Best smartwatch out there currently. Pros: Battery lasts for days with normal use (always on disabled though). Samsung Pay is a breeze to setup and use S Health integration is seamless and very functional (prompts you for inactivity etc.) Rotating bezel makes devIce navigating a breeze Widea variety of watch faces for customization Cons Pricey Heart rate monitor will fail to deliver a reading, asking sensor to be cleaned. Not sure if it's my skin tone as it has happened across several devices

I've never thought I'll be jumping into the smartwatch wearable as I don't like how they look too techie! This changed my mind. Having a regular watch look with textured finish and water and dust proof make, It made me want to get one. The rotating bezel makes navigating the watch really easy. The selection of the watch faces and ability to make your own levels up the way you can customize your watch. The variety of watch bands that can be used also makes the watch feel unique. With heavy use, I will get about a day and a half use but with light use, it could go for 2-3 days. All notifications on your phone shows up on the phone as well. What separates it from everything is the ability to use samsung pay and earn points as well. This could potentially pay off the watch in the long run! Plus the amazement of cashiers on how you pay using your watch just adds a little wow factor! I'd love to see more apps develop for tizen phones but it doesn't stop me from admiring and using my Gear s3 frontier!

Gear S3 is a great smart watch for the first time smart watch crowd as well as a seasoned vet. Good battery life, great features. Pulse rate, stand alone GPS and Samsung Pay, just to name a few. Stylish watch faces built in or you can use watch face apps, I recommend Facer. Easy app navigation with rotating bezel or touchscreen. Sturdy and attractive build.

I did lots of smart watch research prior to my purchase as this is my first of the sort. I love the fast response, overall good looks, and comfort of the watch. I've found that things I thought would be important to me (gps, large display, navigation capability) are things I rarely use and the reasons I love it are things I never would have dreamt of. The best overall feature is Samsung Pay app. I use my watch to pay everywhere and freak people out. I also downloaded the watch face developer tool and have created dozens of faces that I change on the fly depending on my needs. I am not a fitness nut, so I didn't think I would care about those fratures. Without doing a thing, I found my sleeping patterns were horrible and I have high blood pressure. Overall, I love the watch. Could there be more useful apps, sure. It is not great for social media. It will tell you you have a FB message, but it still makes you go to your phone to read/reply to the message. The phone and speaker are also fantastic (I only have the wifi/BT version as I am never without my phone and didn't want another ATT contract). Battery life is 1 1/2 days with everything on, but charge time is fast. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Gear S3 Frontier seems rugged enough for most outdoor activities. Screen is clear and bright, even in direct sunlight. Battery life exceeded 24 hours with frequent use. Full charge took less than 3-hours from 15%. Setup using Samsung Gear app was a snap and sync'd easily with my Galaxy Note 5.. Samsung pay NFC works perfectly. GPS, steps tracking, and heart monitor are spot on. Downside is S-voice, which is clearly inferior to either Siri or Google. Also wished they partnered with My Fitness Pal, but find that using it with Lifesum is just as good (maybe even better). I am very happy with my purchase and glad I waited for the S3 since it is a big improvement over the S2 both in function and style.

I often bang my hand against wall or corners. Thanks to the strong build of this watch, it is still holding great. Had less expectations from Tizen OS but its well optimized and performs really well. Only downside is lack of apps but whatever is there is good enough. I don't expect to replace my phone with this watch anyway. Voice assistant sucks. Hope Samsung would improve that with updates. ACTIVITY and Sleep tracking are really good with this watch. Battery lasts about 4 days with nominal use. Overall, really satisfied with the watch.

I previously had a Gear Fit smartwatch but after about 4 years it quit on me. I decided to go with a bigger watch because it is more stylish and has better functionality. So far I like everything about it. It took a little bit to get used to the size but after about a month I forgot what it is like to have a smaller watch. It seems to keep track of my steps and floors fairly accurately and the HR monitor does what it is supposed to. Overall good watch.

