I had bought this to keep track of my dog. She loves to escape and run around the neighborhood. It's great at keeping track of her, but the battery life is okay. It lasts for about a couple of weeks, then you need to recharge.

Have to remember to check battery. Wouldn't mind paying more for it to got a longer battery life. Aside from that I like it. My spouse has memory problems so it's in his glove compartment for me to be able to see where he is. We have phone Life360 tracker but doesn't work if he forgets his phone or have it turned off.

Bought it and now want more. Smaller than I initially thought, what is a good thing, full gps mapping and navigation on the item that’s being tracked. Very useful.

Seems to work ok. Tracking is a bit delayed, but it works. It’s sometimes hard to figure out if the tracker is on or off. Had trouble connecting to network on occasion.

This overall is a great tracker. Battery life could be a little better, but it's not terrible. Accuracy is on point! One downside is only the first year is free.

The quality of these units seems to vary WILDLY. This is our 3rd for using on a dog collar, encased in a waterproof case, etc. This one never did lock onto GPS signal and report back very well. With COVID going on and all the chaos, getting any support from Samsung is basically a lost cause. Not sure I'll even pursue it, but it seems like it should be replaced under warranty. The first two we had, one always worked better than the other... and thankfully the good one was not destroyed by the dogs going through water. The one unit has been reliable for over a year and we LOVE IT. Wish the quality was consistent enough for me to recommend this hands down... you MAY get lucky, or you may get a lemon. This most recent purchase is a lemon and there is no support available to us. BOOOOO

This tracker is great in the idea, that it will help you keep track of a loved one, or item. It works off of AT&T's cellular LTE service, so for the most part, it has pretty good coverage. It also comes with a year of FREE cellular service. If you like the device and want to continue using it past the year date, it's only $5.00 per month, which is actually pretty reasonable for this service. the kicker here is that the real time GPS eats up the battery life. The website says that you can expect 4-5 days of typical use, and up to 10 days in standby. However, I was unable to make it 2 full days, on a full charge. I probably hit the "live tracking" button twice, which to be fair, it warns you that this feature is straining on the battery. this feature can only be activated for 10 minutes at a time. So if you are looking for a detailed check sheet of where this has been all day, it's not gonna happen. Your best bet is to set up the "Zones" that you would like this device to be monitored going into and out of. I did receive automatic notices from the device, as it entered and left each area, within 1 minute of it happening. (which this worked good, but you can only set up 2 zones for the device), So this part is just as limiting as the other features. So after probably a dozen, position updates, and two live tracking runs, this unit was dead in about 30 or so hours. I got a notice this morning before I sent it out, that the device was low on battery. It lasted 4 hours with only 1 update. I did a position check at noon, and it returned a message that it was dead. I think you can get at least 24 hours of moderate use on these. It also has an ip rating of 68, so it can be placed on a pet, I guess, but that rating is only good for 30 minutes in up to 5 feet of water..So you better trust your pet, not to submerge himself in water all day. The size is acceptable, especially for having a built in GPS. Looks wise, it is pretty nice, with the rounded edges. .and very plane markings. The only redeeming use for this, would be to put it in a car, where it can be constantly plugged in, and then manually keep hitting the live tracking button for a better description of it's daily where abouts. Otherwise, whomever you have it attached to , is gonna have to charge it everyday before they go out. So, just to recap, this is perfect for someone that wants to be located and monitored, as they would need to charge and maintain it everyday. OR left plugged into a constant power source in a van or car - so that it can handle the constant position requests, and live tracking hits( foronly ten minutes at a time)

Bought this device to track a work truck while on vacation was told would hold a charge for a long time I explained I needed to track my vehicle for ten days. Well needless to say it was dead in two days and I had to call People to try a get it to charge which out the driver knowing. Also had to ask People to try and watch out for it driving around and guess what because the tracker died I could not call them about driving around. Unreturnable also again told I could return if I didn’t like it but return policy to short. Now I am stuck with a worthless device

