Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the large capacity, quiet operation, and effective cleaning performance of the 5.2 Cu. Ft. High Efficiency Top Load Washer with Activewash. Many appreciate its ease of use and the overall size, allowing them to wash larger loads. However, some users experienced issues with the lid staying open, the spin cycle's effectiveness, and the washer's balance. A few also noted concerns about the absence of a center agitator and the product's long-term reliability.

Able to wash two weeks worth of two people's laundry in one load. Removing the agitator is a giant leap for this appliance.

Just got the matching set delivered today...and I was SO excited to use them. The lid of the washing machine WONT stay open! Makes loading clothes very difficult as well as trying to get them out. Am I the only one with this problem? Wondering if this is defective? I can’t imagine Samsung making it this way!

    Do Not Buy

We bought this washer 13months ago and I’ve had so many problems with it already. I have an open case with them for 6 months now and nothing has been resolved. The clothes comes out smelly at times, as soon as you fill the fabric softener compartment it often just poors into the clothes, and if you’re washing bed sheets 9 out if 10 times the washer will become unbalanced which is a huge waste of water and electricity, not to mention a waste of time. I complained many times and their “customer service” is horrible. They’re not rude but they’re not helpful it anyway unless you’re willing to pay for a technician to come to your home. Doesn’t matter if it’s still covered under the warranty you still have to pay. Which I did not. Unfortunately Best Buy will not do anything for you either even when their technicians are the ones that installed it. When it breaks down Samsung will make you order the part from a third party (J&J international) that has horrible customer service. I will never buy a Samsung appliance again. Don’t be fooled by the “cool” and “fancy” appearance.

    brand new and leaking already!

My family bought me this washer at Christmas to replace my 30 year old warhorse. It worked fine for two months, but last week I went to put the clothes in the dryer and found a flood on the floor of my laundry room! I called my regular plumber to rule out any other pipe or connection problems and everything else is fine. But when I ran a test cycle I was flooded again. I suspect a leak underneath but I have to wait (a week!!) for the Geek Squad to come. Thank goodness it came with an extended warranty because I am worried that I have a lemon. By the way, I live alone and average 1 medium sized load of laundry a week so it hasn't exactly had a workout. I gave 2 stars because when it worked it worked great. I really like the features on this machine but none of it matters if I can't use it.

    Complete waste of money

First off, this machine does not clean clothes unless you run it three or four cycles I bought this piece of junk a year ago it broke after 57 days they had to come out and replace a circuit board the technician told me he would be back every six months because that’s all he does all day is go around and replace boards on these crappy machines that were made in Taiwan. It was a very poor design the lid does not stay open it comes down in bashes you in the head when you are reaching for cloths. after you pour the soap in it if the lid comes down it’ll break the poorly designed detergent drawer off and all your detergent goes over your clothes before you even start the machine. My head has a welt in it for the last four months because this lid continually comes down and smashes my head. my doctor bills are more than the cost of the machine already. After I bought it and it broke in 57 days I called about extended warranty and it was over $400. After I bought The warranty it they sent out a mailer saying they were having a discount and the warranty is only 250. After two hours of getting transfered around on the phone they finally cut me the difference. This is a very poorly designed machine it does not work to clean clothes I would suggest getting an American made machine instead of the cheap Taiwanese piece of crap. When I buy Samsung products I expect them to be made in Korea with quality if I wanted to buy a cheap taiwanese machine I could’ve got a better one for half the price of this one.

    Too Deep, Doesn't remove hair

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We had a top loader Cabrio set prior for 12 years and LOVED it. We have many Samsung appliances and gadgets with NO disappointments---til now. Washer: WAY too deep. I'm 5'6 and blessed with some nice 'cups', but these stop me from being able to reach the bottom of the tub. I have to stand on my toes on a step stool. I don't even put it away. We have a dog. It doesn't matter what speed or setting I put it on (washer and dryer), the hair is somehow still on my clothes, only it looks like its crimped hair now. This is the biggest frustration. Even in the steam or heavy duty settings, hair is covered on my clothes. It just doesn't seem like the lint trap is collecting as much as it should be. Steam setting---its over 2 hours if you choose this. If you want to use the wrinkle release with the steam, make sure its not full. I put our sheets and throw blanket (not comforter--the one in between) in the dryer to try to deshed them and used the refresh with steam. It was wet in one section and still all the hair was on there. It just bites I'm stuck with never being able to reach the bottom of the washer!

