Stick it to me Roku
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Roku Streaming Stick is remarkably simple to install and use. Just plug the Stick in your TV's USB port and run the power cord to an wall outlet or additonal USB plug on the TV. Also, the interface is very intuitive and well laid out. Great Apps too. I would have given it a 5 star rating, however, occasionally, it can take a while to initially connect to a channel - a few seconds longer than my Roku 2. Also, I wish their was a "last" or "previous" button on the remote. As is, you have to navigate back to the home screen to change channels which can be tiresome if your watching multiple live events.

Best streaming player on the market
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, I want to say what I DON'T like about the ROKU Streaming Stick: the remote control! I bought the first iteration of the Streaming Stick and the remote was hefty, sturdy and responsive. I liked it so much that I bought a second Stick for my other TV set. The second remote was thinner and flimsier than the first one, and stopped working on several occasions, or the directional buttons would stick, sending the remote into a clicking frenzy. I exchanged that device for a different one, and encountered the same problems, so it looks like a problem that Roku will have to deal with (or continue to ignore...). Even though the remotes are troublesome, the ROKU Streaming Stick is still worth owning. It is the best of the breed. I own the Amazon Fire, the Amazon Fire Stick, the Apple TV, the Roku 2 and a few others not worth mentioning. I prefer the Roku Stick over the Roku 2 because the Stick doesn't require unobstructed access to the device, and it's more responsive. The Roku's channel options are endless! You can access private channels via the Rokuguide.com website. Trust me when I tell you, there's something for everybody in the public and private channel sections. You can choose the channels that interest you, and upload them directly to your Roku menu. If the remote wasn't such rubbish, I would give this device 5 stars.

If you don't have a smart tv now you do
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I give it four stars because the setup is a bit annoying. Setup takes awhile because you have to register each app you choose. The remote also seems to lag some.once you figure out how to maneuver around it your ready to go. Streams pretty well I guess that all depends on the WiFi you have. Small and not in the way hides perfectly behind your tv. I have a Panasonic 42" plasma who is now converted into a smart tv. Love the fact I can screen mirror my phone to the TV and that I can take my stick wherever I go.

Great product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Roku Streaming Stick HDMI Version is a very convenient gadget for streaming digital content on-line. Set-up is very easy. Plug it in and in a few steps you are up and running. The HD picture quality is excellent. Every once in a while though my unit has failed to connect to the wi-fi router for no apparent reason. Shutting it down and restarting has fixed the problem. You can also remotely operate ROKU from your iphone via a Roku app. The app also enable you to stream your pictures and videos from your phone to the TV. Does require an external power source.

ROKU great- Remote sucks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I LOVE the Roku!! I wish I woulda bought this first before buying chrome cast. Nothing wrong with chrome cast, its just that Roku has amazon movies and chrome doesn't. Set up is easy. If you have subscriptions to Amazon, Netflix, HBO GO, Showtime, FX NOW, Disney...and the list continues-- you will be happy with this product. My only regret is that I wish I would have opened it sooner, since the remote doesn't work. But, I use the app through my Android phone and no problem.

Like it overall ...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We're finding we need to be closer to the router to not have interrupted streaming (which would have been nice to know in advance, as the room I wanted to use it in gives us the most difficulty), but when we do use in a different room, the Roku works great and gives you many viewing options. The remote is much handier to use than a PS3. Setting up the Roku itself and an online account was quite seamless. Overall, pleased with our purchase!

Turns tv into a smart tv
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have a smart tv and we have another that is not. We got this so when our granddaughter comes over, she can watch things on Netflix or Amazon prime or cbs all access on this tv that is not a smart tv. We don't have an Xbox or a PlayStation, and chrome cast doesn't work that great any more. This fit the bill. We don't subscribe to cable either, and we haven't gotten around to hooking up the antenna to this tv, so overall I am very pleased with how this works. I don't have any problems with connections. It was fairly easy to set up. Once you get the apps you want, it is easy to use. You do have to go to your computer first to set up an app. You have to be logged on to roku on your computer in order to install a new app.

A good streaming stick
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a FireTV, Chromecast, and a Roku Stick. All 3 have their good and bad traits. The Roku definitely has the best channel selection and works well. It is my favorite of the 3 I have. The interface is easy enough that my 5 year old can work it with no problems, and it comes with a remote. FireTV also has a remote, but Chromecast doesn't, so if my kids want to watch something I have to control it with my phone. FireTV is great if you have an Amazon Prime account, but its interface heavily favors Prime content. If you don't have a Prime account, the Roku is by far the best choice in my opinion.

