great monitor sharp image but after 6 month a have some issues with it . i need to turn it off and on couple time to have right imagen back.

It is an excellent monitor. Good display with a high refresh rate.

The monitor was good at first, then only after about 20 days, the white and blue dead pixels regions were appeared on the screen. No any other hitting or collision, this is totally a quality issue. I am so disappointed with the Samsung.

Samsung Odyssey G5 is a monitor that I like owning and using especially for gaming sessions. There are tons of things here to love but HDR is overall lacking. Peak brightness got up to about 400 nits. That may put some people off but the display is extremely beautiful to look at. This is an excellent mix offering of the display, price, and features. The monitor itself is your typical 27-inch affair monitor; 2560 X 1440p @165hz with Samsung's new design choice for most of these G-branded monitors. Which to keep seems to be pretty durable all around and nicely crafted. Plastic but sturdy and the stand is V-shaped but does give plenty of space for the keyboard and doesn’t take up too much space on the desk. There is a ring on the back akin to the G9 but without RGB. The design is sleek, especially from a gamer aesthetic. Just nice a nice black color all around. The G50A is a flat-screen (not curved) like some models and is perfect for viewing content with no issues. G50A can also rotate into portrait mode clockwise only. Paired up with an RTX 3060 was playing games in no time. As usual, the G-Sync / Freesync was wonderful on here with gaming and a must-have for PC monitors. Frames sync with the monitor refresh rate and it’s something your eyes have to see if you are used to 60hz. I used HDMI at first and wasn’t getting the full feature set of the G5 (Max Refresh Rate Over HDMI is 144 Hz) but once I used the DisplayPort everything was smooth as butter. A DisplayPort is definitely recommended for this monitor and Samsung includes one in the box. The colors on the display itself look gorgeous and as usual, Samsung makes pretty displays. The viewing angle isn’t too bad, when standing above the display it tends to get a tad bit darker but nothing detrimental to the eyes. Out of the box, the display and colors may not do it for you but once you calibrate them to your liking it holds up respect with content. One thing I am slightly disappointed with and that’s HDR brightness. It’s low and some games (like Doom Eternal) don’t support HDR from this monitor. If you’re looking to get into HDR and looking for a cheaper way this G5 isn’t it. Outside of that everything else is beautiful on the display and I do like the colors. Gaming is its strong point with the content being 2nd. There are a ton of settings for Samsung‘s G odyssey monitors. Controls/buttons underneath the screen to navigate where you want and even save “Profiles” to switch color profiles on the fly. One of the highlights is a model in the options monitor that supports UltraWide view. This will put the G5 in a 21:9 but it will cut off a lot of real estate to reach that widescreen view; Cool but not a mode I would use. Fame counter which lets you keep tabs on how many frames in gameplay. Visual crosshair is a nice touch always having a center the screen for shooters. As for ports, there is an HDMI, DisplayPort, and 3.5mm audio out. No extra USB’s on this display. No sound or speakers. Overall: I really think it’s a good monitor for gaming, especially at this price point. You get so many features from Samsung that it’s worth it. Gaming and content are beautiful on the display. Some things are lacking like HDR and completely disappointed they miss the mark on that. I guess if anything I would like the 32-inch version of this and looking into that one as well. Also good if you just want to play your console on the screen as well (Especially the Xbox Series X support of 1440p.) so yes I would just recommend to any gamers/friends looking for a good monitor.

Worst Brand at all. In 3 weeks screen got flickers and vertical lines and I can’t even return it to best buy. My friend got same thing he also got same issue but fortunately he returned in one week. Probably best buy is selling in discount only because it was faulty. Samsung worst brand to choose. 400$ values nothing. Don’t buy it. Think twice before buying from best buy in discounted price they are also the main players.

Panel failed after 2 years. Contacted samsung and was told to buy the "newest model" as this one only has a 1 year limited warranty. This is the first monitor i have had that has failed for no reason. Purchase another brand.

When it hasn’t been started for a day, it starts up distorted and you have to unplug it over and over to get it to normal. It’s not the best monitor for sure. So I decided I was gonna have geek squad look at it. Of course every time you’d take it in, nothing happened. So they can not fix the problem til the problem displays itself to them.

