Samsung may have released these too early to compete in the Internet of Things (IoT) scene. It's a great idea, but either we received defective products, or these just aren't that great. Battery life is marginal at best (about 2 months) and loss of connectivity is frequent. These are pretty considerable problems if you're relying on them to report when you have a water leak. I'm researching to find a better replacement for these. Nice try Samsung, but no cigar. Maybe they will improve on their next release.

Dunno if it works or not?

I'm assuming it works fine but won't really know until there's been a leak. Placement is a little confusing as well since it doesn't come with anything to stick in place in any surface.

Battery life close to 50% when connected - looks like old stock. Otherwise, no issues with connectivity.

Hubs make sense for loads of sensors but committing to samsung over another brand is a big decision.

Unlike there smart switches and other devices that can be seen in Alexa through the SmartThings app this can not be, but why it really gets a one star is the total lake of alert you can add when water is detected, all you can do is the app notification, you can’t setup a email or text alert or even have Alexa announce water been detected, switching to the ring water sensor that can do what you would think are basic functions.

Excellent leak sensor

When I moved our water heater and HVAC to the attic 3 years ago, my wife warned me that if there were any leaks that she would be very unhappy. Put all of the systems in pans and put a leak
sensor in each pan. While I was at it, I got sensors for under each bathroom sink and toilet and under the refrigerator, dishwasher and washing machine. In 3 years I am just starting to need to replace batteries. Most are still showing greater than 80% life remaining. Connected to electric water shut off valve and notification to me through SmartThings hub. Got some water into the attic through a wall vent during a hurricane last year that triggered one of the sensors. Otherwise they just have provided a lot of peace of mind.

I returned this because there was was no audio alert to my Iphone if the water sensor was activated. I had to call up the sensor to see if my basement was flooded.
