Works as advertised but man, is it small

Had laptop issues so I had to transfer just under 100 gb from the bad laptop HD onto a thumbdrive. This took all info flawlessly. But man, is it small! Came w/no lanyard or string to attach it to and as you can see by the pic it's literally the size of a dime. It does come w/a clear cover but that's no bigger than the drive. It looks like there is actually an area on the thumb to loop in a string or something to not have it just sitting there, so small. And my pic shows what I did which was find a small clear package to store it in; anything is better than just putting the cover on it and leaving it like that because it will get lost that way. Best Buy does offer cheap cases w/ key ring, so there's that. Also if you do buy this based on performance, keep in mind the price. This was a Deal of the Day exactly when I needed it; I bought it for $29.99, savings of $90...I never would have bought it at regular price

    128GB USB Drive

First of all, this thing is small. Super small. When plugged into the 3.0 port on my tower, the semi circular end sticks out maybe 1/4 inch. Great for a laptop I would imagine. Secondly, I bought this to backup photos from my Macbook Pro.(network sharing makes this very easy) It was formatted FAT32(I believe) and initially I wasn't able to download pictures to it. FAT32 has an 8GB max file transfer limit, and my transfer was much larger than that. What I did(Windows 10 by the way) was to create a new folder on my desktop, drag and drop contents of the drive to that folder, and then reformat as NTFS. That way I saved what was sent with the drive(in case I needed it in the future) as reformatting the USB will wipe it of all content. This review is obviously for people like me who aren't IT professionals, but like to learn how things work. Once reformatted, the transfer went off without a hitch. Some reviews mentioned this thing getting hot. It's been running for about an hour now(58GB is the total transfer) and it's about 40% done. The USB is slightly warm at most. Overall, very impressed with this product. It's working perfectly for my needs, and easily adds 128GB of storage space to my desktop by utilizing the 3.0 USB port. Got it on sale for $30, and in my opinion, that was money well spent.

I have a 64GB drive just like this one. Is great size and great speed when I need to transfer files. I got a great deal on the 128GB and works as great as the other one. I strongly recommend it to any one.

I got this usb to use it as my main "hard drive" since the SSD on my mac air 2014 quit. I just installed Mac OS X in it and it's been working greatly since then (2 months or so ago). The size (it has to be plugged in all the time) and the speed (3.0) allow me to keep running everything I did before. Note that the speed won't be as fast as the SSD but it's good enough even when running scripts or compiling code for class.

Most USB 3 flash drives are fast enough to run Windows from, and this one is also small enough that you don't need to worry about knocking it out of the USB port.

Great for os use for security, or storage

Okay, I am a techie. I like to use things not as directed. I specifically buy micro sized usb drives for os drives. I have the original sandisk cruzer fit (not the ultra) and it is absolute garbage. It is the slowest flash drive ever to exist. I am not joking. So I went reshopping. I decided I wanted a usb 3.0 since usb 2.0 drives are going slower and slower. Seriously 3 mb/s is ridiculous even for usb 2. So I bought the cruzer ultra fit 32 and 64gb (but assume it works the same for the 128 version). This is what I wanted! Fast fast 130mb/s transfers. Yes it does get slightly hot, but not bad. Let me explain this misconception further... I use this as my windows os drive. Yes you read that right! I do not use hdd's or ssd's in my modern computers in case of theft/malicious code drive isolation. Now a usb 2 port on your computer this would be slow. But with a usb 3.0 port, you can run windows as fast as an ssd (not exactly, but still faster boot and os use than a mechanical hdd. I am going to pick up a another cruzer ultra fit, the 128 this week. I have the 32gb which i run androidx86 with, the 64gb is my windows drive, and the 128 will be my linux drive. I fully recommend this product. Sandisk redeemed itself even though I am still questioning whether the cruzer fit original usb 2.0s were dumbed down to "influence" people to buy the 3.0 drives. Planned obsolescence? Anyway, I recommend this drive if you want something that fits close to flush so it doesnt break off, and the fact you can run operating systems at speed is exactly what I wanted! 5 stars.

I got this USB drive for my Chromebook in anticipation of the Play Store update coming in a few months. My Chromebook doesn't have an SD card slot, and typical USB drives stick out too much to be convenient to just let sit in there as augmented storage forever. This solved both problems by giving me 128GB extra (believe it's about 118GB actual) and sticking out about half a thumbnails length from the USB port. I can still easily place and remove my Chromebook from my case which is a fitted size for it. Would love to see bigger capacities from Sandisk, especially if they go on sale as often as this one goes for!

I really like these Ultra Fit drives. I purchased a few 64gb last year and the got this 128gb for #35 on sale recently. Performance is good on them (USB3), especially read speeds which will average close to 100mb/sec on a decent computer. They are about the size of a BT dongle so they sit just about flush in the port and you don't even know they are there. I like using them in game consoles like the PSTV or WiiU.

Use this thumb drive to hold music for the Sync system in my Ford. Works perfectly and is super fast. Replaced an older, full sized thumb drive that was eventually broken off because it stood up too tall inside the center console where it plugged in. The low profile of this drive will keep that from happening again. Perfect!

