I've had pretty much every form of Apple media player. Up to, and including the new iPod Nano Touch. I paid 180.00 for a 16 gb Nano. After experiencing poor battery life and poor performance I returned for this. What I got? Everything I couldn't have hoped for and more, and for only $36.99!!! My only gripe with this player is that the volume rocker is kind of hard to depress. Other than that, the size is comparable to the Nano. However, as far as things that come close to the Nano, that's about it. Sound quality, in both the player and the provided headphones just makes the Nano Touch, and every other iPod and iPhone I've had sound stupid. It's really quite a feat that they got this thing to sound so good. It comes with 6 pre-loaded songs which all take avantage of the power of the player and the range of the included earbuds. They aren't Bose quality, but they are $30-$40 quality and I would compare them in that price range to Sony headphones. The features are varied and plenty. FM radio gets "ok" reception, but audiobooks, playlists, and podcasts sound better than they did on the iPhone and iPod Nano I had. Also, if the 4 GB onboard isn't enough, you can pop in a 16gb micro SIM. Which again, makes Apple look dumb. I'm not an Apple hater, I love their products. I just don't understand why they cannot provide better sound quality and more flexibility/features in an mp3 player this size. I would happily pay $75.00 for this device, because of the quality of sound and the convienence of size... Even better, I paid $37.00 and saved $143.00 from the Nano Touch return. Get this. NOW!

Easy to use and setup. You do NOT need to tun the Rhapsody CD to operate this unit. I already had MP3 files on the computer and loaded them straight in. Use primarily in the gym with great results. Nice and lightweight. East to access buttons when tired etc. Battery life so far has been outstanding. I recharge it about once a week. USB cable charges and used for downloads, so if you are stuck somewhere without your USB cable, well you're out of luck I suppose. Great deal for the money.

I've had it for about 5 hours now and couldn't be happier. It does everything well and at around $37 the price couldn't be better. At first I had some problems loading songs when I tried to load it through Window's Media Player, but I'm sure it's just because it's the first mp3 player I've owned and was just a little too dumb to figure it out!!!
If you need an mp3 player that can launch the space shuttle, teach you Latin, and wipe your posterior for you this is not the mp3 player for you. If you just want something to play music, and listen to the radio occasionally then this will work fine.
Most of the one star reviews seem to be from people who had defective units or expected too much out of it. It's not an ipod or a zune ladies and gentlemen. And whenever a company sells tons of something (and I spoke to an associate who told me that they do sell tons, and that was after I asked him if I should go with a more expensive one and he told me not to) there is bound to be a few that are defective.
BUY IT...YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!

Ok let me start off by saying that this MP3 player is small, if you didn't own the original Clip you might be shocked but I'm just saying. Anyway the sound quality is great, it's easy to use, and it's charged right out of the box. There's no alarm on these players, though, I think that would be a great addition but for the price I can't complain about what I got. Bottom line, if all you want is music, no photos or videos, this is for you.

When I decide that I'm in the market for sometning, I research as many items as I can find and try to get the very best of anything I can afford. Customer reviews are a big part of that decision too. Expensive doesn't always mean something is the best choice and I'm not a "name" buyer either. As a matter of fact, many times I avoid the big names only because that extra cost is often associated with trying to recoup advertising costs when the lesser known brand is as good or better. I won't mention the name of the current top dog of the mp3 market but after owning two of them in the past I figured I'd see what else was out there.
I frequenly visit high end audio forums and on the one I trust the most, www.anythingbutipod.com, this Sansa Clip model has gotten their top nod two years in a row. They said that the sound quality was just outstanding and most other features got good reviews too. Of course, nothing is ever perfect and what works for one might not for another but overall this thing is exactly what they said it is. I retired my Creative Zen Vision M when I lost the adapter that you have to use to do anything with it. I could order a new one for about $20 bucks but the player is four years old now and has a cracked screen. Besides, I didn't use ANY of those "extra's" on it anyway once the novelty wore off. So, simplicity was another factor when considering a replacement not only for ease of use, but cost savings too.
I found exactly what I needed with the Clip+. If you need a player that will show movies and pictures and alot of other things not even remotely related to music reproduction, this isn't for you. Most of the negative reviews I've read, except for the ones with an actual malfuntion, are of people thinking they're going to get some sort of several hundred dollar player capable of things it wasn't designed to do and only pay about 50 bucks for it in the process.
As far as the sound quality..............WOW! I had no idea just how pitiful my other players were until I actually plugged into this little thing. I rip my music as variable bit rate WMA files and unless I purposefully listen for flaws it works just fine. The one thing I do differently than most is that I'm also listening through a pair of Shure E5's. A couple of years ago these were Shures top model at $500 but they've since been replaced with the SCL series. I can't describe the quality of sound no matter how I try. I was just absolutely amazed and have no need whatsoever for the Cmoy amp to get decent sound and volume anymore. The amp wasn't to try and fry my ear drums, but rather to try and compensate for other players low output trying to push those dual armature drivers in the E5's. I don't know if the clip+ has any higher output by the numbers on paper but it sure does drive these ear buds quite well with no noticeable distortion or clipping even when "cranked up".
Another big plus is the expandable memory. You can add up to 16gb right now through the micro sd slot and I hear that they're about to come out with a 32gb disc. My Zen is a 30GB disc drive and heavy as a brick so it's amazing that the Clip+ has the potential of holding 6 gigs more and will still be as light as a book of matches. I bought a 8gb card for $15 and it works just fine in the player.
The ONLY issue that I MIGHT have with this player is in build quality. It's small and light and I'm kinda rough on things. I'm not saying it's cheaply made because it does have a very good fit and finish and feels solid but since the casing is plastic I'm just gonna have to be a little more careful with it.
Bottom line.............sometimes less is actually more and if you want simplicity, compactness, ease of use and AMAZING sound quality, you can't go wrong with this player. As a matter of fact, after you buy one of these, take the extra money you save from NOT buying a player that'll do everything well EXCEPT sound great playing music and buy a good pair of ear buds. you'll be much happier and you'll get much better sound from your player along with better comfort since most of your higher end ear buds come with multiple sleeves to custom fit them to your ears.

