Worth it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great machine so far. It has excellent battery life, vibrant colors and a responsive touchscreen. Android apps have worked well. Very lightweight and portable. My only improvement suggestion would be a backlit keyboard.

An excellent little device with a few caveats
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this device primarily as a replacement for my laptop for day-to-day work. The device itself is solidly built and the smaller than usual keyboard did not cause me any of the issues that some others report. The tactile feedback is fine and I was able to adapt without issue to the smaller keys. The screen is AMAZING. All caps, no stop. It's so awesome that I find myself stopping to just look at how clear everything is, especially when its at full brightness while plugged in. I do not run it at full resolution as I've found that the system recommended resolution is fine for word processing and internet surfing. If I were to watch a movie I would definitely make sure I was getting the appropriate output but its a gorgeous screen either way. The S pen is not as integrated with Word or Google Docs as I had hoped given that the Pixelbook has a pen now. I would love to have the ability to write notes during a presentation in the margins as when with a client it is far less obtrusive to use a tablet than it is to use the chromebook as a laptop. I'm not sure whether to blame Samsung or Google or Microsoft here. Most of my work is done through a VPN or via online login platforms so the chromebook has nearly replaced my Windows laptop entirely and for the price, it cannot be beat. That being said, the native Word app does not seem to have integration with Google Drive which is mind numbing as it does support other platforms. Hopefully soon.

Great Chromebook, good pen support!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wouldn't necessarily recommend this as a first Chromebook, but if you have used any Chromebook before, this one is an upgrade. No other Chromebook under $1000 comes close (and I'm not sure the more expensive ones do either -- the screen on this one is great, and it has pen+pressure support).

MacOS to ChromeOS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When shopping chromebook, shop by hardware quality! This Samsung has it all! - The touch panel is quite responsive and quite beautiful - It's lightweight and durable - It's battery life is "decent". Though for the size of the device and how much processor power I'm pushing on the Core M3, the few hours I'm getting out of the battery is understandable. If you're migrating from a Full OS device to Chrome OS I would recommend this device. It's not too expensive, but still provides good quality hardware. Just keep the power supply on hand.

So far so good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a college student and this is perfect for quick assignments, emails, tests, and reading. It's also a great tablet for my son to use. I really love the large keyboard and the great screen. The only thing I don't like is the speaker quality.

Returned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ended up returning to purchase Samsung galaxy tab 3. Nothing personal against the chromebook but felt would gain more use from tablet.

Beautiful display but that's not enough.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the display. It's one of the best out there but, you I am fairly disappointed with the battery life. It clearly has a lot of pixels to play and that brings down the battery very quickly. Also, the biggest issue that I have with this Chromebook is the keyboard. The keyboard is very difficult to get used to. Also, the material used in the keyboard is extremely basic. Something you'd find in a $150 Chromebook. I can look past that but the way the keyboard has been set up due to the dimensions of the Chromebook, it's very difficult to get used to it. And for that reason, I am actually planning to exchange this for Asus Flip 302 which doesn't have high a resolution screen but it definitely has that premium keyboard, nicely laid out so you don't miss the truncated tab/delete buttons and I read that their battery performance is much superior to Samsung Chromebook Pro.

The Future Looks Good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very impressed with this Chromebook. I am writing this review right now with about 18 tabs open and there is absolutely no lag. The screen is simply magnificent, with bright vibrant colors and very responsive touch/scrolling. I am experiencing none of the reported problems with connecting to WiFi networks that have been an issue with some of the Samsung Chromebook Plus versions of this device. Battery life is good thus far, averaging around 8 hours with mixed usage of apps, web surfing, and video streaming. The size of this Chromebook is perfect for tossing into a bag and it is very slim. The black finish does pick up smudges fairly easily, but at least it seems durable and unlikely to flake off or scratch too easily. Palm rejection with the S-Pen is pretty good, but be aware that there is a decent amount of lag. I usually take notes and screenshots with the pen, so it is not a big deal for me, but artists may wish to look elsewhere. The screen aspect ratio, the overall size of the device, and the weight of this Chromebook make it pretty great to use in tablet mode. Suggestions for improvement: - A full size keyboard. This one is not too bad, but it does take some getting accustomed to, and typing speed is definitely negatively impacted a bit. - Back-lit keyboard would be nice - Speakers that pass for decent (the screen is wonderful for streaming Netflix, but you are going to want to use earbuds) - Continue to work on better implementation of Google Play apps (some will not work at all, while others will not up-size, so you are squinting at a little window the size of a 5" cell phone.

