Samsung soundbar review

It's pretty long so make sure you have enough space for whatever you sit it on. The setup was fairly easy and it connected to my tv with no problems. The subwoofer gives just enough bass to make you think you were in a theater. It's perfect for your room. No complaints here.

You can adjust the audio performance to your liking by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your soundbar remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, BASS BOOST, GAME, or ADAPTIVE fully taking advantage of everything that your soundbar has to offer.

But I am so glad I did! What a difference it made to my living room. My only issue (if you consider this one at all) is that when changing the volume the tv screen has several messages. Sometimes it shows a volume level number and sometimes just shows that the SB is in charge with a + above and a - below.

I was wrong. I'm an audio engineer with Grammy winners on my resume. I used the direct optical audio connection between the TV and the sound system as it should be the most reliable connection, but the soundbar loses connectivity regularly resulting in rapid staccato muting of the audio signal. It is incredibly annoying, and rebooting everything doesn't always restore functionality. The lack of published specifications is weak as well. My 15 year old Samsung 5.1 system which cost much less is far superior.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding the HW-B550 Soundbar. I am sorry to see that you are not fully pleased with your purchase.
There are some troubleshooting steps you can take before contacting Samsung Customer Service for additional help.
First, try using a new Digital Optical Cable, sometimes these cables do not work correctly right out of the box.
Next, updating the firmware on your soundbar gives you all the benefits of the latest improvements.
1. Go to the Samsung Electronics website (www.samsung.com) → click on the “Support” option in the upper right corner.
2. Click on “Manuals & Software” from the pop-up list > TVs & Home Theater > Home Theater > Select your model
2. Download the firmware file (USB type).
3. Unzip the file to create a folder with the file name.
4. Store the created folder in a USB and then connect it to the Soundbar.
5. A sequence of “UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON” will appear on the display 3 times. This will take a few minutes to complete.
- During the update, do not turn it off or remove the USB.
- If “UPDATE” does not appear on the display window, remove the power cord from the Soundbar and then reconnect it.
- If the latest version is installed, no update is performed.
6. After the 3 cycles are complete, the Soundbar will restart and the last source used will appear on the display for about 20 seconds and then it will go off (“UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON”) 3 times “D.IN” > off.
Keep in mind that the HW-B550 is a 2.1 channel Soundbar System. If you are wanting something that will exceed your older Samsung Soundbar, please look into our Q-Series lineup of soundbars as these offer much improved audio quality, more features, and more channels available.
