quality litte mp3 player

this player is quite good. ive had for about a month now and have had no problems. the size and weight are nice, you can clip it to any part of your clothing. it has a fm radio which makes the 4gb storage seem like plenty. even if 4gb is actually plenty and you just like to lament. while i havent really found a use for the voice recording, ive tested it and it works well. also, you can record the radio, good quality. the only real down side is the way it allows access to the mp3's. it is really easy to just play all the songs but getting to one specific one can be daunting. at least for me as many of my mp3's just have file names and others have various portions of the tags completed. maybe theres an easy way around this i havent found yet. with that being my only complaint i would have to say that this is a quality product.

Have owned another, larger SanDisk Sansa 4GB MP3 Player for a few years, and have been very satisfied with it. Saw this one advertized at a great price, and I had wanted a smaller player, so I bought it. I'm amazed at how good the sound quality is, even with the earbuds that came with it. In fact, these earbuds are every bit as good as Skullcandy ones that I had purchased to use with my older SanDisk player.
The SanDisk Sansa Clip+ is small - and I mean SMALL, but so far, it's been easy to use, and it's held up well to frequent trips to the gym. I clip it to my shirt, and contrary to other reviews, the clips holds well, and hasn't broken easily like others have said. Even when I hit it on something, the worse that has happened is that it paused playing, and I just hit the button to resume play.
Battery life has been good in my opinion, but it is still fairly new. Seems to play on and on. Have had the player for a few months now, and have only had to recharge it once. Only complaint is that the battery indicator still showed about half charge when it went dead and I had to charge it.
For the price, you can't beat it. Highly recommend it.

Good Unit but not very durable

This is the second one I have received after exchanging the first one because the power button stopped working. I was so impressed with the sound quality however that I decided to try another one. It's small and compact but has a big sound. The earphones that come with the unit are comparable to the Bose earphones I purchased earlier for $100. It's very easy to load music to it and it has some cool additional features. Though it would probably affect the price of the unit, I wish I could queue songs that I wanted to hear without having to wait until one CD is played before I play another one. I also wish Sansa would include an adapter so the unit could charge will you are listening to songs.

This player is WONDERFUL!!!

This is the best player I have ever owned. I started out with an 8GB Ipod Nano. The thrill of that wore of fast with so many compatibility issues. It was more trouble than it was worth. I ended up moving all of my music over to my Blackberry Storm that has a 16GB memory chip and I used the Ipod for my Audio books only. I have a 2 hour commute each day so I love listening to audiobooks during my long drive. It became such a problem constantly converting the WMA files that I download from the local Library to an MP3 format that the Ipod would accept only to have it be converted again to another format once on the Ipod that I could not then move it to another MP3 player without again having to convert the file. Why does Ipod make things so difficult? This little guy was so cheap I thought I would give it a shot. When I received it I was so pleasantly surprised by the ease of use. The filing system is very easy to use and creating playlists is a breeze. The best part is, it is compatible with my other players!!! minus the Ipod of course. I have given my Ipod to my husband. Let him deal with the headaches. I am able to download protected WMA audiobook files straight to the player without any conversions. What used to take me an hour of downloading and converting now takes about 10 minutes. The internal memory of 4GB allows me to download about 5 books at a time. More than I ever could need at one time. The best part is the player accepts up to a 16GB memory chip. Just for giggles I took the 16GB memory chip out of my Blackberry and put it in the player and all of my music was accessible by the player. After such problems with Ipod compatibility I really didn't think such a thing could ever be so easy. So now, if I want to go to the gym and not carry my bulky phone with me I can just pop out the memory card and place it in this teeny tiny little player and I have access to all of my music. When I am done I just pop it back in my phone. I can not tell you how much I LOVE this player!!!!

