Hmm. Not good enough IMO
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I know the internet is swooning about this phone. Much of it is for good reason, but I'm not sold. Bought it on release day (64gig AT&T). Screen is beautiful and it's very fast. That's about where it stops for me. I dislike the sealed battery. Don't care about the SD card. I know the internet has been up in arms about these two changes and I shrugged it off. But in all actuality, I really miss having a slim extra battery to swap during the day. I do have a power brick, but it's aggravating to carry around. No good on the Apple-like change Samsung. No IR blaster. I knew this going in, thought it would be manageable. I am in hotels every week for work and got very accustomed to never touching the nasty remote controls in hotel rooms. Now I have to because the Note 5 is lacking the IR port. No good. It's connection to and functionality with the AT&T MicroCell is not reliable. MMS messages sit in the out box for an hour+ and often never get sent. Connection to the MicroCell comes and goes as the phone sits on my coffee table. Full bars on my wife's iPhone at all times. This is a no-go. I understand it's a Samsung firmware issue. The construction, while nice, is silly. Glass? There's a reason even Apple tried all glass, then went to aluminum on the back. Why is Samsung regressing to something we already know is a terrible idea? So you have to get a case on day one or risk dropping a thousand dollar phone. No good. I'm already getting lags and stutters. That's not what I expected for a $1,000 telephone. In all, it's going back and I picked up a new Note 4 for $300. Honestly, Samsung is pursuing the iCrowd with this device and I wish them luck. Sadly the Note line is being watered down to a shiny sealed box with even less functionality. And when the battery is flat at 7pm and I'm arriving at dinner, I can tell you having a battery pack with a wire tethered to the phone laying on the table is no good. I don't sit in an office all day so I can't have it charging. Wanted to like it so much, but not this generation Samsung.

Excellent Features!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I made the switch from the IPHONE 6. Had the IPHONE 6s Plus for a couple days, and it did not work out. The Note 5 has features on it that surpass anything I was doing on the Apple phones. Go get one, it's well worth it.

Happy convert from former iPhone user
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a dedicated iPhone user for 6 years. Was able to test drive this phone through Samsung's promotion and was pleasantly surprised by all the features that were new to me. The S-pen, while not necessary, does come in handy at times. The many tutorials and tips on the internet have really been very helpful.

Amazing phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned a lot of phones over the last 6 years, and this is by far the best. Sold my iPhone 6+ and got this on launch day. Amazing screen, beautiful materials, decent battery life, and great camera. I prefer pure Android, but TouchWiz is now completely livable with themes and launchers.

unreliable network connection vs. old phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using it for the last 12hrs. I was impressed with the display and processing power but there's been difficulties connecting to my mobile network and my private network at home. I worked for best buys project team for years and have been trained to connect pretty much any device to wireless networks but still had extreme difficulties. It took me almost half an hour of repeating the same steps over and over again. I have a reliable wireless network at my house but I had to sit right next to my router for a very lengthy time to connect. I turned off my mobile network because where I work now, in a Vegas casino, I don't get reliable service. Since I left work I turned it back on and my phone's been unable to reconnect to any mobile network. My old Samsung galaxy s4 active has never had a problem doing this. I was already going back because the best buy mobile guy that helped us out never let me know about a promo. The promo was for a free wireless charger and a $200 gift card if I would have traded in my old smart phone. I found the promo myself because it was the first offer that came up when i opened bestbuy.com while I was looking up cases for my new phone. I would have taken care of it then but my toddler was already upset waiting. With the connection problems I'm thinking about not worrying about the freebies and choosing a different phone. The two stars is for how impressive the phone's processing power is. The display is also impressive but didn't look as good as the s6 edge right next to it.

Not Bad
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife received this phone. Note 4 is still a beast of a phone but if you want newer then the Note 5 is for you. Octa-core processor makes streaming and opening multiple apps efficient. I ordered mine through ATT with Best Buy and the order has been delayed out 3 weeks. I'm going to return it along with the accessories and go through ATT directly just because of the hassle Best Buy has put me through of not being able to answer where my phone is. ATT knew.

Terrible Support from Samsung
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Samsung did NOT stand behind its product, the phone is great, however! The device did not work properly from the start, I set it up with a finger print security access plus as an alternate, a 4 digit pin, on day 1. On day 2 it did not recognize my finger print or pin!!!!! I returned to Best Buy for a fix, which was a factory reset! I asked for a New Phone from the Samsung Rep, she said no. Also the camera functionality was sporadic at best. I already had a vacation set a few days later and could not wait for a shipment of a REFURBISHED replacement. Went on vacation and returned 8 days later, still less than 30 days old and Samsung will repair or replace the device, at their discretion, the phone must be shipped to them, they will look it over, and maybe fix it or send another one out. But meanwhile I would have NO phone! Not an acceptable solution in my book. This was the ONLY solution I could get from Samsung Phone Support. The Company DOES NOT CARE!!! I suggested to the "supervisor" that I bought it from them and was corrected that they don't sell them another company does and Samsung shouldn't take care of this. Thankfully, AT&T saw it differently, and sent a refurbished phone out before I had to do without a phone. Great Samsung product, sometimes this happens, but terrible Samsung support!!! Plus terrible attitude from Samsung phone personnel. Good Luck with yours!

Hard Start
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After purchasing this phone I immediately loved it. There was a small glitch when it wouldn't recognize my fingerprint or let me sign in. Once I got that fixed and reset my phone it was good to go. It seems to work a lot faster than my LGG3. So glad I went back to the Galaxy Note.

Love this phone!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone has been a joy to own. I would not pay full MSRP now since it is over 1 year old but if you can find a good deal on it, I would get it. Can't wait for the Note 8 to be released in the fall!!!
