TV's Speakers Will Not Work with Q60T Soundbar

There's a whole lot that I love about this TV. The picture is great! I truly love its versatile, very sturdy, heavy duty, central TV stand (versus the skinny little legs that are on either side of most tvs). It fits perfectly on the small cabinet in the corner of my master bedroom, and the size of this TV is absolutely perfect for my bedroom TV. The remote control that comes with it is sweet. Easy to hold. Simple to use. But I also find it to be very sensitive such that I'm accidentally changing things from time to time by inadvertently brushing against the remote. ... more ...
Here's what disappoints me about this TV: its sound. It's ... just okay. The speakers are a little muffled or maybe a little dull? I just can't hear the distinct words and sounds as much as I prefer. I knew the 2020 Samsung Q60T, Q70T, or Q80T Soundbar would soon be released for purchase, and when the Q60T came out (70T and 80T haven't been released yet) I bought the Q60T go with this Q80T TV. (They're allegedly compatible with each other.)
But this combination will not provide the Q60T soundbar's advertised Q-Symphony surround sound using the TV's integral speakers! I've tried everything. It simply won't work.
I have spent many hours on the phone with Samsung tech support and Best Buy Total Tech Support. Samsung has even remotely accessed my TV. All technicians at Best Buy and Samsung say that everything is set up exactly as it should be ... but they also all agree that the combination is not working properly. I can't get the TV Speakers to work WITH the Soundbar, which is Samsung's new technology and one of the soundbar's primary selling features, called Q-Symphony. It simply will not work!
I'm not sure if it's the TV or if it's the Soundbar, but the process has soured me a little bit on this TV. It was advertised to go with this soundbar, and it was my gameplan to pair them from the start. In the meantime, I have to choose whether to return just the Soundbar and live with the TV's less than stellar sound, to exchange the Soundbar on the off chance that I got a lemon, to wait for the Q80T Soundbar to come out and give the whole thing another go (bypassing my window of opportunity to return the TV), or to start all over with TV and Soundbar within the return window for both. It's disappointing.

I bought a 49" Q80T as an over-sized productivity monitor after my 43" Q60R kept ticking from thermal expansion. Since it's a FALD, it doesn't have the ticking problem, and it has a great picture, good brightness (in dynamic mode, my preference), snappy controls, etc. But quality control is poor. My 1st Q80T had two dead pixels. The 2nd had a panel defect the size of a quarter and a bent bezel that leaked light. The 3rd has an inch-wide DSE shadow running down the center of the panel like a pillar. I currently have a 4th Q80T on order. Maybe I'll win the panel lottery this time. I'd switch brands but I love my Q90Rs (if they only had a 49"...) and I haven't found sets as good as the Samsung series.

Picture is pretty amazing straight out of the box. Sound is impressive for a tv this size but I'd still recommend a sound bar or sound system. The Samsung OS is my least favorite part, for a tv this expensive the OS should be snappy. However, this is still a great tv and I would buy again.

Great Picture Quality, Crashing Apps

Picture quality is great! Deep and vibrant colors, no glare, dead or faded areas. Only issue that we have with the TV, is for the model being a newer one from 2020 and the price of the TV, I would expect to not have any issues with apps or installed technology on the TV, but even after reinstalling apps, we have had multiple apps crashing and not working at all. If not for the app issues, overall rating would be 5 stars.

JessicaR,
Thank you for your praise of the Q80T's picture quality. I do apologize for the disappointment you have had with the apps crashing.
To optimize the smart TV performance, please try Device Care option. Go to Settings > Support> Device Care > Start Device Care. It improves your apps performance as it frees up unused cached memory and closes background apps.

I have this TV a little less than a month but love it!
Picture (from all angles) and easy of set up were great.
The minimalist remote and system to choose inputs took a little getting used to but only for the first few times.
Sound from internal speakers was adequate, however I connected it up to my Samsung sound bar with ease.
Love being able to control all my devices with a single remote.
Alexa option to turn on and off the TV is a nice touch but I don’t use that frequently.
Over all very satisfied with this TV and would recommend to a friend.

