After purchasing a new Galaxy S8 (which I love) I decided that I just couldn't live without the S3 smart watch. I was wrong. The Tizen operating system is years behind the Apple smart watch and is actually quite boring!

Everything works great except the battery. The first couple of weeks the battery was good. Put the watch on at 8am and when I took it off at 11pm, would have 65% battery left. Now at 11pm I'm already in battery save mode and at 10%.

This is a solid watch and you can feel it when you put it on your wrist. It's secure and I love how the face rotates as part of its functionality. I do not like how all of its features are not available using iOS.

I bought this watch expecting a lot not received nothing. the options of what you can do with this watch are very limited. the step counter and exercise module do not work properly and are not accurate. the battery dies within a few hours if you have brightness up to %100 .. let's face it. this watch sux. You have been warned.

This watch replaced my Gear S model. I did not purchase the Gear S2 because it was too small and had some connectivity issues when I tested it. So far the S3 has performed flawlessly. It's not as bulky as the S model so I can easily access it from under my jacket now that it's getting chilly. The display is easy to read from any angle and there are tons of options for a watch face design to choose from (many of them are free). The pre loaded watch designs are good enough for any kind of everyday use. Haven't tested the waterproof capabilities yet, but I haven't had to take it off while washing stuff around the house or work. The watchbands that come with it are a little bit stiff and could be uncomfortable depending on how you wear them, but I found that Amazon carries all kinds of watchbands for it and I got a couple that feel super comfortable. The fact that this watch can take a regular band makes your comfort/style choices endless. Battery life is improved from my S model. I have it on the "Always on" display and have it set to give me all kinds of alerts and notifications throughout the day, after 10 hours of use I still have about 75% battery left. I always charge my phone and watch at night when I go to sleep so I don't know if it would be able to hold a charge for 2 days. The interface is easy to learn and you can master it in a few hours, the rotating bezel makes things easy. Typing on a small screen could be challenging; however, you have the little dictation icon on it so you can actually speak what you want to type. Voice recognition works great, I haven't had to re-dictate yet. The GPS is very accurate so you could use any program that would involve knowing your exact location, like Uber or Navigation. It also means that it tracks your distance and steps better than other wearables. Overall, a great looking watch capable of doing pretty much everything your phone does.

Great Watch but not with iPhone

I know that Samsung finally released the Gear app on the Apple App Store, but it just doesn't do much good. Unfortunately I didn't see Samsung's table of feature compatibility until after I purchased the watch. I have been a Samsung user for years, but after too many returns due to defective phones (S3, S4, S5, Note 4), I broke down and bought an iPhone 7 Plus. Because I and a Gear 2 Neo (with coroded charging ports that had to get replaced), I wanted another smart watch with my iPhone. I tried the Apple Watch Series 1, and it was OK, but when Samsung made the Gear S3 compatible, I bought it to try it. I really like it, I think it is a great watch, but it only does limited email, text, and notifications when paired with an iPhone. Because I bought the AT&T LTE version, I decided to pair the watch with my old (and only part-time functioning) Note 4. The watch came alive. So much better when paired with the Samsung phone. I did have to take the sim card out of my iPhone and put it in the Note 4 for about a day to get everything (including Samsung Pay) setup properly on the watch and phone. Then I put the sim card back in my iPhone and left the Note 4 at home, turned-on, and plugged in. The watch was able to connect remotely back to the phone for certain alerts, texts, phone calls, email, etc.. It was great, though still not quite the same. But, unfortunately, in this mode, the watch's battery wouldn't even last a day. It had to do too much switching to LTE and WiFi to maintain a connection. It did work much better than just being paired via Bluetooth to an iPhone, but not like it should. Under those circumstances, I thought the Apple Watch was the better option; even if it still annoys me a bit. I tried, but I ended up returning the Gear S3. Maybe one day Apple will make a decent watch or Samsung will be able to up their compatibility.

Calls are not forwarded to Gear S3

This is good looking watch that works only in bluetooth connection. As a standalone watch fails miserably because the remote connection between my unlocked Note 8 bought from bestbuy and the watch works only partially since the calls from my cell phone cannot be routed/forwarded to the watch. My advice is to save yourself from the trouble of this call forwarding, so if you like the design of the watch, maybe is better to buy the bluetooth only version since the gear cannot forward calls. I had this very issue with Gear S, which i had sell because of the call forwarding issue, I returned Gear S2 after trying to setup the fall forwarding through the Gear app. Gear S3 Frontier is the same. The Gear app cannot forward calls from my Note 8 to the watch. Samsung, fire your software team responsible for the Gear app.

Always dead

Love the watch and all the features. Battery life is a joke. Fully charged to fully dead in 11 hours. That's with nothing special turned on.
Since I work 12 hour days it's pretty useless as a watch as well.. bring it back within 14 days is kind of a joke when you live 200+ miles away. Do not recommend until they gets battery life greatly improved. Yes I reset to try and improve it. Didn't help.
When they fix the battery issue it's a definite buy.
