I recently upgraded to this TV. I'm coming from a 55 inch x900e. I also tried a 65 inch TCL 635, but I felt like the processing on that TV was lacking. The picture quality on this QN90a is a big upgrade. Deep blacks, great colors, and great contrast. I didn't notice any blooming when sitting at a normal viewing distance. The blacks on my sony would be kind of grey in a dark room. The TV disapears in a dark room when there is a fade to black scene. The blacks reall are impressive for a LCD TV. The deep blacks coupled with the high peak brightness really makes the image pop off the screen. Gaming is a joy as well. I have a PS5 hooked up. Game mode still has color pop, deep blacks and that great contrast. This TV is expensive, but I think it's an awesome set.

It is an okay TV, but for the price I just am not that impressed. This TV boasts high brightness, but I can't use that brightness to the fullest because of the dirty screen effect on my panel. Even with brightness turned down to a moderate level, while watching sports 4 vertical black bands can be seen on occasion when the camera is moving quickly. Dark scenes have a blooming effect, and while I didn't expect perfect blacks, as this TV isn't OLED, its handling of blooming during dark scenes is worse than my Samsung Q80T, a TV I would consider a step lower than the QN90A. Blooming is noticeable on most credit scenes. The TV for whatever reason cannot handle standard black background with white text credits. You can actually see the TV trying to light up letters, while failing to light up others, then try and correct itself. Don't really know what is going on there, but the silver lining is I have only seen this behavior on end credits. Again though, for a TV at this price point it really shouldn't be acceptable especially seeing it being out performed by my Q80T mentioned above.
This aside, I still enjoy this TV enough to keep it. It has excellent color, brightness and contrast after some simple adjustments in the settings. No need for professional calibration here. The motion is great as well, no complaints. Has 1 HDMI 2.1 which wasn't a need for me, so only having 1 doesn't bother me. But again a TV for this price should probably have HDMI 2.1 for all ports. LGs OLEDs had 4 already a year ago.
Given its down grade to handling blooming when compared to older models such as the Q80T, the dirty screen effect on the panel, and its high price range I don't recommend this TV. If you are torn between this TV or an OLED, go for the OLED.

I chose this TV because it was about the closest thing Samsung has to an OLED quality picture. I wanted a Samsung because they are user friendly and my family has a much easier time operating them than other brands.
I find the picture to be excellent albeit you still see some backlight shining through the blacks at times. The colors are bright and the contrast is excellent. The biggest surprise is the sound quality. It’s also great. You can hear voices clearly without blasting the volume and the sound tracking is actually noticeable albeit kind of a gimmick. I rarely turn my sound bar on anymore. Overall I’m pleased with the purchase. I don’t regret putting usability first and choosing this over the OLED that I had my heart set on.

Absolutely LOVE this tv. Upgraded from an older 50" samsung tv. It was a tough choice between this and the LG C1, but honestly i dont think it really matters in the end, both tvs are great units. After watching literal hours of reviews and screen tests i dont think i would be any happier than i am now with the Samsung. The brightness truly is insane (good). Sound quality of TV alone is pretty good. Picture quality is fantastic. The common complaint of the tv not showing "true black" I think is true, but by no means does it ruin any type of viewing or gaming experience. The darks are DARK, the brights are BRIGHT. Not much if any blooming of the brights, and there is a clear distinction of what should be dsrk on the screen. No complaints from me on this TV.

I'm very happy with this TV as a replacement for an old high-end plasma. After a month with it, here are my impressions.
Bottom line - I've seen a lot of LCD TVs but none better than the Q90A 65" 4k.
It's in a room with a lot of windows so high brightness and anti-glare are very important to me during the day. This TV is bright like the sun. Movie mode / HDR is watchable even on sunny days.
Some owners complain about uniformity of illumination, DSE (dirty screen effect), and banding. My backlighting is very uniform from edge to edge except for within about 1/2 inch of the corners where it's just a little dark, noticeable only on solid backgrounds. No objectionable DSE or banding. You'll want to play around with local dimming options depending on content - it can be a little slow. Overall, I think backlighting is exceptionally good.
The panel has an amazingly wide field of view with very little loss of contrast or color shift when viewing from the side. Impressive.
I've also seen complaints about blooming. This panel's white/black borders are very sharp. Impressive, actually. I think panel suppliers vary across regions but this US model has a good one.
I can't comment on the Samsung smart TV apps because I just use the HDMI inputs and the built-in ATSC tuner. One of my few complaints about this TV is that there's only one HDMI 2.1 input. That's just nuts. I already need an external switch.
For antenna reception, the guide is excellent. It's got an ATSC 3.0 tuner and it works great when our local stations test NextGen on virtual channels.
I do use the the stand. I was worried that it might be too unstable but it's actually pretty solid. (The stand is very heavy.)
I think this might be the best LCD TV on the market right now, particularly if brightness is a consideration. Gotta wear shades.
I paid retail with home delivery by BBY. Zero shipping damage - box was perfect. No compensation for this review.

