Its been a few years since I've seen a really good disaster movie, since around 2004 with The Day After Tomorrow landed in theatres (2012 was good to an extent, and Sharknado doesn't count), and this one is probably the best one since Independence Day for sure. A good cast with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson leading the charge with very impressive results, some spectacular visuals with the earthquake and aftershocks, and some great stunt work. The Blu Ray helps in the enjoyment with a pitch perfect 1080p picture and Dolby Atmos (Listened it in 5.1 but still rocks the foundation) that's deep and bassy enough to register on the Richter scale. The extras, while not expansive, fill up enough of the gap to satisfy most fans, starting with the commentary. Brad Peyton's track, his very first, is very detailed and eloquently told, with some wonderful BTS stories and production details to pique interest.The BBY exclusive does include over a half hour of BTS featurettes along with the standard featurettes, and they cover some ground, though nothing groundbreaking (Pun not intended) and nothing compared to a feature length making-of, but does solid work. Some nice deleted scenes with optional commentary, a gag reel, a DVD copy with decent PQ/AQ and the commentary, the UV digital copy and an exclusive lenticular slipcover wrap up this beautiful, but fairly shallow package. Not worth $24.99, but $20 and less is a fine price point for demo worthy PQ/AQ and limited extras. Recommended but to an extent.

This was a good movie, entertaining! Not saying there were a couple of times where it wasn’t predictable. But overall a good movie!

This movie is constantly moving and full of action. It keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole way. Absolutely LOVED it in 3D. Highly recommend

For a natural disaster flick, it's OK. The acting is cheesy, but it adds to the charm of the film. Looks good on Bluray.

The Rock makes any action movie better, disaster movies make great 3d action scenes with lots of flying debris in your face.

Dude! What a rush! Man, incredible film! But after watching the movie, I have no desire to visit Hoover Dam-I’d still visit California tho

A typical Rock movie with all the action and stunts. A very good movie track that kept my subs very busy and rocking.

San Andreas had me on the edge of my seat,I lost track of how many times I said "OMG". Just when you thought the worst is over, something even worse happens. The special effects where incredible sending you through a whole range of emotions,rendering you unprepared for what you would feel next and/or to what extent. The amazing, cinematic, awesome inspiring epic sequences were absolutely brilliant. A great depiction of a mind boggling earthquake,followed by a tsunami. This actually really frightened me into thinking about the serious,loss of human life and devastation this type of disaster would cause if it were to really happen,bone chilling to say the least. There were great performances by all actors and actresses e.g. Dwayne Johnson as an outstanding helicopter rescue pilot who gave us a preview of his skill during an opening scene depicting a nearly impossible accident rescue. Paul Giamatti fit very well as the seismologist scientist. The family drama offered a more personal slant,making it a great ultimate survival story and suspenseful movie. A definite must see for fans of movies like 2012 and Day After Tomorrow,this action-packed film will knock your socks off.

Fantastic. I feel like Dwayne Johnson doesn't get the same baseline judgement as other actors due to his origins, and sometimes gets poor reviews due to the wrestling background. In this case, he plays an excellent role, routinely with nuance. The daughter character (Blake) is a good one, well fleshed with both vulnerabilities and strengths, a reasonable and realistic character, as is the mother (Emma) and Ben. While there are some impossibilities regarding magnitude and follow-on disasters, it's a reasonable premise and believable story line. The effects are excellent, the story moves well, and the action manages to be fast and hard but also reasonable and realistic. The extraneous characters are as good as the main four or six. I judge a book by how much I want to NOT read those last pages because I don't want it to end, and by how much I want to know what happens to the characters at the end. This movie checks both those boxes. Really excellent. Definitely on the shelf to rewatch going forward.

Of all the disaster flicks, this is my favorite by far! Great story, acting and action! Non-stop fun!

First of all I've heard friends complaining about this movie, but I thought it was great! I didn't go into this movie expecting it to be a great Oscar winning performance, I primarily went because I enjoy a good action/disaster movie, and I don't expect for everything to be completely believable. I go to suspend the reality I live in and to watch a little fantasy. I enjoy Dwayne Johnson's movies because I believe he is a great action actor. So needless to say if you are like my friends and your wanting to see a great dramatic, believable movie you will be disappointed. BUT if you are like me and want to watch something fun and suspend your reality a little then I think you would enjoy this.

Still have not watched yet, but this is definitely a good movie for 3D. Looking forward to checking it out

Action packed with great graphics and don't forget Dolby atmos... sound effects were amazing!