Thank you for your review of the SmartThings Tracker! I am sorry to hear that the battery life of the Tracker is not meeting your expectations. The battery life varies based several factors, including the frequency of location updates. Power saving mode can help to optimize and extend battery life for the Tracker. You can find information on expected battery life, and instructions for turning on power saving mode, on our Support page here -- https://support.smartthings.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001389283. I wrote a review of this over a week ago and it never appeared here. Why? I have downgraded my review an additional star due to still no satisfactory response on this from Samsung. I purchased 2 of these in December for my kids to carry in Mexico for a visit. Batteries lasted 2 days max unless you put continuous tracking on in which case they seemed to last less than a day. Resolution of location was very inaccurate and I doubt that we could have found anyone if necessary. After our return, I intended to leave 1 in a vehicle regularly parked in an urban area in the event of theft. But again, the battery always needed recharging and on one of the days that I was recharging the device, the vehicle was stolen. I let the devices just sit until July at which time I figured that as I had spent $160 on these things, I might as well get some use out of them. Of the 2 identical devices, 1 was found immediately by the app while the other was not and remains unrecognized and useless. I have been in contact by email with SmartThings Tech support for 6 weeks. Beyond sending me the same instructions as on the web site to connect the device (they sent me these same instructions about 8 times) they have done nothing. At this point , I'm not really even interested in owning this anymore but according to Samsung, I can't get a refund, only an exchange. The exchange has been processing for over 2 weeks now (they say they are having trouble with their exchange tool. What does this even mean?) Are they trying to wear me out so that I go away? The device itself has terrible battery life and lousy resolution. After this experience with their tech people, I would never buy anything from SmartThings. Save yourself the aggravation.

We are sorry to hear of your experience with the SmartThings Tracker, Timjo1! This is definitely not what we want our customers to go through. We’d love the chance to make this right for you, but we need some more information to do so. In order to locate the support ticket, we will need your Samsung Account information. Rather than posting your email here for all to see, you can email our team at [email protected]. We hope to hear from you soon! ~Samsung Brand Ambassador Samsung

I purchased the tracker to put on my little ones backpack. To make sure she gets on the right bus, etc. So far, it works about 1/3 of the time. The rest of the time it shows disconnected. If I were only tracking a suitcase or a car, I wouldn't mind the constant lack of connectivity. But, since it's my kid, I need something much more reliable. Which this is not. Also, the tracker I got uses AT&T which has a great signal in my area.

I use this as a pet tracker for my cat. I put it on his harness/leash and let him in the fenced back yard. It just lets me know where he is. Hes a cat so he can hide. But it always finds him within a pretty good area. I am pleased. Only thing I wish was the app having a higher resolution satellite photo for the tracking part.

PROS - Size - App - Accurate Tracking CONS - Battery Life - Month Cost - No third-party support OVERALL This tiny IP68 tracker offers accurate GPS tracking and moderate battery life for the price though the reoccurring cost of cellular service may be too high to justify. REVIEW Samsung is branching out of the home with this tiny LTE-M tracker. I was excited to see the ability to GPS track people and assets outside of my home. It’s easy to setup, especially if you already utilize Samsung SmartThings and their app. Simply hold down the single button to turn it on and add the device in the app. You can select what type of object you are tracking – for me I am using it for my car. You can also use it for other objects, pets, and members of your family. The tracker itself is small, white, and unassuming. It has a single button and LED which shows status. Samsung says the device is IP-68 and it does feel sturdy and while I am worried that the micro USB is exposed – I haven’t had any issues with the device after it getting wet. USB-C would have been a nice feature given all their phones use this now. The software gets the job done, but improvements could put it over the top. It integrates well with all the Samsung SmartThings aspects like geofencing and trigger actions. As for features specific to the device you can setup two zones that will trigger notifications, though I wish they allowed for more. Additionally, you can view the status on a map including viewing the path the tracker has taken, polling for its current location, and turning on live tracking mode, which will refresh every minute (this will drain the battery exponentially faster). There is still an opportunity to integrate with things like IFTTT or provide a web interface to download tracker data which would be particularly useful for those who hike - a lot of tracker devices have this integration so Samsung is missing out here. Battery life is about what they advertise – I’m getting around 4-5 days with a full charge when it isn’t plugged in. I think this tracker is great when you can actually plug the device in continuously. I keep it plugged into the USB in my car which keeps the device completely charged. I still wish the battery life was better, even if it meant a slightly larger device. Chances are you are throwing this in a bag so it needs to be durable, but size was never a concern. Considering all the scenarios that you can use this the device in, the GPS always gave an accurate location (within a couple hundred feet) whether it was in a parking garage, pocket, backpack, or glovebox. Then comes the reoccurring cost. The first year you will get tracking for free, and then after that it runs $50 annually. In my opinion for the amount of data being transmitted this cost is too high. With no flexibility in how you start or stop tracking you will most likely be paying for the plan when you aren’t using it.

I purchased this product to use as a tracking method for my 10 year old daughter. She is beginning to gain more independence so I wanted a non-intrusive way to monitor her location. Overall, the product is meeting my needs. The connection process was very simple. All I did was power on the Tracker and the SmartThings app on my phone automatically recognized the new device. Now the Tracker is attached to the inside of my daughters backup and working great. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to have an idea where their children are during the day.
