It surrounds the edges and also covers the front screen and back. Didn't realize this when I ordered it. Two slight complaints. It is a fingerprint magnet and it is difficult to see or read the screen in bright outdoor light as the clear front screen cover reflects the light. Indoor lighting is not a problem. It is a case to protect the phone which is does very well.
