Though it came with free LTE for 2 years, it still needs to be connected to your phone via bluetooth to call and talk through the watch. So no leaving phone at home and just using the watch.

I had fallen recently in my home and could not walk to a phone to get help. The watch has the capability to call in emergency situation. It also counts the steps as I walk throughout the day.
