    Phenominal Android Tablet

I must first say before writing this review that I have tried several Android tablets, Windows tablets and even several iPads. I have learned to appreciate the differences in each device and their respective Operating Systems. With that being said on with the review. After using my sisters new Galaxy Note 3 10.1 2014 Edition I decided to go buy one of my own the very next day. This is my new Android go to tablet. The screen clarity is amazing my games, movies and shows via Netflix all look fantastic on this display. The tablet is very fast and responsive love the S-pen as well writing with it felt almost natural but I am still getting use to it. I have never really used my tablets to write notes with the pen just typing with the keyboard. I also really like the fact that my tablet had an option to disable the Google and Samsung apps that I would not be using. I was also able to uninstall a few of them without root access so this works great for me. I will be using this tablet as it came no rooting. I am not a really big fan of the touch wiz ui but it is actually pleasant to use on this device and appears much cleaner and refined than earlier versions. None the less I still opted to download and use the Kit Kat Launcher from the Play Store. This just has become my favorite launcher so it's just a matter of personal preference. The speakers on this device are also fantastic the sound has great clarity and my games, movies and music sounds great. The tablet is also very comfortable to hold despite being a 10.1 inch tablet it's not too heavy or bulky. I am also impressed with what Samsung did with the case on this device to me the design is very pleasant and stylish. Samsung did an excellent job with this tablet the processor,3 GB of RAM and the high resolution display are all a plus. I would have loved to catch this one on sale but I feel the money spent on this tablet was well worth it. Samsung has won me over again with this device. I will admit that I was sorely disappointed with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 model. But I truly feel that Samsung has redeemed themselves with this device and this is by far one of the best android tablets that I have owned. I am very pleased with this tablet and would recommend it to anyone who's budget will allow them to purchase this device.

I am a tech-savvy veterinary medical student and after my original ASUS Transformer finally bit the dust, I needed a tablet I could use in school. I was looking for a 10" model that offered: 1. great processing capability 2. bright, vivid screen that I could use to take digital notes on and could load high res images such as digital x-rays that I need to view for school This tablet is sleek and stylish, looks beautiful and the screen produces crisp images in vivid color. I will say the that the screen takes fingerprints quite easily but they aren't super visible when looking at the tablet straight on, and are easily cleaned off with a little screen cleaner and an appropriate cloth. So far is holding its battery life a full day on days I use it heavily and multiple days if I'm using it lightly. I generally take notes on PDFs using Adobe Reader and for the most part this is seamless. I don't play graphic heavy games on tablets so I can't comment on that but so far my crossword app has worked great! Web surfing on both Chrome and Firefox are awesome. Actually just realized I haven't even touched the built-in browser, so can't comment on that. I purchased a case from an outside retailer for MUCH less than the samsung smart cases. Don't waste your money there. The stylus is the reason you will buy this tablet and it does NOT disappoint. Recognizes handwriting really well (though I have pretty neat writing), able to draw beautiful fine, precise lines and write cleanly--coming from using a passive stylus with a round rubber tip, there is just no comparison--this is so much better. S-Notes is a great app as well (Samsung's built-in note app). Snaps really firmly into the tablet, I've never worried about it falling out, and the tablet immediately recognizes when you've removed the stylus. There is a small button on the stylus that you can press to bring up a menu and it does take a little time to get used to using the stylus without constantly pressing the button but that's a minor annoyance. Finally Samsung has built in some great new features like a multiwindow capability, ability to turn the screen off or pause the video you're watching when it detects you have looked away from the screen, separate images for lock screen and wall paper, and just some other small, nifty features. Basically the only downside is the price. This tablet is pricey, no doubt, and if you don't NEED a 10" and you're not going to use the stylus much, then I wouldn't pay extra for them--get a Nexus 7 which is all the tablet this has, a little smaller and no active stylus, but half the price. But if you're a stylus user or need a 10" model (which Google doesn't offer) you will not regret this purchase. Love it.