The watch might not be as thin as some newer offerings, come to the table with as long of battery life, or have the absolute latest in features. However, it does make up with it by one feature many in the community wish would have been persisted into newer watches: Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST). MST is a technology that allows your watch to magically beam information to conventional card reader magnetic strips. This means that if a shop does not have a NFC/tap to pay terminal (REALLY common in the US still) you can still pay touch-less with your watch. In my opinion this increases usability of the device dramatically, to the point where I still haven't replaced it despite its age. Beyond that, the watch's specifications are what you'd expect out of a flagship from a few years ago. It's got a decent quality screen, an onboard GPS and microphone for navigating or calling someone through the watch (paired with phone). It has a nice feeling metal bezel which has survived and still looks great despite bashing my watch against things pretty often. All-in-all, you may not find the Gear S3 available at retailers in light of newer offerings, but I'd be darned if I didn't still recommend it in the off-chance you do. The 'function' part works hard in your favor to offset the newer 'form' advantages of today's smart watch products.

    Best watch I've owned

First off, I'd like to say that if you don't own a galaxy s6 or higher, than this watch wouldn't really be for you. All features are usable with a compatible samsung phone but other than that it's really great! I have an s7 edge so I have access to all the features this watch has to offer. The screen is the perfect size for me, even with the rotating bezel ( a great feature I might add) samsung is known for their bright, colorful screens and this Amoled screen is no different. The battery life on this watch is really good for my usage. I use it everyday for about 5 or more hours and it has never died on me. Granted I do charge it everynight when I go to bed. Depending on all the stuff you have on (i.e AOD, wifi, Bluetooth) the battery should still sufficient enough for maybe about 10 hours. This also depends on the amount of notifications you receive on your watch. The only reason why I have not given it a 5 star rating is because of the replying to message by voice feature. There are several different ways to reply to a text but the most common and efficient ( at least is supposed to be) is by talking to the mic on your watch. This a feature that was present on my moto 360 sport ( which worked flawlessly on it) I thought it would be the same, if not better, because of this watch being newer. I was completely wrong about that. I am not sure if it is my watch specifically or what. But I cannot for the life of me, get the watch to understand one word I am saying and type it in for me. It ALWAYS comes up as voice typing failure or something like that. I might take it back and see what bestbuy says or even just contact samsung about it but as of now ( May 28th, 2017) I am having problems with it. Overall, this is still the best watch I have ever owned and i am very lucky to have gotten it at such a low price as well. I traded in my moto 360 sport and got credit towards this watch which was really great!! Thank you BestBuy for your great customer service! I would highly recommend this watch to a samsung phone user. But other than that. Maybe try an android smart watch. The moto 360 second gen is a great choice. And there are plenty more to choose from! Also there is samsung pay present on the watch and the bands are switchable, but these aren't main features, just really nice add-ons.

Excellent Smart Watch Gear S3 Frontier BT Only

I have the gear S2. I have been waiting for Verizon to release LTE Gear S3 Frontier for months. Decided on open box Gear S3 BT only from Best Buy. The size is just right for me. It fits under shirt cuff of my newer dress shirts, but with older smaller dress shirts gets stuck on cuff. As compared to Gear S2 its stupid fast! Screen is larger which I need for I wear reading glasses and can see time on S3 without them. Interchangeable regular watch straps was an excellent move on samsungs part to not use proprietary straps that cost a fortune. I have found some awesome leather straps that go very well with grey metal Gear S3. One negative is Tizen app selection is sparse. But if you wonder why tizen, Samsung is in the forefront of the networked home via smarthings, so apps will just get better in the future along with more watchface choices as well. I dont use as fitness monitor. Battery life is stellar if screen is (not) set to always on, and wifi on (auto). I come home from work and easily have 78%. I use Artik app with smart things and can turn lights on off in my home (no Tizen Smarthings app yet).I will purchase LTE S3 frontier when available on Verizon. Buy one if your on the fence, take it back if not suitable.

    Awesome -Rugged- Smart Watch

First watch YouTube to see all the normal features. It does them extremely well! But what I love about this smart watch is the ruggedness. I am hard on gear. If it cant Keep up and it dies or gets broken- then I clearly need something else and I will write a review that tells the truth of WHY it didn't stand up to the challenge. This thing is worn everyday. Office work doesn't present much of a challenge. However, yard work- lots of digging and rock moving, planting and basically dirty jobs that can bang and scratch watches- presents no problem to this smart watch. Just rinse it off and put it back on. And its great when you have an incoming call and you cant get to your phone while you are in the middle of a task. Its great while driving- and stopped- as you can jut tap the instant message reply that you are driving and not TXT on your phone- because you don't want to be that guy. Works great doing all kinds of out doors stuff and stands up very well. Battery life is about 3 days depending on usage, of course.

