It is plastic, the door sticks up a little so all someone would have to do is put their fingernail under the lid and pull lid/cover til it is bent or broken. Not secure at all..except where the cable is wrapped around something. Not good, would not buy again, wish I did not buy 2. Was out of the area when they arrived so too late to take back. Did not want to leave even 1 star...

I don't see why someone bent on stealing something wouldn't just remove it and take the whole thing. I thought it was a bit heavy. Very attractive and compact - the purple lavender color is a very nice shade.