The king for console gaming.

I am primarily a console gamer so I am writing this review from that perspective.
In 2017 I bought an Xbox One X and a 55" TCL P605. That was a pretty good combination at the time. This year I was lucky enough to get an Xbox Series X on the day it was released, but I have been looking for an upgrade for the TV. At first, I was going to get a TCL 75R635 (6 series, 75" screen) because it's hard to beat the TCL 6 series in terms of value per dollar. But my order did not arrive on time, so I opted for this 65" Samsung QN90A instead since it was in stock and ready to go.
I used to think that the size of the screen has more effect on the feeling of immersion while gaming than anything else. While that might be true to some extent, the upgrade to the picture quality on this TV is huge. I am blown away by the brightness and saturation of the colors. I am shocked at how good games look on this screen. I'm so glad I decided to go with this TV over one that is just larger. Sure, a 75" screen might be nice, but there is no comparison between the picture quality and brightness of this screen and my older TCL.
I am not a TV geek. I don't use special equipment to make sure the colors are 100% accurate. I almost never watch TV or movies. I just like to play games without the fear of OLED burn-in from older games that have static display features. This TV is very bright and the picture quality is incredible. It will absolutely knock your socks off when you plug an Xbox Series X into it. If you are a console gamer you should absolutely get one. That is all.

Amazing picture! This thing can go super bright if you want. I previously kept most tvs around max on many settings, not on this tv. Its actually the first Samsung tv Ive had where i actually use the different picture modes. Each mode is really a different veiwing option from the other that can be modified. I watch sports, movies and DirecTV all on different veiwing modes and it works great. Games are exhilarating! Very nice being able to press 1 button and see what specs ur tv is putting out like fps. Only complaints it only has one 2.1 hdmi input for the newer gaming consoles. Forgot to mention you can do picture in picture with this tv, but unfortunately PIP doesnt work with video games. Also must say if you have DirecTV, unless you have a 4K receiver the picture isnt as good as you would expext. Overall I absolutely love this thing and recommend. Really is stupid though with the one 2.1 hdmi port, come on Samsung get it together. Also forgot to mention synced effortlessly with my 2016 yamaha receiver, i was suprised

I bought the 65" QN90A to replace a 65" LG OLED B6P from 2016. My family used the OLED in a bright room on avg 12 hrs a day (no static or bright images, just frequent usage). After roughly 8000 hrs (owning it for 3 years), the red pixel began to fail and 2 years after that, the picture degradation continued drastically. 5 years after original purchase, a replacement was badly needed.
I needed a tv that can give as close to OLED quality as possible while still being able to handle my families usage. QN90A fits the bill nicely. I feel the Quantum Dot color quality is better than the OLED (at least in 2016), and the picture quality of QN90A matches OLED 90% of the time. OLED is the clear winner in scenes where the background is completely black and a foreground object is bright, but QN90A is not far behind. OLED is also better with off-viewing angles, but QN90A view angles are better than typical LCD tvs. The QN90A is brighter than OLED, definitely makes HDR standout. The Samsung Pro TV app was an unexpected surprise/bonus.
Long story short, if you only watch 4 hrs of tv a day in a dark room, OLED fits your use case best. But for my use case of 12 hrs on avg viewing time (3 kids, wife, etc) in a bright room with close enough to OLED quality without the risk of burn-in/subpixel failure, the QN90A fits my use case better. It should keep me well satisfied until microLED or self-emitting quantom dot arrives.

Excellent TV, Despite a Few Minor Issues

Bought this TV mainly for 4k movies and the Playstation 5. Set up was fairly easy, though Geek Squad installed mounted and installed it.
As other reviewers have mentioned, this baby is bright. I've almost had to look away at times. But you can adjust the brightness to a degree and still keep the quality picture. I just found a setting to slightly darken the picture for power saving purposes and it seems to have done wonders. The picture on this is beautiful. It's about as close to OLED quality as I have found, and without the worry of burn in.
Blacks are deep, and in a dimly lit room blend into the thin, black bezel to the point where you can't distinguish them. The Tizen OS is the best I've seen on a TV yet, though it's still not nearly as easy to navigate, or as good, as an Apple TV device.
The only issues I've experienced is that the TV will occasionally turn itself off while I'm watching it. It's happened maybe 3 or 4 times since I purchased it almost a month ago. So not often, but still something I intend to chat with Geek Squad about, just to be sure. I've looked up the troubleshooting tips around power and have verified that there is no sleep timer or auto cut off set.
I generally don't go for the extended warranty on TVs, but this one is expensive enough that I decided to do so for peace of mind. At least I know if the issue with the TV turning itself off gets worse, I have the means to fix/replace it.
Excellent TV, though I do think the price is still just a little steep. I had some gift cards and waited for it to go on sale, which helped. But it's still a pricy beast. So far though, I'd say well worth the cost.

