didn't come with the Apple TV.
