I spent $3,300 on a Samsung series 8, LED flat panel over a year ago. It had a front facing camera, dualcore processor, hand-gesture and voice recognition, and much more. They said don't worry, this t.v. will never be obsolete because of the evolution kit designed with this model. I said, "ok great, I'm sold!"
Well, speed up to Jan 2015, a year and a half later. I buy this evolution kit, hoping it would solve all my many trouble from the past year and a half. Problems like the t.v. changing channels for no reason, asking what I said for no reason, randomly turning on and/or off for no reason, and literally interrupting my conversations to ask me "please speak up or I can't understand what you said."
This evolution kit I thought did the trick, the first 2 days. My new remote worked great. No more glitches. After 2 days, it all started back, but now worse. The remote doesn't work, period, at all. The I.U. is a little better. The processor is without a doubt faster. But now I'm forced to use the keyboard because no remotes work, period. New remote is awesome when it did work. Great new features but still wayyy too many glitches.

I'm sorry I did not know about upgradeing my Samsung. I have to purchase this unit every time I want to upgrade(every year that's what the sales person told me). Not happy. The Evolution kit is very expensive. Don't know If I will do it again. The only reason I did it was a friend bought a new Samsung and the remote is now a pointer. Wow! gotta have it, makes life easier. On the other hand, it's very easy to install!

I wasnt sure if the Evolution Kit would work based on some prior reviews but figured that it was worth a shot. I couldnt be happier. The new smarthub is great. The increase in processor speed definitely improves performance! I have a 2012 ES8000 now with the EV Kit I have the look and feel of a 2014 HD TV from Samsung. Hookup takes a few minutes then its another 5-10 minutes to run through the config wizard. Absolutely no complaints so far.

I was expecting updated graphics and newer better samsung apps. The new remote pointer is not that accurate. Overall, not much of an improvement. Maybe next year.

The written instructions do not cover installation when the tv already has a previous evoution kit installed, The new control is not as easy to use. I have to reset it quite often to get the pointer to work correctly.

Updates your tv but you will have some new things to get used to. The remote uses a track back rather than juat arrows - I'm finding using that very tricky to get used to

I had been debating getting the evolution kit - given that TV's have changed a lot in the last year and the evolution kit isn't pushed hard. The remote is better, but that is about it. It doesn't seem to bring any other great advantages in speed, or applications.

We have bought the Evolution Kit twice, it didn't work either time. We have given up for now. Maybe Samsung will work some glitches out and we can finally update our TV.

Awsome development team to come up with a solution for tv's that may grow out dated. The Evolution Kit brought me a whole new experience, in tv control. Thanks Samsung!

I have the 2012 model UN55ES7500F and was excited to get the 2014 evolution kit to update my Smart Hub interface and add some extra processing power to the tv. The kit was easy to install when the tv finally recognized it (took about 5 tries of inserting and removing). The new Smart Hub was nice and the remote that comes with it is really nice. However, I had several problems after installing. I reconnected the tv to my wireless network and was initially able to use Youtube with no problems. A couple of hours later, I tried watching content on the Explore 3D app (which I've done numerous times before the upgrade), and every time I hit Play, the app would say "format not supported." I thought this was odd as the initial start up page and content info were showing in 3D as they should. I then tried using Pandora and Youtube and was unable to connect to either, despite the tv saying I was indeed connected to the wireless network. The motion and voice control is supposed to be improved and more user friendly; however, mine seemed to be more sluggish and less responsive. Very disappointing. I contacted Samsung support which was of absolutely no help - the guy acted like he had never even heard of the evolution kit. I finally decided to uninstall the kit and see what happened. After doing so, all the apps began working again; Pandora and Youtube connected right away and Explore 3D played its content without any problems. I did not buy the 2013 evolution kit because I wanted to wait for any kinks and bugs to be worked out (as there always are some with new technology). Sadly, it seems Samsung still has some work to do. Perhaps I received a bad unit, but at this point, I will be returning this product for a refund, and I will continue to enjoy my "old" tv.

We bought a 2012 8000 series Samsung TV when we got.a get deal. Then in 2014 we were able to update to the 2012 to a 2014 model for.only 250.00 cant go wrong with that. We also got a new remote with it.

Great future-proof add-on

Though I have read a few negative reviews on this I must say that I have not had any problems with it. It is attached to a Samsung Plasma model# PN64F8500AF since the TV was new (just over a month now). I don't use the voice command on either of my TV that have it as this technology is not there yet for ANY manufacturer, even the OnStar on my car (which was designed to be 100% voice command) messes up all the time.
That being said, the pointer remote it comes with is great as it allows making any changes to the settings a quick snap. Any Samsung updates to the TV download automatically (that's how I have it set). Great way to future-proof an expensive TV (at least for now........)