Can't see any advantage what so ever to an Apple product over SanDisk. Have 4 SanDisk players and have NEVER had an issue with any of them. I especially like the built in FM radios and graphic equalizer, not to mention the outstanding price versus Apple products.

I love having this little player with so much capacity as I am an avid listener of audio books which I download for free though my local library. It's simple to use, sound quality is very good, and it has great storage capacity as some books are as long as 20 hours. I listen while on the treadmill which helps keep me at it.

Great mP3 at a small size

I bought this mP3 player for use in my car, as it did not come with a 6CD changer, and my daughter has one also and said she loves it. I find the music download to be really simple using WMP, and the player is really easy to use. The sound is great except for the fact that the downloads are not all played at the same level, causing me to have to raise and lower the volume constantly. Other than that, a great player.

The Sansa Clip 4G is fun and easier to use than the Sansa Clip 2G I own. Figuring out how to navigate through the player was not stressful. There is a good instruction manual. I like how the on/off button is on the top and there is a built in memory card slot. For me having the clip is really handy. I see other people holding their music players but I can just clip mine on and go. Get this Sansa Clip! You'll be glad you did!

I got mine for about $35. It is small & light, has 4GB (expandable), sounds like most any other mp3 player, will accept playlists (although a bit tricky to generate on Macintosh), decent battery life.
For $35, it does just what I need, and no more.

A great little product that holds up very well against the more popular brand. It includes a 1 ft. usb cable to recharge the battery and transfer songs. Also came with 6 free songs, from various genres and a Rhapsody trial subscription. Transferring songs were a breeze, after I dragged and dropped one of my 320 kbps MP3 albums, it took only seconds to complete. The buttons on the front panel are sturdy and responsive, and when traveling won't buckle and change your songs when you least expect it. You can also record FM radio and your voice thru the included earphones. It comes with an extra microSD memory card slot (will accept up to 16GB) which means more music than you could probably listen to in a year. It also features Slotradio, where you can purchase separate memory cards with pre-installed music.

Very disappointed-freezes and plays out of order

Positives:
+The sound is good.
+The voice recording is good up close. Haven't yet used it as I usually do recording a lecture.
Negatives:
-Keeps freezing up. It froze almost as soon as I turned it on. I have had it only 4 days and it has frozen many times, at least 6. I have had two Sansas before and neither of them froze.
-It is not as easy to navigate as my previous two Sansas but it is much less costly
-I play podcasts and the hour sequence is important. It plays them out of order so you lose context.
I am very frustrated and disappointed in this product.
I haven't yet tried the other features like the radio. Will update after that if I can do so.

I love this MP3 Player! I have had it for about a week and am still getting used to it, I am listening to my songs in alphabetical order! I wasn't sure about the brand until I talked to my husband and he said it was a good brand and at a great price. I wanted something to clip to myself when I go outside for walks, but also realized that I needed this to block out a co-workers music at work. I love the fact I can listen to my favorite morning talk show with the built in FM transmitter, then switch to commercial free music. I currently have 289 songs and 2 GB left, but there is room for expansion. The syncing is fast, even for 1 song and the battery life is great. Remember to let it fully charge though, I didn't one day and ran out of juice.

Pros:
- Drag and Drop (BEST FEATURE)
- Small and Discreet
- Easy to use
- Micro SD Capabilities
Cons:
- Battery Life doesn't last more than a day.
- USB charging takes too long compared to short battery life.
Notes:
I went back to useing my outdated 256mb Creative Muvo MP3 player that runs on 1 triple A battery. The Muvo runs circles around my Sansa.
Other than that I'd rather have this Sansa over any of the current MP3 players that require ages to sync music to them, like the Zune or iPod.