I have owned the Sansa Clip plus for about a week now, and use it constantly at the gym. The size is very good for me, very small and you can clip it anywhere. The sound quality is also pretty good for a device that is this inexpensive. The best part about this device is the fact that you can expand the memory through the micro SD card slot. I notice when you do use a micro SD card that it takes a while to refresh the library. The build kind of feels a little cheap, thats my only beef.

Great MP3 Player for Kids

I got 2 of these MP3 players for my kids (3 & 5) for Christmas 2011. They have had them a year and put them through a more vigorous test than most adults would. They are still playing great and frankly have very little evidence of being dropped, stepped on, spilled on, and any other damage a kid can do.
The readout is small but self-explanatory so the kids are able to navigate to what they want to hear. Starts-up and shuts-down quickly and the battery lasts a long time. It is very small (so small it could get lost in a grown-ups front pocket :)), but perfect for the kids.
For me, I like the fact you can drag and drop songs into the player, create playlists quickly, and not have to use a program like iTunes and re-sync every time you add or remove songs.
I highly recommend this MP3 player for anyone who has kids or wants a small and durable MP3 player. The clip is nice for the gym or other exercise as well.

Oh my gosh!!
After watching the grandkids with all this stuff in their ears-I thought there must be something to this thing-and after considerable research and a lot of questions (mostly price) features and we did not want to unload songs from the internet we chose this deal from BB and we were able to choose the 1000 slot cart for all the hits from the 50's and 60' for 49.99---This thing not only sounds good it is really easy to read the screen and small enough to fit in the pocket--I am sooooooo impressed!!The FM radio is easy to use and we do not have to download any music (yet)--This is an unreal buy for folks li9ke me that are electronically challenged--
Buy it--you will not be disappointed!

Great mp3 player, great value.

I've owned four different mp3 players over the last ten or so years before purchasing this one, and this one is by FAR the easiest to use. You don't need to use any special music transfer software to load music on it. All you need to do is drag and drop mp3 files from your computer to the player's music file...it's that simple! It's like transfering files to a USB thumb drive.
I bought this player for only $40, then added an 8GB micro SD card ($25) for a total of 12GB. A 12GB player for only $65! This thing stores an amazing amount of songs in a tiny little package, which is exactly what I wanted. Something small that I can use at the gym and on bike rides.
The sound quality is great, however I don't use the stock earbuds.

Awesome MP3 Player for the Money

My 6 year old 2nd generation Nano kicked the bucket recently and rather than send it away to have it repaired (again) I decided it would be less expensive just to buy a new mp3 player and probably something not from Apple. I browsed online for a bit and then decided to stop by WalMart and see what they had. After being unimpressed with the selection and lack of help I went to Best Buy and I'm glad I did. After looking up and down the mp3 player aisle I settled on a 4G Sansa Clip+ that was on sale for just 35 bucks. Not expecting much for the price I have been blown away by the value of this little bugger. After using iTunes for most of my life it took me a while to get the hang of Windows Media Player to get my music on this thing but once I did it was great. The sound quality is just as good and powerful if not better than my Nano and the Sansa clip has an adjustable equalizer which the Nano only had presets. The display is very easy to read and use and the square pad, power and volume buttons are well placed and easy to use as well. The clip is dandy as you can clip it to anything: your clothes, a desk, a shelf and it stays put which is really nice. This thing does nearly everything my Nano did only much better and some things it didn't do. It shuffles or you can go through the menus and pick out songs, artists, albums, etc. It also has a built in fm radio and a microphone for recording reminders, grocery lists, etc. Maybe the coolest feature is a micro memory card slot so you could expand this thing to a 32 G! player although I have found the 4G more than sufficient for my use. I have 450 songs on it and still have room for probably 200-300 more. It also supports preloaded cards, slot radio cards, audio books, and podcasts.
You're probably thinking well is there anything bad about it? Well there really isn't. The only minor quibble I have is that the battery is advertised at lasting 15 hours and it runs out at about 10 or 11 but that is better than my Nano ever was as well. Also I have heard that if you have a card in the slot it drains faster but I cannot speak to this. The only other quibble would be that it being a non-Apple product you cannot use it with iTunes and it obviously doesn't have a real scroll wheel but these are very minor quibbles for a 35 dollar mp3 player with amazing sound quality and features.
Overall I'm very pleased with this player and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive mp3 player with big sound and features. You will not be disappointed.