Works great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This exceeds my expectations. It's very easy to set up and use. There are a ton of services available on it, and many have free trials that you can sign up for prior to subscribing (Hulu is my favorite so far). I haven't had any problems with the remote not working properly, my only complaint with it is that the power cord isn't very long. If you are using with a mounted mobile TV, it's best to have it in the position you want it before plugging it in. I don't have enough cord available to tilt or swivel my TV when it's plugged in (which could easily be corrected with a small extension cord). I enjoy it enough that I bought an addiontional one for my second home and was able to cancel the cable that cost more a month than what I paid for the Roku.

Great product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this as my traveling device. Easy to setup, easy to use. The response with the remote can be a little lazy, I use my Android phone mainly due to search with keyboard option. My only change is a swivel HDMI connector for hotel room connections. Of course a purchased angled HDMI adapter to care of that also.

Great streaming device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Has a great selection of apps although it is important to note that most apps worth watching require a subscription either for the app itself or from a cable provider. The video quality is excellent. Every app seems to use the same drivers and software so performance is very consistent and stable. The remote is a piece of junk. It will frustrate you because it uses Bluetooth but cannot seem to maintain a connection. You will constantly be pulling the batteries out to reset connection. You can use the roku app instead of the remote but the feel of raised buttons cannot be reproduced on a touchscreen. The remote has hotkeys for specific apps but are factory set and cannot be changed. One thing I find odd is that it cannot be turned off. It will go into a screensaver but, unless you unplug it, it will continue to run and be connected to your Wi-Fi. I do like how you can tell it which apps to download on the roku website and it will download them automatically.

Great device with tons of streaming options.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great device simply because of all of the support for Channels on Roku. I recently cut the cord and with this being the best option for accessing SlingTV along with Netflix, Hulu, and Plex; I had to buy it. I have many other media devices including Chromecast and as of now SlingTV is not supported on Chromecast but is on Roku and thank goodness it is or I would not have ever tried one. I am hooked! There are a couple minor things about this. It is a little slower than the Roku 2 and 3. Also, the remote is finicky. The remote uses a form of WiFi direct to connect to the player and it does not always stay connected. A way around it is to use a smartphone or tablet with the Roku app or a 3rd party remote app. I have found a couple that even have widgets that can be customized. I would highly recommend this and any other Roku device even if you already have another media player.

Great streaming
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to use on the TV in our guest bedroom that cable is not hooked up in, to allow our guests the ability to watch Netflix or anything else one could stream. What sets this apart from other streaming devices is that Roku has the TWC app. If you have (or know someone that does) TWC and has a login, you are able to watch live TV of a verity of channels. Setup was super easy, done in less than 10 minutes. All you have to do is plug in the device and follow the onscreen steps. Anyone can do it, really! Just recently, we had to move the Roku Streaming Stick to our main TV to replace streaming Netflix via the PS3 (our Xbox 360 finally RROD over Easter weekend). When streaming Netflix via the PS3 we would always have an issue. Either having to restart a show due to dropped signal, or a show would never load (always gets stuck at 25%). However, using the Roku Streaming Stick, we never saw any of these issues, even with our router on a different floor than the streaming stick. Well worth the money, great buy!

Opens A World of Entertainment Possibilities
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Google Chromecast stick as well, and the Roku stick blows it way! I love having the remote, but it does occasionally lose sync with the stick. However, I installed the Roku app on my iPhone, and I prefer to use that as the remote since you can access a keyboard on your phone rather than an onscreen keyboard using just the remote. The Roku is SO much easier to work with. I like being able to plug it in and have everything ready to access at once, which is not the case with the Chromecast. The variety of content available on the Roku is amazing. I didn't expect to use it as much as I have, and it's become essential to me now.

Great streaming stick
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have two roku streaming sticks and The new apple TV. The apple has slicker interface and is much much faster loading content, but I find myself watching the roku more often due to Amazon video app. Its small size means no box sitting on the counter in the kitchen.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to use, full of features,Simple to hook up.Have been using been using for about a month have not missed the cable tv (or the bill) one bit. Streaming (plus a antenna for local stations) is the future. It is a little slower than roku 3 to load but not that big of deal.

Great little stick... not as fast as the Roku 3
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hate giving this item only 4 stars. It's a great streamer and it supports the features that I expect, like Netflix profiles. It is noticeably slower than the Roku 3, but not annoyingly so like the Roku 1 or Roku SE (which is seemingly just a Roku 1 with a "new" name). Between the noticeably slower speed and the lack of a voice search on the remote, i cannot give it the same number of stars as i would my Roku 3 devices, so it gets only 4 stars (would have gladly given it 4.5 if i could). Speaking of speed, I bought a Roku SE and ended up returning it and buying this stick instead cause it was annoyingly, insanely, ridiculously slow... glad i made the upgrade. Also, yes i would recommend this stick to a friend, but only with the caveats listed above.

