Good features, but the unlit keypad is a dealbreak

However, there is a huge design flaw that I can't overlook: the keypad is not backlit. At this price point, I absolutely expected it to be. It is essentially unusable without turning on another light source, and trying to use it by feel is a mess. I want to like this machine, but this issue is frustrating enough that I'm already looking for a replacement, even though this one is less than 3 months old.

Currently, Samsung microwave models do not feature backlit keypads. For safe and accurate operation, we recommend using the appliance in a well-lit room, as it is not ideal to operate the microwave without adequate lighting.

And, we're very happy that the vent button is no longer next to the handle/opener. It looks really nice above our new Samsung gas range (also in Matte Black Steel).

That left me with a 1.3 cubic foot countertop microwave. It was never big enough. I changed all my appliances to white glass so the stainless steel vent hood had to go. The size of this microwave is just about as big as they come. I’ve only used it a few times but it does what it’s supposed to. My countertop microwave always flashes 12:00 because of regular power outages. With this new one, I couldn’t figure out how to even set the clock. It has a WiFi function but I didn’t feel I needed it. I went online and found that if it’s connected to WiFi, the clock is always on the right time. One more problem solved by buying new. I wish it had more white glass on the front but I understand you do need to see inside when it’s running.

It looks sleek and nice, so I will give it that. The only downside I don't like is that there is no internal light at all. You have zero ability to see what you're cooking or boiling in order to monitor it.

Amazing design, very modern like design. Smart device, it is a part of samsung's ecosystem software with SmartThings so i love being notified when my food is done or being able to control it via the app.
