I've had this dishwasher for about nine months now. We got it when our old non-SS tub dishwasher's pump died for the second time. It was ten years old, the racks were rotting away, you get the idea.
I was looking for something quieter and heard that a SS tub was the way to go. Apart from that I my choice was driven by price and reviews, both CR and on-line reviews by owners.
I can't say that we are heavy users of the dishwasher since typically there are only two of us at home; we run it every other day or so, sometimes with two days between runs. I often put in cooking utensils, Pyrex, baking pans but almost never put in a pot (too much space is taken up when I can just as easily wash the pot by hand). The top rack fills first and that usually says that it's time to run. I also use jet-dry and that makes a HUGE difference. With it the glasses are spotless and clear. I had gotten used to milky glasses and thought that it was the fault of the old dishwasher. Oh well, live and learn.
So, with that as background on to the review.
The unit is incredibly quiet. Apart from the 30 seconds or so when it first starts it's just about silent. I needn't have worried over this decibel rating vs. that decibel rating. It also cleans everything. I have yet to find something that I have to wash by hand.
The bottom rack has plenty of space for dishes and the racks are spaced apart enough that I can fit in a half-sheet pan and large cutting board when I want. The silverware baskets have flip-up tops that work well for forks and spoons. The handle of knives tend to get stuck and can be hard to remove, but the easy solution there is to flip up the top for knives.
My only (small) negative comment has to do with the design of the racks.
On the top, only one side has an adjustable set of tines so loading glassware is awkward. It is also harder than it should be to figure out how to load cereal bowls. I would like to load them so that they don't touch but haven't been able to figure out how to do that and still leave room for the glasses.
The bottom seems to have been designed with plates and pots in mind, so cereal and soup bowls don't fit naturally there either.
I would definitely buy this unit again.

All of our kitchen appliances are Samsung, and we have been happy with them for the most part. This dishwasher has been a major disappointment and a lot of trouble.
Even when working, the dishwasher did a poor job of drying unless the Sanitize option was used and the door was left open for a couple hours (or overnight) to allow all of the dishes to dry. Failing to do this meant you needed to hand dry many items.
There was often an odor coming out of the dishwasher, requiring us to rinse the dishes very well, clean the filter and run vinegar through the unit regularly. We often ran the dishwasher on half-loads so we wouldn't be knocked over by the smell when opening the door.
The major reason for such a poor rating: The quality is terrible. A little over a year after owning this dishwasher, we're now forced to replace it with a different brand. (So much for matching appliances.)
We have had a technician visit 5 times during the dishwasher's life- twice for a new circuit board, pump and sensor, and three times for water leaking on the floor (door seal). The final straw is yet another error code that has left us without a dishwasher for 2 weeks. The repair would cost half the price of the unit. No thank you.
If you do decide to purchase this unit, absolutely get the extended warranty.

Does not clean very well. We always use the heaviest cycle even though our dishes are lightly soiled and always dog "prewashed". Frequent "rejects" even though we very loosely load about half the dishes they say should fit.
It has stunk to high *heck* since day one. Literally fills solid with a mat of mold if not opened for 2-3 days. We have bleached several times and always use the sanitation option (~5 loads a week). Customer service has NO troubleshooting ability, no suggestions offered. The tub NEVER dries and is always steamy so the door ALWAYS has to be cracked open. (We live in a dry climate, not somewhere humid like Florida.)
Hard to load because the tines are very close together. So it only holds about half what it is advertised to. If you load it like the manual suggests, NOTHING gets clean. The storm wash area is about 1/4 of the bottom rack so only suited for one pot. It is easier to hand wash these items.
It is a huge dishwasher. It would be good if you wash really big/tall pots or something, but for regular dishes, it is a waste of space. It REALLY should have had a third rack if only for silverware.
The cute silverware slots don't work. The slots are too small for any of my silverware.
This appliance was a good effort, but nothing really works the way they intended. I really wonder if they ever put real dishes in it from a real family.

Love this dishwasher! We are Samsung snobs so we were actually happy when our 12 year old GE called it quits. This dishwasher took about 2 hours to install due to floor leveling issues but was very easy for the common person to do. It is extremely quiet, fits a ton of dishes, fits tall items very well even with the top rack being at the highest setting and has many features we have yet to use.
The only negatives are:
The regular finger print issues as with all items with that finish
The loading of the bottom rack requires some getting used to
And because it fits so much when you are loading and unloading the bottom rack you feel like you are on the floor
I would 100% recommend this dishwasher and hope that it lasts as long as all of our other Samsung items have. Great brand!

This dish washer is pretty and cleans well but it has a terrible odor when drying the dishes.
We don't know if it's the rubber or glue or what but it smells like a wet diaper!
The first technician from best buy ruined the lines we purchased while installing the dishwasher. The dish washer stunk so bad and sounded so loud
He had no idea what he was doing and we paid 140.00 for this! after spending much time on the phone, they sent someone else out who knew what he was doing.
still has a smell but not as bad as the first dish washer .
They came back out and re installed

