Great on sale, not so much at full price

Got this on sale for less than a hundred bucks - for a connect android device with 1TB hard drive - great deal! Hard to control with phone, and no remote included, but you can hook up a mouse or any usb controller (even PS3 controller) to get the thing to work. If you have a galaxy phone, this is basically a big galaxy phone viewed on your TV and controlled with your phone as a remote.

    Great Device for HTPC

This is a great little device to run as a HTPC. The 1 TB of space is a big plus in this set--up, and it is simple to set up. The only negative part is that the device has no dedicated remote!

I was thinking about buying the Samsung All-Share Cast ($80), so I went to Best Buy. They didn't have it, but they did have this item. It looked great, but the Samsung guys didn't really seem to know a lot about it. They couldn't make a number of the features work correctly, but assured me that was because they were unable to access the internet because of Best Buy's in-store restrictions and that the device would work beautifully once outside the store. I even brought my Galaxy Note 10.1 with me to see if it was compatible. The Samsung reps sync'd my tablet with the smart TV (not the HomeSync) and said, "See, it works!!" Once I got it home, guess what didn't work? Yeah, the tablet. Even though my tablet is less than a year old, the HomeSync would only work with the newest Samsung tablets - no backward compatibility for devices over 6 months old. Real value there. I was eventually able to get my phone to work with the device (Galaxy Mega), but then only intermittently and the apps were awful. The device is three times the price of an Apple iTV, but it can't even run Netflix or other common apps. It offers a 1TB HDD onboard, supposedly so you can store all of your info from all your devices on the HomeSync, like having your own personal home cloud. This sounds great, but the HomeSync only allows very limited access to the HDD and since it's not compatible with 90% of the rest of Samsung's own products, it's worthless. I was extremely disappointed with this piece of equipment and returned it as soon as possible the next day. Maybe Samsung will wise up and patch the crummy software this thing is running and expand its "accepted" list of compatible devices for those of us who don't update our tech every other month. Until then, I'd definitely recommend you spend your $300 on something else. This is definitely not worth the time or the headache.

I bought it to back up Pic and video from phone and it works great. I lost Pic from phone died and it wipe SD card, now that will not happen. The device was easy to setup, can view content from the road, backup happens automatically. It also turn you TV in to a smart TV, it has android play store, so it has all apps needed. Your phone becomes the homesync remote. Works very well. It was worth buying.

I like this box from the way it looks and the design. Work great, the only thing I don't know why some Android apps that work on Android phones but can't install on this box, error "The device is incompatible .....". I was able to download XBMC via browser (not via Google Play) and install, XBMC works well on this device.

I could not get the basic applications to install like with my smartTV, like Pandora and Netflix. No ETA no answers or why. I found Allshare hard to upload my music library or poor idea to work as a central server for my personal family movies and music library. Lacks in friendlyness like a 123 and go kind of player. Not enough value to replace my existing smartTV. Looks like a good idea as a hardware but the software and applications are trailing behind.

Great product to make a TV a "Smart TV"! Interacts with Galaxy tablets through mirroring function to access all the tablet's content. Only wish there were more apps such as Netflix and HBO to Go. Was told that they should be on a future update.

I got my HomeSync a couple weeks ago and I have really enjoyed the personal cloud. It works beautifully with my Note 3. Also found it works for my wife's iPad(Yuck) and my kids' Tab tablets. The only downside is the apps... Netflix, Hulu, Slacker, and others are "not compatible" with the unit yet. Thankfully my TV, Blu-Ray and gadgets make up for the loss. I home to see have good things happen with this device. Also I'm having a hard time connecting my laptop to the device, but I probably haven't figured it out yet.

We can all connect and watch/listen/download pictures but the apps are lacking on this. Netflix, hulu, and so many other apps are not available for this system yet because Samsung is still working through the licensing for this product. That is a big downside for us. You can control this thing via a remote on your phone or tablet and that takes some getting used to. On the plus side, I can connect to it from anywhere I go and it has a ton of storage. I would only recommend buying if you are willing to wait out the licensing and fixes. If not, the wait till they do. I see a lot of promise in this product I just hope Samsung doesn't let me down.

I love this device, no matter where I am I have access and storage capacity of 1 Terabyte....my own personal and secure cloud storage and home entertainment system. I LOVE being able to mirror my phone screen on my 65" TV, whether watching NETFLIX or checking out land I'm thinking of buying on Zillow or Google Earth my view goes from 4" to 65". I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to be able to store documents, pics, videos without taking up the limited storage on your phone but still have instant access to all that data via your mobile device no matter where you are. Love the homesync!!!

Great letdown after high hopes for the Samsung HomeSync. It's interface is not capable of indexing and playing media files on networked (or even USBed!) PCs. The HomeSync's Android OS interface has been designed to be the most user-unfriendly in history. You CAN USB it to your PC, then transport it to your TV and HDMI it in and watch movies. Gee, that's just like an external HDD!

Nothing More than a 1 TB Hard Drive for Storage

I have been a long time user of the Logitech Review Google Tv and was ready for a change. I started off reading up on the Homesync as a replacement and talked to the Samsung rep at Best Buy atleast 5 times. It was explained to me that this was going to work just as my Samsung Note 3 did. When I say that, I mean it is a samsung device running Andoid OS and allows access to the samsung app store. All applications I use on my phone (netflix, hulu, pandora, siriusxm, gmail, google drive, etc) would all be available for use and allow for 1 TB of storage. Here is a breakdown of what I saw Pros 1.) Allows for 1 TB of storage 2.) Can surf the web 3.) Screen Mirroring Cons 1.) When i called Samsung for help, the first person i talked to had no idea what the product was then it took 4 transfers to get to the right location. 2.) Very Very limited number of apps that were available in Google Play store. None of the applications that I or an average user would use were compatible with this device. Samsung support instructed me to download the apk and install it myself. This is a great way to void your warranty. 3.) Samsung apps store was very limited 4.) When I accessed the Google Now feature, it prompted me to update google play services. When I went to the store to update, I found out that I was already updated to the latest and greatest. In short, the only thing that fully worked and I could play with was the 1 TB of storage. I think this has potential to be a GREAT product, but for now it is nothing more than a $300 1 TB Storage device. Do not buy this product until it has been updated properly to allow full use.

It doesn't have the full market but you can download apps like Netflix, hulu, and vudu by side loading them. This is what Google TV should been I love it! Being able to access all my content movies, videos, pics and files from anywhere is great. It also has allshare cast built in. And the thing I love best is you don't even have to be on the same network to use it including the allshare cast and the remote. Thank you Samsung for making what Google couldn't. I even own a Sony Google TV, Roku, and chromecast. This is going to replace all them in my house. Thanks best buy for selling this!

This is a great product to manage your media, watch movies, side load apps like Xfinity's Go app, WatchESPN, Crackle, Pandora, Target Tickets, and Flixter. Connecting was easy, design is exceptional, and did I mention the price. Looking forward to using this for years to come!!