Picture quality is superior to the previous four year old Samsung led tv that I had. It has good off to the side picture quality and a good picture in a sunlit room during the day. Set up was easy and only minor adjustments to the picture settings were made to suit my tastes. Sound system was connected easily using the optical cable. Very pleased so far. Have only had this a little over a month so can't comment on longevity. Plenty of streaming apps available.

There had been a trend of Samsung tv’s getting gradually “worse” every year for some reason. The last TV I bought was an 8 series 65” about 3 years ago when most would consider Samsung at their peak of quality, so I’ll compare that tv to this one.
The thing that really stands out is the quality of the built in speakers. They sound really good. Really good. For regular non cinematic watching you’d be very satisfied. 2nd would be the black levels. The black levels on my 2018 8 series are good but not as good as the blacks on this set. It’s extremely noticeable in dark rooms, and mind you the 8 series had great blacks, but there are WOW! I do think for the average viewer you wouldn’t notice tho. I bought this tv at a deep discount and If it weren’t for that I wouldn’t spend this kind of money on a tv. But the set is very nice, the Blacks are very good. And the ears and hdmi 2.1 are perfect for my needs for a next gen gaming tv.

Great picture, decent sound. Used primarily for Xbox gaming along with some sports viewing. Love the automatic switch into and out of game mode. The remote is much more capable that it seems at first, especially with devices other than the TV, but took some time to fully understand it's versatility. I like the startup options. They're adaptable to meet different needs.

Needed a smart TV and space was limited so we bought this 49" TV and are really enjoying it . Awesome picture and sound is pretty good. Still need a sound bar to enjoy it fully but so far, so good. One disappointment was that the TV does not have any AV connections so I had to buy an adapter in order to hook up our older DVD player.

I still don't think LED's compare to plasma TV's (10 year old Toshiba plasma monitor is still my main TV), but this is as close as I've seen. Picture quality, sound, ease of use, it's all there with this TV. My biggest gripe with the TV it replaced was poor motion definition (golf balls looked like oblong blurs), but not so with this TV. Highly recommend.

Easy setup. Sound especially good for a TV. Have not even connected soundbar. Would like mount to swivel but glad to find quality with pedestal mount needed for stand. Have a Samsung Q70 also and broad base separate support legs require a lot of flat space that is not always available.

It's a lot to learn about the settings. I have not had it that long not even a month. I am having a lot of fun learning about 4K with HDR. I'm getting great pict. on Hd. NOT MANY 4k Souces to view without having to pay and I'm busy paying for the tv.but so far so good!

This was not the tv I had intended on buying but the one I wanted was gone and no longer on BB’s order list. In other words.....they were upgraded this line.
Was I disappointed then, yes.
Am I disappointed now that I upgraded......HECK NO!
Better better better. The picture is fabulous
And so so many features (that I am still learning....I am slow in that way, lol). Two of my favorite features are the Ambient and the SmartThings app (I’m sure I’ll love it even more once I really learn it)
So.....to sum this review up... I LOVE THIS TV
And my sales rep Nikki she was AWESOME
She didn’t just sell me a tv, she got into every aspect of the tv every detail she was on point.

I purchased this 49" Q80 to replace a 40" Q60 which I moved elsewhere. The picture is a huge upgrade. Brighter and much more clearer. Sports is vivid and comes to life. Easy to set up and connect with the phone wizard.

Great tv but doesn't have all characteristics of Q80T. The 49" has no Ultra Wide Viewing Angle layer and reflections stand out a bit, no HDMI 2.1 so no support for next gen consoles and only 60Hz instead of 120 Hz so motion can be a bit choppy at times. Would've preferred that they kept these features since the drop in price from say 55" is already justified by the size difference. Picture quality is still outstanding so it earns 4 stars.