This drive is simply amazing in my opinion! How are they able to design & devise a portable external drive with the amount of Storage capacity it has in such a very minute form factor escapes me BUT they have & I'm totally impressed. It Performs well in the areas of transfer rate & minimal latency that is both expected & on par with a USB 3.0 device and is comparable backward compatible with older legacy USB 2.0 systems requirements. Caution, it's not designed to mount flush when inserted so it's advised to keep this in mind when in use and afterwards, especially if it's intended use will entail being used with a portable unit ( i.e. Macbook pro ,laptop etc)... Suggest that it should be unmounted and properly ejected then physically removed ,placed in the included protective case & stored /transported accordingly so as to minimize the chance occurrence of either accidental damage of the drive and /or by extension loss or corruption of the data contain within... Also.. it's literally about the size of a thumbnail & thusly extremely easy to lose, misplace, forget,...up & Disappear!!! You get the idea. lol Thank You

I love this mini-usb drives. I have purchased a few 64gb ones in the past and now picked this 128gb one on sale. These are very discrete as they fit almost flush in the USB slot when inserted. I bought the 64gb ones for use in the PSTV and now this 128gb I bought to use with WiiU.

    Nice USB Drive for MacBook

After reading many reviews for this item with many complaints and concerns about its over heating I saw it as one of Best Buy's daily deals and felt the risk was worth it. This 128GB drive doubled the storage on my new MacBook Air and although I have a great NAS system at my home I wanted more capacity for those times away or for items I use frequently. So far I've not stored much on it but I've only noticed a slight temperature increase once. I do plan to put more of my files on the device if only to see how well the storage drive works. As for its fit on the MacBook, I am cautious about sitting it down on the edge where the drive is installed but I've not had any issues with it catching or hanging on anything. For the price I paid I feel it was worth it and hopefully this doesn't change as I use it more.

It's huge for a flash drive although small in physical size. It's plenty fast. I get around 75%-95% of the advertised speeds on average. It runs a bit warm, although it's not a problem. Great for expanding an ultrabook. Be careful not losing this little thing.

It is like a hard drive that can store most of my stuffs when traveling. The speed is noticeable when connected to a usb 3.0 port. It is so compact that you should be carefully stored or have a tough time finding it.

    SanDisk Thumb Drives Are Reliable!

I have MANY SanDisk thumb drives (in varying sizes) and they have all performed flawlessly over many years. I have yet to have one fail, in spite of heavy useage. I purchased this huge-capacity unit to use as a backup disk for my (multiple) laptop computers, and it does the job as I expected -- without a problem. Advantage: easier to transport than a portable hard drive, and no moving parts. Con: It's tiny (compared to other SanDisk thumb drives) and could be easily lost, so guard it carefully! Definitely recommended, especially since it's a fast USB 3.0 thumb drive.

The performance of the drive surprisingly didn't make it the quickest Pico drive tested, as that honor still resides with the Strontium Nano. With that said, the SanDisk Ultra Fit isn't slow by any means in Windows testing it hit 147 MB/s read while OS X produced 137 MB/s read both over marketing performance. Overall, the Ultra Fit is a solid drive with ample performance that would be perfect for notebook or MacBook users in the market for capacity at 128GB. MSRP of the SanDisk Ultra Fit in the 128GB capacity is set at $29.99, and the drive comes with five-year warranty.

SanDisk - Ultra Fit 128GB USB 3.0 Type A Flash Drive Sandisk is a world leader for USB storage drives, the ultrafit is no exception! Purchased this as additional storage for a Chromebook... It's perfect! When plugged in, it only sticks out less than a half inch. Offers the fastest transfer speeds in the smallest form factor. It's so small, I never have to remove it or worry about it getting caught on anything, did I mention it's fast? Pick one up on sale for the best possible deal but it would have been just as perfect at full MSRP.

I Bought this Item for Memory Storage instead of having to Use DVd's or Cd's as in the Past as it also keeps your Computer Memory Cleaner & more Organized & to it's so Small & can be Instantly Unhooked & Taken wherever you might Need to Take it or Store it for Safety! I will Certainly be Buying more whenever I Need Them! So much better than Havin a Huge Collection of Disks Piled up & much easier to Use as well!! It's as Big as the Older Larger Hard Drives were & the Size of your Thumb! Can't Beat that!

Pros: 128GB Storage Tiny footprint (Mine stay in my laptops/Chromebooks without issue) 3.0 speeds up to 150Mb/s (burst speeds, small file transfer) Excellent for transfer of smaller files Stands up to heat without failure or file corruption 5 year warranty Cons: Speeds slow during large (500Mb and larger) file transfers Small size reduces heat dissipation (it gets HOT fast) Thermal Throttling (The transfer speeds are intentionally slowed to a crawl to prevent overheating, which would cause damage to the drive/files) Overall: I now own a small handful of them... I get another one every time they go on sale. I have 3 windows laptops and 2 chromebooks, each one has one of these in them at all times. Their tiny size prevents the drive from getting snagged on things or breaking during transit. Their large capacity holds everything I could possibly want or need. Other Thoughts: The thermal throttling has no effect on streaming content *from* the USB drive, only when downloading it *to* the drive. Just one of these is holding 120 MST3K episodes (1hr 38m each@720x480p) as well as all 4 seasons of another show I like (20 min episodes), which adds up to more than 211 hours of videos for just under 92Gb of used space... And all inside a drive smaller than one square inch. Amazing technology!
