Bought this to use to backup the files on my wife's laptop. Like that it is "Solid State", small in size. Connected it to the docking station that the laptop is connected to. All is good.

This is a very nice device. It is a replacement for a horrifically bad device, a portable SSD made by SanDisk/Western Digital. The Samsung is fast, runs at its rated speed, I’ve seen essentially a GB/second transfer, and easy to use.

My back up drive on my computer was going bad. Best Buy geek squad could no recover the data. Sent me to a specialty shop to do this. Needed a back up drive for them to transfer the data to. This worked perfectly.

I am so hurt right now. For years I had been storing all my personal pics and videos on SSDs because I have sensitive data that I didn't want to expose to the cloud. For years I had been storing these on a sandisk SSD but it was only 1 Tb and I was running out of room. I bought this SSD last year because of the great reviews and because it was advertised as being "durable". I ported all my files to it and it worked well for a couple months until recently. I did a backup of all my files about a week ago and all seemed good. I could see all my photos and videos. Today I plugged it in to my phone (also samsung) to do another backup and it said that the drive was corrupt and needed to be formatted. I clicked ok to format it because I had this issue with HDDs before and everytime I formatted them I never lost data.
Well this time I did because apparently the formatting process completely wiped the drive clean or somehow the data was so corrupted that I lost ALL my data. Everything. Hours of precious videos and pics of my baby girl just gone. I know it was not user error because I always make sure to properly unmount the drive before unplugging it from my phone or computer. I am extremely meticulous about ensuring the drive is properly unmounted to avoid this exact situation. I have NEVER had this issue with my sandisk SSD that I have been using for half a decade. Or any of the HDDs I have used to store game data (I specifically chose an SSD because they don't have moving parts and are supposed to be more reliable than HDDs).
I am so hurt right now, I am sobbing with rage and regret for having trusted samsung with all my most precious family photos and videos. I had this SSD less than a year before it failed in spectacular fashion and I have lost so much, it is like losing all your family home videos and pics in a fire. Not to mention all the other files, I had years worth of documents, tax documents, complex personal coding projects I had poured, important court paperwork, hudnreds, maybe thousands of hours of work, all gone. I had a less than a TB stored on this stupid thing before it failed. Words can't describe the dissapointment and regret I feel. Even if I get a full refund it could never replace the sentimental value of all the pics and videos I lost. Hands down one of the worst days of the year, maybe of my entire life.
Samsung stands behind the quality and performance of every T7 Shield SSD we manufacture with a limited 3-year manufacturer’s warranty when purchased brand-new, directly from any authorized dealer.
We hope to hear from you soon.

I’ve been using this for my work. I like how small it is and how fast it can transfer the files. Also it is compatible with any devices. I’ve beeen using it with iMac, iPad pro and PC. Highly recommended.

Caught this on salez and I'm glad I did. I have been using the 500GB model from 2 years ago, so this was a must buy for me. While my other one still, I needed more storage. This one is also more durable, love it.

I originally bought a SanDisk Extreme 2TB, but after reading all the failures with it, I decided to switch to Samsung.
The speeds of the Samsung are fast and it's a rugged product.
Very happy.

The only Samsung product I purchase and support for its durability, reliability and ease of use. Mainly use the drive for editing and storing video and digital files on a Mac Os.

I gave it to my wife because she had problems with standard portable external hard drives. She loves the fact that you can move it even if it is plugged in to your computer.

This external drive is one of the best I've ever had. It's fallen down on the floor multiple times and also mistakenly has been left on my deck under the rain for night to morning, no damage or lack of function.