Good Tablet But Should Be a Bit Better

I have been a big Android supporter for several years and have been quite a fan of Samsung products. I have a Galaxy S3 and my wife has an S4. So here goes. Pros: Screen - The screen is absolutely beautiful. The colors are crisp, the resolution high, and it can get stunningly bright. Features - It has all of the newest Samsung Touch Wiz and Android 4.3 features. The S-Pen is very cool and the things you can do with it are pretty cool. I like how you can now drag pictures and such using Multiwindow over to the Email app to attach. Cons Performance - This tablet has some killer stats but for some reason it can be a bit laggy/stuttery when going from screen to screen on the home screen, or pulling up the app drawer, among other things. A tablet this awesome should not have such stutters. I am hopeful that once the people at XDA figure out how to root it without voiding the warranty counter that I can put a custom rom which will make it move much quicker. Features - The original Note 10.1 edition had what was called Cascade View, where you could open several windows up at once as well as doing the side by side view like the multiwindow functionality the Note 10.1 2014 edition has. The 2014 edition has lost this functionality unfortunately. You do have the ability to use the Pen Window, which is somewhat similar but is very limited (outside of rooting the device) in the apps it can open. In the old edition you could open almost all apps in fully resizable windows. So in conclusion, the tablet has a lot of functionality and a great screen but the lagginess that is sometimes encountered can be irritating to someone that likes lightning fast. The lag isnt the worst thing on the planet but for someone techy that likes things snappy (and understands they SHOULD be snappy with the hardware on this device) it can be bothersome. A more average person probably would not notice.

Pros: 1) It shares speed honors for all Android tablet with the Asus TF700 they are too close to call. Each winning battles back and forth for sheer power and speed. 2)It has split screen functions, meaning you can do two things side my side at the same time. Like read your email and do a web search on two separate screens yet on the same display screen. No other tablet can do that. 3)It has a very strong WiFi modem, it pulls in signal my other tablets don't.Nice Nice Nice. 4)It is one of the few tablets that pulls Wifi from both the 2.4 and the 5 bands. Exceptional. 5) The touch screen is extremely sensitive and it takes only the slightest of touch to registeryour input. I think because of the S Pen's needs for sensitive touch of over 1,000 ranges. I mean this touchscreen is the best I have ever used or touched. It tracks you finger movement extremely tightly. No noticeably lag, it is like the item you are moving is stuck to your finger. Most if not all Android tablets have some lag. So good job Samsung on that. 6) It has picture in picture video. You can run a movie on any screen and your can move the movie box around any where on your display surface. You can re-size it if it gets in the way. The display has settings like a TV or monitor, you adjust the color and tone. 7) It has a feature called Smart Stay, which is basicly a little eye that watches your eye. If you fall asleep watching a video, it shuts off. In the morning it has your place saved in the video where it shut off at. Nice feature for me. 8) It will handle up to a Micro 64GB SDXC storage card which writes up to 30mbps, really adding lots of extra storage since most tablets only support 32GB. Ipad and Nexus 7 don't support any on board. 9) It has a decent front camera for video chat, and the a decent rear camera with a flash, tablets are not cameras but this one is above average. 10) It has the S Pen, meaning your can write, draw and lots lots lots more. 11) The software is unique to this tablet only, meaning you can do things on this tablet no other tablet can do. There are some others, older, that have some features similar but not close to this guy. 12) It will convert your printing or hand writing into text. It plots and solves equations. 13) It will convert your hand drawn circles and squares to proper ones, making your look good. It just has too many features to list with the S Pen. 14) It comes with PhotoShop software and the only limit is your imagination. 15) It has front facing speakers like all tablets should have. 16) It comes in White and it is lite and attractive and with 2GBs of Ram and a 1.4 Samsung Quad Core, it is one of the fastest tablets on the market and only $499..Compare to the Excite 7.7 and it is easy to see the value. 17) It will handle HDMI to a big screen and USB keyboards, mice, game controllers, external hard drives, I have have tried a 500GB external hard drive, and it should do even larger, just pickup the adapters. Not expensive at all. 18) It has a real GPS. Works without WiFi. Blue Tooth and so much more... 19) It has too many Pros to list, really, I only scratched the surface. Oh, it is also an IR remote control for you home TV system, even controls cable or Direct TV, it learns your favorite shows and suggests them to you. Too much, for sure...love it...Oh, and if you have other Samsung products, like a Galaxy S 3, it talks to them as well with All Share...neat...it also has a very deluxe battery monitor system that has 4 sections with lots of graphs and setting and over heat warnings to get extra months of battery life.I later watched a Samsung 10 minute and he showed multi-tasking up to 5 functions at once. Email and Polaris on the 2 split screens, then adding picture in picture video on top of those two adding the calculator and another pop up screen, over the 4 programs already opens. 5 open screens at once on and Android SupervTablet. Versus Cons: 1) It gets a knock for only having a 1280x800 resolution display screen, but, really it has adjustments like a TV has and your can set picture settings. So no, it doesn't have Retina, but it does just fine without it. Since not many apps support those hi resolution displays anyway. It could not be priced at $499 if it had all it has, plus the over the top display. This one is just fine, and I am fussy. Speaking of fussy, since I do go back and forth with multiple tablets, the two things that keep this tablet from being 100% perfect for me are simple. The blacks are fine but could be deeper. The whites are fine but could be whiter. While using this tablet I don't notice this. When I switch back to another of my tablets, I am reminded of this fact. However, once I pick up this tablet, I forget all about it and just enjoy it for all it's features. 2) This is not an iPad, so it takes some effort to get the most out of it, so expect a learning curve for the S Pen, but it can be used as a basic Android tablet if you want to GROW into it. If you are a person with no computer skills, it may be a bit much for you. Then again, you can just use what you understand. Emails, videos, Facebook, Web Browsing, and you can have a lot of fun playing with the pen 3) Double edge sword, the good it will fully charge on a 5v source like a USB port or 5v power block, the bad is it takes up to 5 hours to charge. So best to charge at night. In contrast my Asus charges in 2 hour 15 minutes but on 5v and turned off, it will only charge 50% all night because it's wall charger is 12-15v. 4) The biggest CON is it took so long to get here..... Signed Happy New Owner...Cheers

