Couldn't pick up remote signal

The soundbar and TV are approximately 16' from the chairs we normally sit in. Never had a problem with any other remote before. At first my husband and I laughed as we tried to hold the remote perfectly level and pointing directly at the soundbar. It tolerated no deviation!! After two weeks, is wasn't so funny. We ended up returning it.