Hi LarryTX,
Thank you for choosing Samsung’s new 2021 QN90A Neo QLED 4K Smart TV. I am happy to hear that our Quantum Matrix Technology is delivering great black levels and superb color. The intense picture is powered by our exclusive Mini LED designed technology for hyper-focused brightness and dimming in all the right areas. We appreciate you sharing your experience with your TV powering itself off. Please try a few trouble-shooting steps that may help solve the issue:
1) Check the power cable for damage and proper connection.
2) If the cable is bent, broken, kinked, pinched, pressed excessively (possibly by a heavy object on top of it) or damaged, this is likely the cause of the issue. Replace the cable.
3) Unplug the TV from the wall outlet for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.
4) If the power cycling allows enough time in between powering on and off, try updating the TV to the latest firmware. There is a risk, however. If the TV turns off during the software update, it could damage the TV. Updates can take up to 30 minutes depending on network speed, so if the TV is not turning off too frequently, try updating the software.
5) TVs which can connect to SmartThings can be turned on using compatible devices, sometimes automatically. However, if abnormal "power on" signals are sent through the wireless network, they will trigger this function and make the TV turn on. If you do not want this function, navigate to Settings > General > Network > Expert Settings > Power On with Mobile, and turn the setting off.
If the issue persists after these steps, please contact us so that we can better investigate your issue and assist you towards a solution or replacement. You can reach us at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM -12AM EST, 7 days a week. Or text HELP to 62913.

This tv doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Owned an LG CX previously that had power failure. Nobody in my area works on LG so it wasn’t worth the investment again. The QN90A doesn’t have perfect blacks, but darn close. The sound quality of this set isn’t bad either. Gaming on this tv is excellent as well with the only downside of 1 HDMI 2.1 port. One small environmentally friendly niche is the remote that charges usb-c or solar panel on the back.

I really wanted a New TV for my PS5. I did a lot of research to find the right TV, i was looking at OLED but didn't want to deal with Burn in just in case. I have an LG OLED with some burn in where the subtitles are. But after a lot of research I ended up on this TV. JUST WOW the colors are almost identical to an OLED. MINI LED is just insane. Looks like an OLED picture and can get WAY BRIGHTER. Will never go back to an OLED after experiencing MINI LED

I’ll start this off by saying it may not be perfect but let me tell you it’s pretty close in my opinion! There is very little dse but I knew that going in that there was probably going to be some but with that said other than that I can’t think of one thing that’s wrong with this tv, it’s insanely bright! Extremely clear and gaming was awesome, even regular Blu-Rays looked better on this 65 inch tv that I opted to get, it’s so close to OLED black levels and imo much brighter then any OLED on the market right now, so in my honest opinion I’d highly recommend this tv to anyone who doesn’t want to worry about potential burn in from an OLED, OLED TVs are better in terms of perfect black levels but they can’t compare to the level of brightness this tv can achieve, so if you like bright TVs and a cool solar power controller and a fantastic gaming experience I highly highly recommend this tv and don’t worry about the negative reviews it’s a great tv you simply won’t be disappointed!

I have to say, I've been a Sony Bravia loyalist for quite some time. But when we needed a TV that could push out higher nits and better reflection handling, this tv was the only option that I came across - across different lines of brands, so I pulled the trigger. I've been amazed since and really am enjoying this TV.
Cons:
tv does have some panel issues. Vertical bars when running DSE tests. Not as visible when watching movies or gaming, but can be seen when the screen displays one solid color or when a content has a panning scene.
Samsung plus is pretty annoying when trying to change apps. It's an automatic default and you have to switch out of that everytime the tv turns on.
Expert settings to advanced settings is not intuitive. Changing some settings blocks the screen and doesn't allow you to witness the changes in real time (I like the way Sony has their settings set up where you can see the adjustments)
Motion isn't the best and can see judder when Motion is off an on. More noticable on slow pans.
SOE turned on emits lots of interpolation artifacts and lots of ghosting effects.
Pros:
Bright image
Deep blacks, letter bars
Amazing color
Reflection handling is great
Game mode for PS5 at 120 is amazing
A killer price at $1799.