MP3 player that does its job well

I wanted a new mp3 player to use at work so I could listen to some tunes. Now, the market out there is ridiculou for different types of mp3 players, and I spent many a day doing research on them. Finally, when it all came down to it, I wanted my mp3 player to... well... do just that. Play mp3s. This product is perfect for what it was designed to do. There's none of the extra junk that comes with other shinier much more expensive players out there. I bought my wife an iPod touch, and I gotta say, I'd much rather have my tiny Sansa Clip than that thing. I just want to listen to songs. I don't want to check the news and post what I'm doing on facebook. Plus with the microSD slot which will automatically integrate all of your music together (both on the internal and external memory) you can expand the memory to infinity and beyond!
Bottom line: I can have more memory than an iPod touch for half the price and still have it do exactly what I would use an iPod touch for, plus it's more portable.

Great bang for the buck, good thing small package!

This has been a really great purchase! For the very reasonable price, you get a tiny little package that's rich with features. I have a few basic needs in a portable player and these are; It has to be seen as a USB Mass storage device(no DLC laden apps here), it has to play FLAC and maybe OGG files, it has to have good battery life, and not weigh me down. This does all of these things nicely. What's better, just throw a microSD card in the thing to really give it a huge amount of storage.
If I had to cite one complaint, it doesn't provide deep resonate sound quality, especially with MP3s, but this isn't meant to be your home theatre. It does what it does for a fair price, it's vastly expandable in capacity, it's tiny and just at home exercising, running, skiing, through the car stereo and sitting at the desk at work. I'm sure it could be more durable too, but it's light enough to survive most drops to the floor and short of anyone sitting on it accidentally should hold up well.
I truly wish I'd found this earlier. It's replaced a heavy, clunky, iAudio player that cost 4x as much and didn't last more than a year.
If this is the form factor and feature set you're looking for, look no further.
I feel obliged to point out a weird setting that threw me for a loop. In the settings, you can change the USB mode it uses. The exact name escapes me now, but only one of the modes will allow the computer to see it as a USB Mass Storage device, and for me this was not the default. The default mode is for DRM equipped media(who uses that?) and the non-default just treats it like any other USB device. It also reset to the default after a firmware update. If you just want to see it like an external drive(which is by far, IMO, the easiest way to use it), change that default USB mode setting.
Best to all!

Bought this to use the FM tuner at the gym to hear news on the gym TVs. FM tuner range has been adequate for that and for listening to local sports games, but fades occasionally with orientation. It was really simple to download what music I already had on my PC using the included software. Has plenty of music storage for my needs. It's small size makes it easy to use and to carry when it is not in use. The clip works well to secure it to your belt of whatever. My 6 year old grandson figured out the menu system, so you probably won't have any trouble with the controls. In all, I feel I got adequate value for what I paid.

Despite complaints of units not working even out of the box, i took my chances and I am very pleased so far. Will be a good player for taking out to gym and snowboarding.
It is the editor's choice from cnet.com, and the clip is known for pumping out one of the best sounds, and I agree. The player an awesome range, good bass. The headphones...well...one of the worst i've seen that come with a player but like player makes up for the sound.
Small but good OLED display, i put it on the dimmest setting to save battery and its still very legible. Simple layout.
I thought about buying the old clip but didn't like the design and felt cheap. The clip+ doesn't look or feel as cheap as the older version
So far I have no cons. It has randomly shut off couple times but not a big annoyance...and oh, i wish the microSD card slot had a cover. I feel like dust will get in there, so im planning on buying a card to expand and cover up the slot
For its price, great player