    Amazing Tablet

I'm not a tech expert. So I can't and wont go into all the technical aspects of the tablet. I am a mom with four little kids, I have a lot going on and I wanted a tablet that did a lot. I wanted to be able to make notes, store pictures and media, skype with relatives out of state, and watch netflix as well as the obvious functions of a tablet like surfing the web. I am also a woman on a budget so I don't spend 550$ on something easily or often. I did a lot of research on tablets and I liked the features of this one. I like the Stylus. I love the idea of being able to write an action memo of a phone number, add it to my contacts and that contact going into my phone contacts. That is something that greatly appeals to me in my life. I often need to add an address, or map to things so the split screen an ability to use two aps at once is really useful. This tablet was well worth the cost for me. I have a note phone so they work very well together and it makes my life a bit easier. The screen is really nice, I enjoy watching netflix on it, and the pictures look amazing. I find the memory sufficient even without a memory card. I think it can be a bit laggy sometimes which is frustrating because it is an expensive tablet. I bought a bluetooth keyboard case for it which makes it basically a netbook when I need it, and a tablet when it don't. If you will use the stylus, if the screen matters, if adding memory matters, if you have a samsung phone and synching stuff matters this is a great tablet. If none of that is of interest then this may not be worth it. I love it and use it almost all day, from reading email, facebook, netflix, paying bills, shopping, getting recipes, sometimes all of that at once.

The Note 10.1 is my workhorse at the office and at home. I'm a project manager (read organizing nut), and this thing goes to every meeting so I can take notes and have information available. When I get home, I'm searching for and following recipes, checking out the latest status updates, following up on emails, and updating my calendar for the next adventure. I was able to find a decent cover online from a different retailer. The kickstand is awesome as I now can have it handy in the kitchen for recipes. The ability to have 2 apps open at once is awesome for looking at recipes and creating grocery list based on it. I have yet to try to have the same app open at once (how else can I look at 2 Evernotes at once?). The S-Pen has it's moments of usefulness, especially with the Quick Memo upon opening the cover (I jot down grocery items). The battery has been lasting 3ish days for me when being used at work and at home. I'm sure it could go longer if I didn't have so many alerts and apps running.