Purchased this (and 3 other major appliances) in Sep '13. Dishwasher worked OK for about 4 months then we got "5e" error. Geek Squad (does repairs on Samsung's behalf for manufacturer's warranty period) came and said we needed a new main board. So they replaced it. Error came back, Geek Squad came again - new sensor this time. Worked for a while again, then new error "0e" and left us with a puddle inside. Geek Squad AGAIN, replaced main board for the 2nd time (per Samsung's instructions) and brake assembly. Worked for about a week and "5e" error came back. Geek Squad came out again. In the meantime, we called Best Buy and got nowhere because it's under manuf. warranty they won't do anything. While Geek Squad was here, we called Samsung and I told them I wanted a new one and they refused saying that it wasn't "non-repairable". 4 Service calls and all parts replaced and still errors is considered repairable?? Samsung rep was rude and unsympathetic. Geek Squad repairman wrote up situation again and submitted to his superiors. Were supposed to hear back - that was over a week ago. Says he's checking on it... And what happens today? "0e" error back AND wouldn't stop running. It was trying to drain and I opened the door and it started back up again with the door open! So, here we are - dishwasher hasn't worked consistently for over 4 months now, 4 service calls, Samsung won't help and Best Buy won't answer and after spending all of this money, I'm doing dishes by HAND and it's still under warranty! This is not acceptable. Samsung will not stand by their product - I think we have been more than patient and 4 service calls is enough. I agree it should be up to Samsung to replace it b/c it's under warranty but with them being unresponsive, its up to Best Buy to make it right and they won't do it. Very disappointed and disgusted

We bought this dishwasher in 2013, due to a new build installed May 2014...it died in 10 months. Of course we didn't warranty this one appliance and both the circuit board and other electronics need to be replaced. Also it was noted the LED buttons are already losing sensitivity and will need to be replaced. We are buying ANYTHING other than Samsung to replace it.

We had nothing but problems with this dishwasher; had it repaired within the first year and it broke again 2 months later. Samsung does not stand behind this product. The technician that serviced it said they had nothing but problems with this model and it should have been recalled. They've been replacing the motherboard and other parts to deal with multiple error codes in all of them and unless you're willing to pay for extended coverage for the life of this dishwasher and deal with horrible customer service, I advise you to RUN before purchasing this or any dishwasher from Samsung.

Purchased this unit in May 2015, less than 4 month after LE indicator started showing up and prevented the machine shutdown, had to switch off circuit breaker. Samsung send a tech for repairs, LE - leakage indicator was the problem. Within a week same problem, the same tech came over and this time replaced the gasket and main chip board. Week after that a different issue, unit would stop on its own in the middle of the cycle and detergent would be splashed all over inside, re-running the cycle did not help either.
LE and OE indicator issue as it turned out is a known issue and Samsung is selling it anyway - not a BEST BUY for almost 800 bucks

I'm very surprised to see this as a four star. A week after I brought it home it was falling apart and of course when I bought it it was a 950.00$ machine. Needless to say I was very disappointed I had the warranty ppl come out 3 times in the first six months . It seemed to be doing ok after that . Now it has decided to stop working completely and of course now there is nothing Samsung will do for me even though they have on record how many issues I have had with this machine. Mabey I should of just bought a cheap machine then I wouldn't be so upset with its performance.

I "hate" this/my dishwasher... Just like many of the other consumer reviews. It is not even a year old, it constantly needs fixing. My new issue is that the dishwasher just stinks after cleaning the dishes. This is after 2 repairs. Ugh...waste of money. Please do yourself a favor and never buy a samsung dishwasher.

Does not clean dishes - Samsung Offers No Solution

I have had this dishwasher since Nov. 2014 and from day 1 it has not cleaned well. Samsung visited 2 times in the first month or so and they told me I needed to increase the water heater temperature (not very Energy sensitive) and cut up the detergent pods in thirds because a full pod is too much detergent. Followed instructions except I did not cut up pods but did switch to liquid detergent and reduced the amount. Glassware consistently comes out with residue and food stuck to it, silverware dingy, and plates are hit or miss if they are clean or not. Increased pre-washing is needed if you expect to be get clean dishes. A third visit is scheduled tomorrow for another error preventing me from using the dishwasher again. Wish I had my 10+ year-old Maytag washer back.

Epic Failure

Bought this for the excellent reviews about a year ago, to replace a white Bosh after converting the kitchen to stainless appliances. After 10 months the dishwasher threw an error that water is overflowing. I contacted Samsung and the opened a maintenance ticket. TWO MONTHS later my dishwasher is still NOT working. Samsung has made me work with a local repair shop to get it fixed. After numerous attempts to repair the machine by replacing several parts, the repair guys took the dishwasher to the shop promising that the machi e will be fixed over the weekend. Two weeks later and a dozen phone calls to Samsung and the repair shop, my dishwasher is STIL NOT WORKING AND HAS NOT BEEN RETURNED. Today Samsung finally decided to proceed with a dishwasher replacement but I have to wait another 3 to 5 business days. Pathetic!

Just spent 40 minutes on the phone with customer service to see what they would do for me since the error message was caused with their faulty softwear. No help no answers only that my part that has been backordered for 4 weeks is still not available and since my unit is 2 months out of warranty they cant do anything for me. I replaced every appliance in my home 13 months ago with higher end Samsung units, will never purchase again have had nothing but issues. Best Buy and Samsung are the worst customer care. I have now spent $200 on a $600 unit and still not fixed. Run to another brand!

Worst dishwasher on the market

Not sure this dishwasher has a high rating. If you take the time to google the model number or own it for longer than 30 days, you will then understand.
This dishwasher has given me every error code there is in the book, and I am sure it would give me more error codes if they were programmed in.
The Samsung engineers were cutting corners on this development life cycle for sure.
What's more, trying to get this dishwasher serviced my Samsung in a timely manner is a part-time job in itself.
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SAMSUNG HOME APPLIANCE EVER AGAIN!

I've had this dishwasher for about two years. Nothing but trouble. Actually surprised when it runs a full cycle. Various error messages one out of about twenty cycles finishes. The others have to have the error code reset and the cycle needs restarted. The dishes do dry at all, of course when the repair men come out it happens to be the one cycle that finishes. Do not purchase this dishwasher, unless it is a newer model that has has upgrades to prevent the issues. Making an appointment today for repairs of the IE error.