Bottom line: I’ve been using this monitor for the past two weeks and once I got everything set up I have come to really like it. The display is super bright with rich color and respectable contrast. I have it connected via a DP cable to a RTX-3060 and all my games look great. I am using G-sync combined with some custom display settings that I saved in the 3 customizable buttons. This makes it very easy to change my display preferences from FPS to RTS to doing work by simply pressing one of the configurable buttons. The lack of USB-C video support and USB-A connectivity is a downside. I wasn’t impressed with the HDR image quality but using the pre-set gaming settings and tweaking the controls I was able to get the image quality I would expect from a really good monitor. The Samsung Odyssey G5 is an IPS display with QHD 2560x1440 resolution at a 165 hz refresh rate that supports Free Sync and G-Sync with a quick 1ms GtG response time. I found the display to be very bright on the default settings – almost too bright for non-gaming apps. The colors are vivid and bright without being over saturated. I was pleasantly surprised how dark the black areas were and how the display handled bright to dark differentiation. The only negative and it was a small one is that there was a very slight redish/yellowish cast to any white screens such as using Word. I found I could eliminate this by adjusting the color tone. The monitor supports HDR-10 but when you turn on HDR you have two options HDR Standard or HDR Dynamic and you lose the preset picture options for gaming. With HDR off you can choose FPS, RTS, RPG, AOS, sRGB, Cinema and Dynamic Contrast from the preset picture options. Personally I found that I liked the ability to select from presets vs the image quality provided by the HDR setting. There are three buttons that you can customize for Game/Picture settings and this definitely saves time when going between types of games or work apps. I ran the monitor through multiple tests to verify that there weren’t any bad pixels, to check for color and brightness uniformity and verify the 165 hz refresh rate. The monitor performed well and I didn’t have any noticeable backlight bleed or dead pixels. With G-Sync enabled at QHD resolution and 165 hz refresh rate everything looked clear and ran smoothly. I used my RTX-3060 GPU via the display port for the testing. Note that this monitor only supports a refresh rate of 144 hz when using the HDMI port. This monitor does not support USB-C video nor does it have USB-A ports for connecting USB devices. Setup: Most monitors these days attach to the stands in a toolless method so I was surprised that this one required a Phillips head screw driver. Once attached to the stand you can adjust the monitor for your desired height and angle. The stand legs are somewhat large and the monitor is a bit floppy but once you get it set it holds the position. On the bottom center of the monitor there is a joy stick control that you use to access the input source, the main menu, the power and the eye control. The joy stick control is easy to reach and use even when the monitor is in its lowest position. There are also 3 buttons next to the joy stick for custom game or picture settings. The power, HDMI, DP, USB Service port and headphone jack are on the back facing downward so connecting cables and accessing the ports can be difficult to reach. I updated the monitor’s firmware following the Samsung documentation using a USB drive. I downloaded the firmware onto a USB drive, plugged the drive in the monitor and then selected Update from the menu. The monitor then updated its firmware without issue.

I got this when on sale for 249.99. The picture seemed alright. But 1st one had stuck pixel that would not go away. Returned/replaced it and the second one had a blue line that would appear and disappear going down the screen. Returned that one and exchanged for a different brand. In my opinion its not worth the gamble at its normal price of 399.99.

The package arrived damaged, and the monitor had red green and blue lines covering the top right of the screen ruining the image completely. This was not an hour after receiving the product and was evident as soon as I set it up. Not worth the money and I was already refunded for the product. See image below for damage.

Purchased two. One had dead pixels right out of the box and the other had broken frame. I don’t care about the broken frame. That can happen during shipping. I’m concerned with dead pixels. I read several similar reviews about arriving with dead pixels. 100% these are not made well. I went with ASUS Tuff and I’m glad I did. They blow away Samsung!

So far works much better than the twice most expensive monitors i bought and returned for build quality reasons. Great for price i thing.

Purchased the open box excellent option and it arrived today with all of the parts on top of the screen. Unfortunately for a monitor the most important is the screen and there was no effort to secure the parts inside.

Bought it 2 months ago, the screen often has some vertical stripes when I open it. No external injury, I just use as normally. Even though it will back to normal if I wait some minutes and restart the screen, it's still bother me.

Works like a charm! Unlike most gaming monitors out there, this one can stand (rotate)!