Excellent product!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had a Roku, since its debut to market. Still have a Roku XDS, several years old, working like charm! This time , after reading some specs and comparing to the Firestick and ChromeCast I again selected a Roku product, this time I purchased two Roku Streaming Sticks. Advantages: - all major streaming content providers have a dedicated App which perform well even when your bandwidth is below 10-20 Mbps- Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Vudu, YouTube, HuluPlus,HBO GO, even its own paid/rent service M-GO(it appears on the main Navigation bar) - You can CAST video to TV( ChromeStick is not the only one). Roku has its own Iphone/ipad apps for remote control and Casting. Cast-ing is a feature allowing you to browse/search fir a URL to a web site and send the URL link to your Roku Streaming stick, the Roku plays it (audio and/or video/Live TV). You can even switch off the device you used to "cast" the link to Roku- Roku remebers the link until it plays the content. - The experimental , yet, CAST to TV feature does NOT require Chrome browser (which The competition aka ChromeStick does). For Apple app store has a casting app for Roku Stick(Roku 3) or you can use Mozilla Firefox browser+Windows 8.1 to cast from a PC. - It allows full HD streaming of live and recorded video content; - works on both 2.4 & 5 GHz bands. It seems to connect to my Wifi at 300Mbps, in a crowded home Wifi network(see below), about 50-70 feet away, a story below from the WiFi router. - You can use it abroad (I tried in Europe , 3 countries) some content might be limited dpending on location. - If you are a Cable/Sat subscriber you can use their Roku apps/Channels to watch the content all over USA and abroad, see my experience above. - It streams content without interruption(does not download to store) even in houses 3 stories high with over 12 WiFi devices connected. My Wifi Router: I used DIR-655 router, now upgraded to Dual-band Netgear Nighthawk X4 AC2350.(2 Ipads, 2 Iphones 6/6+, 2 Smart HD TVs Samsung (one 3D), 2 WiFi/LAN printers, 2 Laptops&1PC,1 Sony Blu-ray 3D player, all connected via Wifi. The Roku Sticks I connected on the 5GHz band (AC, backward compatible with g/n), the old XDS is using the 2.4GHz. - It is recognized by Samsung Anynet+ - Huge variety of International content: streaming and video TV stations from all continents and languages. -access to channels/stations having GoPro content, Parkour, any tech shows, racing, etc (Who still needs ESPN? You can still see it on Roku if you are Cable/Sat subscriber) - Almost every city in the US seems to have a free local channel/station available( in case you have no DTV antenna or Cable/Sat/Fios TV) - you can play Roku games on it (I have not played much on it) - access to classic TV movies, international included. - If you are fan of UFC type entertainment/sports - I see a couple channels too. - virtually anybody can create their own channel for Roku( some basic coding skill necessary, Dev Kit is available) and allow Roku to access it on your leased(third-party or your own servers) for streaming. - Roku 3/XD have access to a USB port, where you can attach a USB hard drive/flash and watch listen to your own or digitized movies/audio. - There are more interesting features/channels, which I might add later(if BestBuy allows editing, appending to review) What would have been great to add: - allow multiple accounts to access same channel(Netflix, Amazon, Vudu, etc) and allow access/Play of the combined content.

Awesome!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was torn with the idea of purchasing this over the Apple TV after researching and getting recommendations from two huge tech friends, both whom are avid apple users. One was hands down for the roku. I ended up purchasing both to try them out personally to see which I liked more and this particular roku was so handy because it provides everything all the other versions do at a fraction of the cost. So I actually ended up keeping both this and the Apple TV because essentially the total cost of both was the originally cost of just the Apple TV, so it was like getting a free roku! I like it a lot and actually use it a lot too. It has spotify and plex, of countless other options but I use plex and spotify a lot. Only complaint is that the remote blows through batteries and I now just pop a battery out when I'm done using it.

Works Great for the Price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to go with my bedroom TV and for that purpose it works great. However, I have a Roku 3 in my living room and I have to say it is 100x better. The load speeds aren't even comparable. However, I will say that once loaded, the streaming quality on this is great and it does provide the same cross-search functionality of the better Roku 3. If you are looking for a streaming stick versus a box, I really do recommend this above the Firestick or Chromecast. It allows you to have a remote without having Amazon content pushed down your throat and works great for its class.
