Having read positive advance reviews about this, I was excited to buy it. I also would rather use a hard drive than the cloud, so this was a great option. However, when I received it, the prong on the cord was bent. Seeing this lack of quality control or security in shipping/packaging made me doubt the quality of the overall product. I returned it.

Before I go into my review, I can't emphasize enough how knowledgeable the Best Buy associates are. I always learn something I didn't know before. I didn't even know what a Solid State Drive until I spoke with a Best Buy employee. After spending some time wandering around in the store, I decided to narrow my choices on the Best Buy website. I am a VERY picky shopper so I look HARD when I make purchases. This laptop had features that others in the same price range didn't. It has an ethernet port, a fast charging battery, an NVidia Graphics Card, an Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM (expandable), and a Solid State Drive. It doesn't have a CD drive, but I rarely use CD's anyways. Plus, it has a touch screen, and it can fold into a tablet. All of these features for the price make this laptop a good value.

love this laptop. the 128gb ssd makes start up so fast.
I am sad that the samsung burshed is gone. only the lid is brushed metal.
backlit keyboard is great. touchscreen is okay, sad that there is no palm detection; so using a stylus without a glove is impossible.
Powerful, pretty, battery that lasts about 5 hrs without any power saver modes, and performs as one would expect.
CONS:
the nvidia gpu is a gimmick; video games are a good test of this, it is only able to handle games that are a few years old. it cannot handle new games even on lowest setting.
volume control! there is a physical rocker for volume which i love but it is so close to the power button that i end up hitting the power button by accident. I do feel this is a large oversight from samsung.
conclusion: i love the 7 spin as a laptop, i did not buy it for the 'spin', If i could go back I would get the cheaper ones as the $1k doesn't have too many features to justify such a price.

So a little bit about myself. I am a Masters Degree Holding Physician Assistant....and would call myself an intermediate computer savvy user.
I researched Laptops for about 2 months before buying this Samsung Notebook 7 Spin, to replace a 5 year old (still running) Samsung Laptop recommended by Consumer Reports many years ago. I am going to use this computer for both personal and business use. This thing is blazing fast....and I've got to say being a first time Window's ten user....all the videos on how to use it offered by Microsoft have been very helpful. Like most things....you have to get on the bike....crash a few times....and then get up and keep a riding.
So I'm not a super techy guy....so I will spare you all the RAM, graphics, and whatever generation Intel processor this baby has....lol...but my suggestion is that you travel to wherever you can test drive this laptop...and compare it to others in the same price range. You will NOT be disappointed. Certainly worth every penny that I paid!

Best all around 2-in-1 on the market

I purchased this 2-in-1 laptop after I had returned two other previous laptops from the company that starts with the letter "D". I then decided to purchase a Samsung since I already have a Samsung phone and Samsung watch, and I'm quite satisfied with their quality. I really wanted a machine that could be able to handle a little gamming (i.e. discrete graphics card /w independent memory) but not weigh a ton, expel copious amounts of heat, have fans that sound like after-burners from the Concorde at takeoff; In addition I was also looking for a the functionality of a 2-in-1. Unfortunately there are few 2-in-1 that fit this tall order. Most 2-in-1's focus on power efficiency, being light weight, and looking cute. Then I came across this 2-in-1 that was the only machine that can do it ALL!!! Here is the good, bad, and the ugly:
The Good:
1. Nvida discrete graphics (really hard to find in a 2-in-1) for gaming
2. 1 Solid state drive and 1 separate Hard drive Means blazing start-up time (takes on a few seconds to boot)
3. USB C and USB 3.0
4.Crazy fast charging from 0% to 100% around 90 minutes.
5. Auto backlight keyboard
6. Trackpad is quite nice and a joy to use.
7. Does not get hot at all and fans are ridiculously quiet
8. Has metal construction, albeit with some plastic on the bottom cover.
9. Is upgradable
10. Battery life is OK (lasts about 6 hours with medium use)
The BAD:
1. No option for UHD screen (when using the screen up close in tablet mode pixels are noticible)
2. I don't know why they put USB 2.0 in this 2-in-1 at all. It has only 1 USB 3.0 port and two USB 2.0 ports. This should be vice versa!
3. No dual array Mic configuration
4. Web cam is low resolution 480p
The Ugly:
None.... it's a beautiful machine to look at!
All said in done this it an excellent machine and one of the most power 2-in-1's on the market. This machine can do it all, even some gaming on settings set to medium to good in the majority of cases! Highly recommended you will not be disappointed with this purchase!

Hardware rocks! So, so software

I had this for almost 3 weeks before returning it. There was nothing wrong with it (albeit a very slight hump by the keyboard area that you really had to look for it to notice), I just couldn't get used to the new Windows (I was coming from a Windows 7) so I was really bummed out.
Specs wise, this thing was exactly what I was looking for. I was worried that the i7 processor wouldn't be fast enough since it was the lowest end of the i7 series 6th gen but I had nothing to worry about. Perhaps it was the 16gb ram but this thing was blazing fast! Speed wasn't an issue. And it never heated up, even after using it for hours! It gets slightly warm near the middle of the keyboard area but that's about it. The fan's super quiet as well, even when it comes on. It's a very quiet laptop.
The ssd could have been bigger because out of the box, there was almost 40gbs taken up already and as soon as i updated, it went past that. Good thing there's the hard drive but since it's only 5400rpm, I couldn't really install processor intensive apps there. The screen was awesome! Since it was so thin though, it did wobble a bit every time I typed on it but it's super sharp so don't worry about it for day to day stuff. Touch screen is nice too but it is pretty big to use it as a tablet comfortably. It's not super heavy but not light either, pretty much average 15.6" laptop weight.
Speakers were great too, no complaints unless you listen to bass centric music. Just about every port was on there and usb 2.0 ports were almost as fast as the 3.0 ports (didn't use the type c port so can't comment on that). Battery life was average (about 4.5 hrs) but it charged fast! Keyboard was decent but not bad by any means. On the plus, you've got a number key pad and there's a separate function lock button! Never used it for games so can't comment on the graphics card. No issue with wi-fi either, browsing the web was super fast.
For the price and dual core processor, you really can't beat this. Other similar laptops might be faster, bigger ssd or 4k screens but they're usually more expensive or lack the ports. Besides some very minor quality issues (e.g., the aforementioned keyboard area, the bottom being plastic), it really is a solid laptop. I agonized for days because I really loved the hardware (because it was the best laptop I've ever had) but the software just didn't work out for me.

I am so glad Samsung came out with this laptop. Since I work with Photoshop and Illustrator daily, I was in need of a computer like this. My old laptop, 3 year old Samsung, while still good, just couldn't handle all the applications I use. The hinge is also very sturdy so it feels well built unlike other 360 laptops. Really happy with my purchase.
