Purchased this to transfer files from one pc to another.

I have several of these. They are great for moving documents, and they seem durable. The one drawback that I’ve found is that they can run slow when handling larger items, such as video and audio files or a folder full of high resolution photos, for example. They are an excellent value for the money.

What sets this drive apart from other USB 3.0 flash drives is the ability to sign up for a service (Free for the first year, $9.99 per year thereafter for the 256 Gb drive, less for smaller drives) that backs up whatever you place onto the flash drive to Sandisk's storage cloud.
Other than that, it is your standard 256 gb usb 3.0 speed flash drive. I didn't have any issues in transfer speeds or playing videos directly from the flash drive on devices like TVs.
I suppose if you were not adhered to storage solutions like Google Drive, Microsoft Onedrive or others, this would be a way to easily backup things to the cloud, maybe even set it up for the more technologically challenged, and they can use it from there and ask for your help if they cannot remember how to get the online files if they lose their flash drive.
I found the Flashback online backup was easy to use. A program is installed and launched. You put the flashback compatible flash drive into the usb 2.0 or 3.0 A slot on your device. You click a button on program to link your flash drive to the program. Then you simply send or copy or cut files to the flash drive and the online backup happens automatically. Once things are backed up to the cloud, it does offer sorting and search features that are pretty useful to narrow down your quest to find a particular item. By type, date, etc.

Overall, this is your typical SanDisk flash drive. Nothing really different about this drive from all the rest, EXCEPT SanDisk's Flashback software is included. Flashback provides software-based cloud backup of the drive, so that you don't lose the contents of the drive if it gets lost, or you need to access the contents when you don't have your drive with you. Unfortunately, it relies on a piece of software that gets installed onto your machine (of course) but there's no web portal or other means to access your files other than the software. So if you have more than one machine, or you're using a shared machine, you have to install the software on every machine you have to access your files. A web-based portal to access your files would be much better.
Otherwise, it's a flash drive. The USB port is retractable, and the housing is plastic, not metal, so it's probably ok for general purpose use, but be careful with how you carry it.

Great Price for 256gb flash drive. I have multiple flash drives and use them regularly. So when you can get a large capacity one for cheap I jump on it.