This is my first tablet and I love it. Mostly not having to sit at my desk for hours on end because this is so easy to take with me wherever I go and battery life is amazing. Picture quality is great, screen is heavy duty and I have not had any trouble with scratches. I have dropped the tablet once while in it's folio case and my heart dropped at that moment but all was okay, no problems. I'm overly excited about this tablet purchase because of the amazing deal I got at Best Buy during the holidays, not only was it on sale but I got to use a couple coupons and rewards certificates plus receiving other promotions and certificates in return for using in-store pickup. Being a smart shopper and looking for the best deals, Best Buy is usually the place for me.

I purchased this tablet for use as a pharmacy student. I could not have purchased a better product at the time. S1 Note makes taking notes on pdf or by hand super easy. Easily connects to Bluetooth keyboards, SUPER easy to write on, stylus is better than those on the market. Multitasking is the best feature of this tablet, having multiple windows open makes it easy to write papers, complete assignments, etc. Would reccommend to those that want a tablet for work/school.

I came from a ASUS TF300T and expected a huge improvement in the screen resolution and performance. What I got was mixed results. The screen is vastly better and is absolutely gorgeous. I am even fond of the fake leather back. What I didn't expect was lag when waking up and starting most apps. Swiping is fairly smooth but not in iPad smooth. Battery life is only average. With the S pen and countless other functionality advantages over iOS devices I am still quite pleased with tablet but feel that at $550 and with 2 quad core processors it should be lag free. Perhaps future software upgrades will improve this.

I've only had this tablet for a month but I love it! I initially wanted it to take with me to school for notes since it's lighter than my macbook. I love that I can look at lecture slides while taking notes and it's so easy to copy and paste pictures, graphs, and tables from the slides to my notes. I also love what I call the bonus features. It's the perfect size for watching movies on the go, and I love that I can connect it to my TV for watching youtube, netflix, or whatever, something that my husband's iPad mini can't do. Overall I'm very happy with this tablet and I've only begun to discover all that it can do.

Pros: Great Screen, good sound, Mainstream applications like Netflix work without a hitch, Spen, Haptic feedback with keyboard, fully featured keyboard, can remote desktop into Windows with the Remote Desktop App. Cons: Short battery life, Poor integration with Cloud, no Integration with Private Networks (at least nothing I can find), Application Permissions are too broad in scope (why does a recipe application require access to my contacts, accounts, and snap photos without my permission?), cannot turn off keyboard auto correct, cannot make the keyboard simply vanish or resize/change shape, at the click of a button, Spen needs more applications (Why is my note pad on a 10.1 keyboard so small?) Spen needs better integration into apps (sourly lacking in innovation Samsung - please make this the tool to have), Case is $80. Samsung, you can keep the case. I'm not buying it for $80. Over all I am happy with this tablet. Personally, I would have gone with the Windows Surface Pro 2 however I had some defective hardware, returned it, and went with plan B due to time constraints. The Samsung Tablet is chock full of features. I've had this for three weeks and I'm still finding stuff. And that's an issue with this product. I'm finding my way around the system and the interface. Also, Android, as a whole, doesn't integrate with home network well. If you have a folder share someone where on your network you'll have to find another way to share those photos and files. I haven't found a way yet to map a network drive. And cloud integration is still infantile at best. If I edit a document in cloud storage the edit is saved locally somewhere in the bowels of Android. I have to dig it out and then use magic to upload my edits back to the cloud. Come on Google.

I am totally happy with this purchase. Since I own a Galaxy 4 phone, the learning curve was minimal, and store salespeople were very helpful to teach me features I was unfamiliar with. The tablet has excellent battery life, although I don't view movies or play games on it. Screen resolution is exceptional, and the size is good for me. My wife has a Kindle Fire which she loves, but I like the screen and features on this tablet a lot more. Since I use it primarily at home with WIFI, or at my children's home with their WIFI, I have no problems with connectivity. So far I really like this product.