I've been using Android Wear watches for the past few years, and after AW 2.0 proved to be an unstable mess, I decided to give Tizen a try. So far, so good. The Frontier is a very good-looking watch, feels far more premium than my AW watches. The rotating dial, once you get used to it, is definitely a superior way of navigating. Be warned -- this watch is BIG, almost ridiculously so, and it is a bit heavy. I have small wrists, so I was a bit self-conscious about wearing something this huge, but I have gotten used to it and I actually like having a smartwatch that looks and feels like a premium regular watch. Battery life is OK -- only once has it drained on me unexpectedly, not sure what happened, but since then I end the day with around 50%. The major problem with this is a lack of apps, but maybe that's only because I don't have a Samsung phone. Apparently, the Gear Store is different based on your phone, so things like Uber and Nest are not available to me and my LG G6. Had I known that before, I would have thought long and hard about buying the watch. Then I would have figured, "Wait, how many times did I use those apps on my AW watch?" and bought it anyway. Still, be forewarned -- the app situation is pretty pathetic for non-Samsung phone owners. Heart rate and step count seem fairly accurate, so as a fitness watch, it should be OK.

Purchased as a gift for my husband and he loves it. Great battery life, he loves that it's customizable for faces. We use ours for the gym so it's great for that. He got a metal band the same color as the face and now it looks awesome!

After I first saw release information on the Gear S3, I wanted it. I was afraid the buildup would lead to a let down, but so far I couldn't be happier. The watch is beautiful and looks great even on my smaller frame (this is to big for my wife, but I can pull it off even as a 5'8" small framed man). The Samsung pay option is a great option and should i decide to be active the S Active app is cool (stairs seem a bit spotty. If I go up quickly it doesn't pick them all up). I also love the different options to respond to messages (dictate using S-Voice, old fashioned number to letter typing like we did on our flip phones when texting started, or if you choose you can hand write each letter and it does a nice job recognizing). All in all, I am very happy with the watch and hope it holds up long term

I almost gave up on smart watches after having a Motorola 360. That was a great watch but after the battery life failed me many times I didn't want to wear it. This is all been fixed with the Samsung S3. It has a different operating system and very intuitive. I can keep the battery set to always display and use it throughout the day with plenty of battery remaining. The smart watch is truly the best one I've ever owned. The S Voice is clunky and I agree with others. But everything else this watch has to offer is perfect from exercise to notifications to being Wi-Fi enabled and having a microphone and speaker built-in to make phone calls it's a watch with a stylish design that I receive compliments on often.

I've always been an analog watch person, what held me back was the look of most smart watches, they didn't look stylish like the analog watches I love. I like large watches and the S3 fulfilled the style that I would look for in an analog watch. I like how I can simply change the face anytime for whatever my mood might be. The tech is nice and works seamlessly with my Samsung note 8 phone. I never thought I'd care how many steps I take per day, now I just keep walking to hit my goal if I haven't reached it before I go to bed. Great watch, great tech, and looks cool too!

I absolutely love this watch! It's a great addition to my Samsung 8 plus. It has a great battery life and a beautiful big screen. I was skeptical about the size since I'm a smaller female. But even with the huge face, it looks and feels great. The sound is great when making calls compared to my old Apple watch. This watch is light years ahead of its competition. I do wish there were more apps, but the available apps are good enough for me right now. I would highly recommend it, you will be glad you spent the money!

I've had the Gear 2, the Gear S2 classic, and now the Gear S3 frontier. Going from 2 to S2 classic, I loved the loss of the external charging contracts (instead having wireless charging) and looking much more like a watch. It lost more that I wasn't too happy about (like sleep tracking, among others), but they seemed to fix things slowly. I got the S3 Frontier and they went above and beyond. Much of what I've become accustomed to, is there in the S3 frontier. But beyond that, it added the GPS (separate from phone), a barometer, a larger screen, and seems to be built stronger than its predecessor, as well ("military grade"). My only complaint of the entire platform (Tinzen) is that, though better than it has been, there is still a lack of apps... Specifically common ones (like a SLACKER RADIO control, but does have a Spotify one). I don't know if this is Samsung's fault (for not pushing an SDK) or the developers (because they are lazy or don't wish to develop for Tinzen)... But that could change, and I hope out does.