I purchased this machine 6 months ago, about 1 month ago it stopped working. Geek squad has been here 4 times and Samsung has shipped 10 replacement parts to my home. The same Tech has come back now and they WILL NOT declare it a lemon. If I want BB to replace it i my protection plan that i spent an additional $125 is null and void. Samsung will not replace the unit without first replacing an additional two parts and they will decided after that. A brand new machine, I spent 1K between the unit, the extra parts the MAKE you buy for installation, installation and the Geek Squad policy and I am left with a refurbished machine that still does not work and IF Samsung decides to replace it, it will be another refurbished machine NOT a new one

I've had a terrible time with this machine. Display broke after a year and a half. Motor also broke at the same time. The motor (not the display) was covered by Samsung warranty, however warranty does not cover labor. To fix display and motor was going to be more than replacing machine. From the beginning, this machine has always torn our clothes because the clothes would get stuck between the side wall and the bottom of the drum even when we adjusted spin cycles. Very disappointed in this machine. When I went to Best Buy, they said I should have bought their warranty. Maybe so, but I expect a washing machine to last longer than 1 1/2 years. Will not be purchasing a Samsung again.

    Fancy but unreliable

This is my first washer I have purchased for myself being a new home owner. With that being said I’m disappointed in this washer the first time I used it I noticed it wasn’t washing my clothes correctly as in getting dirt out even using a stain remover I do see how people like myself may like it because it does look nice and feels fancy but the washer tub at the top always drops down on to my head when I bind down to remove my clothes. I always have to do a second wash using more soap and water to get a little bit more of the dirt out if your kids play sports or crawl around on the floor too where their knees get dirty this washer isn’t for you. It’s very irritating when you spend this amount for getting a garbage washer next time I will read review before purchasing.

Purchased 12/30/16. This washer can not stay balanced and must be watched through the rinse and spin cycles or it will continue to start over, (very energy saving). We have run through the manual, on line help, and you tube videos for resets and fixes to no avail. The matching dryer is little better. The lint trap is not a well done design and needs to have the screen removed and a dryer snaked below every few loads to unclog. Doing laundry has become a two day event.

I want to love a top loader

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I was excited to switch back to a top loader after years of front loader smells. But I keep getting the UB code. Yesterday I tried washing 3 towels and a set of sheets. The code happened so I checked the manual and it really does not specify what to do, so I tried to “spin” again. I keep getting this code. 4 x’s I’ve tried to rebalance the contents and then press spin again. Still getting the UB code. The dryer is another issue. It wants to be an energy saver so it shuts off after it thinks it’s dry enough. I had to reset to dry my cal king comforter 5 x’s. I have tried every setting and tried to unpress the “eco setting” When drying jeans I have to dry multiple times. It will not allow a “set minutes of drying time” and again shuts off when it thinks it’s dry enough. I want to return both of these however Best Buy states returns are only allowed 15 days after purchase. I’ve had them about a month & 1/2. I would love an exchange for these. If someone can please contact me. Thank you

We just purchased this with matching dryer in 2019. We havent even reached our 3 year mark yet and my washer will not work on any other mode except normal. I cannot wash anything on heavy duty mode, deep wash, bedding, delicate, Nothing! Only normal mode will work. When I try the other modes it gives me an error, 4C which means it’s having problems getting water into it. We’ve tried cleaning the mesh part that the water hooks into, but it doesn’t make sense that the normal setting works just fine but any other setting will not. We thought we purchased the geek squad with this because we do with every single major appliance we have, but somehow it got missed on this so now I’m out $900 because I’ll have to purchase a new washer…

    Broke Just Out of Warranty

Within the first year of ownership the washer had a safety recall. About a year and a half in the activewash tub hinge snapped and no longer is attached to the lid making it almost completely useless. Samsung wants to charge me $200 to get it repaired because it's out of warranty. Absolutely unacceptable, they should make better products. Never buying another Samsung anything ever again.

Worst Washer and Dryer I've owned, and most expensive. They have ruined so many clothes it's unbelievable. Whatever ends up on the bottom of the washer gets huge permanent "dirt dots" all over the garment from the dirt of the load (and Im washing newborn clothes so its not like they are super dirty to began with). It becomes unbalanced very easily and will make you restart the load multiple times, causing SO MUCH frustration. I could go on and on about the reasons I hate this product.

The worst purchase ever. Washer is 4.5 years old and no longer able to be repaired. Last year at 3.5 years the washer would not wash. I would hear the sound of water draining from the washer, but no water in the washer. 6 different techs tried to repair and finally said we can no longer repair. We don’t know what the issue is. About 5 parts were changed and the same issue.