After checking a lot of reviews on the various tablets, finally decided on this tablet. Had been on the IPad bandwagon for several years, but the versatility of the Galaxy Note 2014 edition won me over. Have really started using the stylus to cut'n'paste notes while doing research on the internet, making it really easy to collate and sort the results. Was able to install most of the games I played on the IPad, and found a lot of new ones. If I had to change anything, I would make sure to get the 32gb version. Bought the 16gb version as they were sold out of the 32gb version and the Samsung person stated we could just add a memory card to make up the difference. Added a 64gb memory card to it, but am finding out that some apps do not copy down to the memory card. So memory is at a premium. Sure, it is more expensive that the Kindle and about the same as the IPad, but I feel I made the right choice.

I needed a new home computer but didn't want another desktop or laptop. So, after comparing several options, features, and prices I chose the Samsung Note 10.1 2014 Edition. Lightweight, mobility but the detachable stylist along with Stechbook Pro was the main reason I made the purchase. Love, love, love Stechbook. Being able to create, edit, save and share my work on a platform that allows me to take it anywhere, connect to other devices and WiFi network's is just awesome. Although, I've been a computer user for many years and enjoy my Galaxy S2 Smartphone; the Note 10.1 is an Awesome tool for this new generation of technology users, including myself.

All I have to say is that this device has it all. Multi-tasking, beautiful display, fast and zippy with almost no lag, wonderful s-pen, and everything else that you could want in an android tablet. There's no other android tablet that's anywhere near as good. IT's not perfect, but it's definitely up there with the iPad. I have friends who say they'd prefer this over their ipad.

This is my second Note 10.1. I loved my first one but wanted the ability to use 2 apps at the same time like my Samsung Galaxy S4 phone. I love the fact that I can mirror whats on my Samsung computer, Note 10.1 and phone so that I can see my documents and photos where ever I go! The Note 10.1 2014 Edition is easy to set up and use. I wasn't sure I'd like the change of placement of the speakers and S pen but they were very easy to get use to. I love the fact that it has a home row at the bottom just like my Galaxy S4 phone. Great job as usual Samsung!!! One draw back is that there aren't as many accessories available yet for the Note 10.1 2014 edition.

I bought a Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 inch tablet, which had a dead pixel. A few days later I decided I couldn't deal with it and chose to return it, and upgrade to the Note 10.1 2014. Could not possibly have made a better choice. This thing is a beast. OCTO-CORE processor, 3GB RAM, 2K resolution. I have yet to run an application that causes it to slow down. Images are clear and sharp, wi-fi is extremely reliable and the sound is clear. The S-Pen is a really handy tool, especially for precision clicking, and using drawing apps, it even registers pressure differences. The whole thing looks really slick, feels durable and has just about everything in the right places. I know some people are sick of buttons mounted on the bezel, there are 2 soft buttons there, and a hardware home button. It's exactly the arrangement I like though, the same layout that's on the Galaxy S3 phone. My gripes are minor but irritating nonetheless: The power cord is absolutely ridiculous. It's not even 3 feet long. Worthless. When this thing is plugged in, I can't even stand up straight to use it because the cord is so short. I don't know why they chose this, because the Galaxy Tab that I bought first had a much longer cord, and seemed to use the same connections, why not put the same cord in this box, too? Of course it's a specific Samsung cord, too, so trying to buy an aftermarket replacement won't do you any good, and the tablet won't charge properly with any other cable. I called Samsung to complain and they directed me to their official parts retailer... who only sells the same 3 foot cable. I'm just not impressed that the most expensive tablet on the market right now comes with such a restrictive power cable. I just went through my garage and found an extension cord, plugged that in and now I can at least use the thing while it's plugged in. I think that bothers me even more because it's really the biggest flaw the thing has. I bring the thing everywhere. The battery lasts quite a long time, and charges pretty quickly. The cameras are "okay", not spectacular. I do not regret this purchase at all, and I'm glad I brought back my Tab for it.

I purchased the Tab 10.1 and took it back for the Note 8, Ultimately bought the 2014. Best Buy truly honored their extended return Policy afforded to Elite Members, with no hassles. Save time and select this model if you got the cash. There is a learning curve, however there are numerous tutorials available. Split screen is great, S-Pen takes practice. This product has such a wide scope of uses it has essentially turned off my PC and lap top. A special note is the light weight, with the right case it is comfortable being held "palate style" in one hand with S-Pen in the other. Typing with the stylus is about as fast as 2 Thumbs , when held in one hand.

I would recommend this to a friend
