My wife went to see this movie in the theaters and said that the action was so over the top that it was funny. I couldn't agree more. It's a great blast of a film and if you keep that in mind, you shouldn't be disappointed. The blu-ray video quality and audio depth are wonderful. I struggled on giving this 5 stars, as the comic value really makes the movie. I was happy to add it to the library and would recommend it, although would not pay full price for it. Wait for a good sale.

First, it has a good story line and is well paced...character development is also good. What kicked this over the top for me was the special effects. Well done. Cliff hanger moments do abound throughout the movie, which are predictable but fun all the same. The Blu ray 3D version is well worth adding to any movie goers at home collection. Especially to watch on those rainy or snowy days where some microwave popcorn, a tall cold soda, and a just for fun movie can make your day!

my family watched this last night when our cable went out and we had no tv. everyone really enjoed it from 7 years old to almost 50. one or two parts were a little too realisitic for the 10 year old, but they were quickly over and we were back to enjoying the movie. for me, a few scenes were a littlle too much, really, another building is going to fall on the rock at just the right dramatic timing? overall, good movie if you don't think to hard about it.

Every year there is the “World’s gonna getcha flick” and most are just trash (short of Day after Tomarrow, love that one). This one gets one thing right though!! The visuals. Wow in 4K this thing dazzles! Story is decent (bit tired of seeing The Rock but hey I get it; the guy is the size of a mountain and can act, good recruitment Hollywood) would recommend to people looking for a beautiful movie, not necessarily a captivating story.

I purchased "San Andreas" as soon as I could after renting it once. This movie received mediocre ratings ,but I totally disagree. The critics are just people discussing their personal opinions, but here is mine, and I am an avid movie collector. This movie is awesome in its cinematography and special effects and also has a great plot. In 2D its great , in 3D its awesome. A must have for 3D collections.

My wife hates disaster movies but I love them. She refuses to watch them but I will watch GOOD ones numerous times. Not that I'm a disaster freak, but I'm always intrigued by the special effects , whether or not the story is good or lame and how well the actors embrace the role. This movie scores on all levels for me. Yes, the story is predictable but Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) makes this work in ways that another actor couldn't. For a disaster movie, this is right up there with Towering Inferno.

Think of this movie as every disaster movie rolled into one. I enjoyed San Andreas a lot and they certainly managed to cram almost every survival scenario into one movie. I highly recommend you see San Andreas if you like disaster movies, once the action gets started there are very few slow points, at only two hours long the movie does not feel drawn out - you won't be bored by the end of it. Watch it with big sound and a big screen if you can.

Think of this movie as every disaster movie rolled into one. I enjoyed San Andreas a lot and they certainly managed to cram almost every survival scenario into one movie. When the movie started I thought it would be insanely cheesy with some of the lines Dwayne Johnson was saying, but luckily it got much better. Don't get me wrong, there were certainly cheesy parts (certain romances, and cliches) but when you see the first 5 minutes you'll know what I mean about expecting it to be way cheesier.

I enjoyed the movie, it had plenty of action, and was about what I expected it to be. My only complaint is that some of these movies are $35-$40, and you watch them one time and are done with them. I know 3-D movies are cool technology, but the massive price increase compared to the regular version of Blu-Rays seems no longer justified. If they want 3-D to catch on, they need to start reducing the prices of 3-D Blu-Rays, which cost a buck or two to make.

This may not be for everyone, but I happen to like an action filled disaster movie once in awhile. Dwayne Johnson was (again) a terrific hero, the action great and the story line very believable. If you liked movies like Volcano, Asteroid and Dante's Peak, you will like this one. It was really scary watching what could happen to LA if "the big one" hit because it was quite realistic. It is a definite A+ action disaster movie in my book.

    Great SFX, but...

It's a disaster movie, so some things are expected: Stalwart action hero, love interest, young character(s) for the kids to identify with, and, of course, a Disaster. San Andreas has all these. In fact, the gigantic earthquake and its side effects steal the show. In this case, that is not a good thing. We see scene after scene of apocalyptic destruction--skyscrapers burning, skyscrapers falling over, skyscrapers collapsing, skyscrapers splitting down the middle. As the previews attest there is also a monstrous tsunami that comes rolling in. After a while, I became indifferent to the fates of the action hero, his wife, his daughter, and the charismatic English chaps. I couldn't get past thinking how many tens of thousands of others would be dying in the ginormous catastrophes that kept swirling around the lead characters. Yes, I know it's only a movie, but the allure of disaster movies is showing interesting characters overcoming adversity. San Andreas left me with the feeling that the lead characters' survival was due more to script immunity than to any overcoming they did. The SFX get it five stars, the insignificance of the lead characters get it one star, so split the difference. As for recommending this, I wish there was a Yes/No/Maybe choice. I'd "maybe" recommend this if I could. As it is...

Super amazing LOWS when it comes to sound, as well as great 4K color and sharpness. The rumble will leave your subs very satisfied by the end. Very good use of the overhead effects channels in my 7.2.4 system. Like other titles played over cable, they just squeeze out many of the dynamic lows and highs. The physical media is so much better!

For those who enjoy natural disaster movies with grand special effects, this one doesn't disappoint. The central characters help to ground the natural mayhem within the context of a family desperately trying to reunite while simultaneously trying to survive the onslaught of collapsing buildings and tsunamis. Good stuff, but I had to dock it one star for being a little over-the-top in the way folks manage to survive death-defying situations.

Another good job from The Rock, Wayne Johnson: story makes sense, current context, many outside the box considerations & possibilities, decent humanizing appropriate humor, great effects, makes the Blu-ray detail pay off. The physics of motorboating up the wave into the monster freighter was pushing it, but dramatic & unexpected, exposed prop - wow. Panorama & airial imagery - wow. Would be good to show in a physics, Earth science, or EMT class for student observations.

I'm not a critic, I watch movies mainly for the entertainment. I really like Dwayne, however he just fell short of 'being realistic'. Situations were too far fetched to be realistic thus detracting from the suspense. Could have been the presentation. More 'entertaining' than than on the edge of your seat 'suspense'. Being in 3D Blu-ray naturally the graphic were clear and sharp, at times making you feel 'a part of the action'.

If you like Dwayne Johnson in action movies, you'll love this one. Yes the story line is a bit of a stretch from reality but its a better action flick than most of his previous ones and it moves at a pretty fast pace after the first few minutes. Definitely better to watch on a big screen with good audio as that enhances "the Rock" moving from one life-ending interaction to another, but even a smaller TV will provide non-stop entertainment for action movie buffs.

San Andreas really scares and makes you think about what would/will actually happen when the next big quake hits, When, Where and What you'll be doing, at that moment, can be incredibly important. The power the earth has when its plates shift and move is incredible. The after-effects can be tremendous, as we've witnessed throughout the world over the past several years. Yikes!! We each need someone like the "Rock" to save and get us through such an ordeal!!!

So you know they say that this could actually happen to California anytime. And I think this movie shows us how bad it could be. Just imagine how many ppl would loose there like lives. That be such a devastating day. This is a great movies. Great action. Shows a great story line of a mother n father trying to find there daughter. And about how some ppl only care bout themselves n others will risk there lives for someone they don't even know !

If you're reading this you're probably wondering just how oiled up is Dwyane Johnson? Does he glisten in the sun like the Furious 7? Oh yes he does, dude looks like he jumped in a 55 gallon drum of baby oil. It's a disaster action movie, you will not be stumped as to what is going on, it's an earthquake and stuff is blowing up like woah. If you like mindless action and a yolked Samoan this is the movie for you.