Sansa Clip+ 4GB* MP3 Player - Black

I've had it for just under a month as I'm writing this, so I can't vouch for its longevity, but so far, it's working fine. The sound is pretty good. I can hear my podcasts on BART which anyone who lives in the Bay Area knows is a loud squeaky ear-deafening experience. My previous mp3 player could not produce enough volume to overcome this. Sansa handles it fine. I've been able to load podcasts onto the device when I can get whatever PC I'm using to recognize it as a drive. In order to facilitate this I had to navigate into Settings/System Settings/USB mode and change the mode from Auto Detect, which is the default, to MSC. But that's not intuitive. I stumbled onto the solution accidentally. Which is to say the documentation is poor. The menu itself in the device is confusing. It took me a while to figure out that "podcasts" are hidden in the "music" submenu. The FM radio seems to work well. I've programmed stations and the been able to listen to them as long as I'm somewhere where reception is good. It doesn't have a very strong antenna. I haven't used the voice recording and playback yet so I can't comment on those features. All in all, not a bad deal for the $$.

This is the second one of these I've had. The first one's clip broke off after a few months, but I was rough on it so that didn't bother me too much. It finally died after a few years of very heavy use. I tried a couple of cheap players but they didn't come close to the features and quality of the Sansa.
The controls are very easy to use. There's a volume control on the side that is easy to get to. The power button is on top and the play, pause, ff are on the front. I use this mainly for audiobooks so I have to have the bookmarking and chapter features. Most cheap players do not have that or it doesn't work very well. The Sansa works great for books. The pause is great for when I need to stop for a minute and start back up right away. It will power down if you leave the pause on for several minutes but it will still hold your place. The fast forward is good because it will advance slowly at first then if you hold it down it will go very fast. That helps when trying to find a place in a book that I want to re-hear.
All in all I am satisfied with this player and will continue to buy Sansa products.

Best I've found for audiobooks

Most reviews I've seen of this units rave about the sound, but what I love is its near-perfect design for use with audiobooks, even those digitized at low quality to minimize file sizes. Fidelity is secondary for that type of use.
This player won't play MP4 movies on a tiny, color screen - instead it has a very legible menu system and a LONG battery playing time. When you're listening to audiobooks, as I do, the combination of long battery life between charges, bright and very readable menus, an extremely well designed menu system, simple USB connectivity and the portability that back-mounted clip gives it just can't be beat. In lines, waiting rooms, or traffic jams, I love being able to pass the time with a good audiobook. When you're ready to put it away again, it tucks into your pocket with no noticeable bulge.
The amount of memory is perfect for audiobooks, allowing enough books to always give you a selection. If you subscribe to Audible, the Internet audiobook publisher, you can listen using the Sansa Clip. And it handles just about every standard audio file format.
By not wasting power on keeping a relatively large LCD screen ready to show MP4 movies, it stretches its playing time between charges to easily cover a full normal day. Or a long drive. I have a decent MP4 player I hardly ever use - if I want a movie, I don't want to be out and about, so why not just use the PC screen or the (gasp!) living room TV? Used for audio, my video player still only has a two-hour playing time. The Sansa Clip easily goes 12 to 15 hours.
The only thing I'd add to make it better is a plug-into-the-wall charger designed for USB-connected devices, but you can get those very cheaply at Radio Shack or, for all I know, here at Best Buy. Using one of those wall chargers lets you listen through the earbuds while charging the battery. Same with a USB plug-in for cigarette lighter, so you can charge while listening during a traffic jam.. If you charge through a PC's USB data port and want to listen, you have to use the computer's speakers. But that's a very minor reservation that doesn't much affect usability.
More seriously, for me anyway, is my wife's tendency to rescue and foster homeless puppies until she finds homes for them. For some reason the puppies love to get hold of one of these units. They make very expensive chew toys. But that's hardly the Sansa Clip's fault. :)