Best device I have ever owned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this device for 31 days before returning it due to a defective touchscreen. Apparently, a batch of early Pro and some Plus devices were fitted with the bad screen which causes what has been referred to as ghost or phantom clicking on the screen. Big props to Best Buy and Kara at the Lutherville shop for allowing a return on day 31 due to these issues. You have made me a very happy customer. Having said that, this is a wonderful device, the screen is better and brighter than anything I have used before, and I used this many times in bright sun on my deck and after cranking up the brightness, it was unbelievable how clear it was. I know there have been lots of remarks about the keyboard, but I actually liked the typing feel and got used to the reduced width on the far side keys including backspace rather quickly. As for backlighting, oh yes this would have made the device perfect, but with such a bright screen, I haven't missed it all that much. And how about the 3:2 form factor? I wasn't sure this was for me, but after going back to a 6:9 due to my return, I really miss the taller screen's display of web pages and apps, and it is really great in tablet mode, much more like a real tablet. I really prefer the matte black finish over silver, though as the other reviewer pointed out mine did pick up fingerprints very quickly. The trackpad was silky smooth, really the best I've ever had, and I know that some have said it doesn't click easily enough, but I just tap so that had no impact at all on my use. And the stylus was a pleasure. I have used the S pen on Note 5 and briefly on Note 7 and found it worked even better on the Pro. Note that the lag the other poster mentioned seemed to be there on Evernote and Keep, but using the Android app Squid, it was pure joy and absolutely no lag. This is a fantastic free app, so if you need to take free hand notes or draw, this one is a must to try out. Taking screenshots and annotating took me right back to my Note days, and I loved it. Build quality was really good, it's so light and easy to carry but seems very sturdy, hinges are tight and I saw no flex or creaking, of the case, though some other reviewers I've read have noted a creak to the sides of the trackpad This was my daily driver for the last four weeks so I ran it with lots of tabs open all of the time, easily 12 to 18 at a time. Android apps worked reasonably well, with a crash here and there, though still very much in beta, the ones I tried worked well enough. Battery lasted me a full work day, so I would say easily 7-8 hours of use, perhaps longer if I wasn't using it persistently and kept the brightness down to about 80%, which is much more than enough inside. If you are down on Chromebooks, you really should try one. I've been using Apple and Windows devices since the mid 80's, teaching computer software for a living, and though reluctant at first, am really liking the ChromeOS experience after the last year. After selling my MacBook Pro for an Acer R11, I quickly sold my Windows desktop, and purchased an Asus Chromebox for my office. I can tell you honestly, I don't miss either of those OS's. So those are my impressions, still looking forward to using this great device again when my order arrives next week. J

Top of the Line Chromebook
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used Chromebooks almost exclusively for my personal computing since purchasing my 2011 Samsung Chromebook. This Samsung is a HUGE leap from my previous model. If you already are familiar with the Chromebook ecosystem, this upgrade can definitely be worth it. I love the crisp HD display, touchscreen, USB-C ports, and Play Store app integration. The biggest negative is personal preference in that I don't expect to use the flip feature much, if ever. I'd prefer a thicker and angled keyboard more like a laptop. This one is very thin and flat (to help with the flip features). Absolutely nothing wrong with it, I'd just prefer something more traditional. I've had excellent battery life and based on my last Chromebook running strong (and fast!) yet after 6 years of daily use, I'm expecting this one to do the same. I mainly upgraded due to needing newer hardware to have Play Store capabilities. If you're buying a Chromebook, you can't miss with this one. As far as price, I was able to use a lot of Best Buy Reward dollars to significantly reduce the price.
