One of the best war films of all time. The ending might be a bit sappy, but the battle scenes are all timers.

This is the greatest war movie of all time. Very vivid and realistic depiction of what World War II must have been like. Very touching storyline of the platoon's journey to save Private Ryan. Battle scenes are very realistic. Superlative performances by all the actors involved. A must see by everyone!!

First of all this is a great movie. One of the best war films ever. The 4K picture upgrade is very good. You will be very happy but where this movie really shines is in the sound department. This is one of the best Dolby Atmos tracks out there. The opening scene storming the beaches of Normandy is epic and the sound is spectacular with bombs going off everywhere and gunfire wizzing by your head. It is the kind of movie you throw on to show off your sound system. It is awesome!

Saving Private Ryan has one of the all time great opening scenes in film history. The rest of the film is pretty good too, but everyone will always go back to those opening 20 or so minutes. The film is shot in a unique way with it's heavy grain and odd shutter speeds, and this 4K HDR presentation does a great job of handling those things and giving this film it's most organic to original theatrical run look. Also, the new Dolby Atmos sound mix is AMAZING. The steelbook is a fun bullet case.

Primarily, I purchased this 4K version of the movie to get the most realistic watching experience available, short of seeing it on the big screen or viewing it live on the movie set. I have owned every version of this movie since it was a mini series on television. It is, in my opinion without a doubt, a superb visual experience and one of the best movies ever made. Though some would argue the extremely realistic scenes of killing, death and Mayhem are to extreme. I would argue, SO IS WAR ! The story is tough and yet compelling as to the choices men are asked to make and the camaraderie that drives the human spirit to a cause much bigger than winning a battle. The soldiers just want to survive and make it back home.

Saving Private Ryan is a excellent war classic really shows the terror and sacrifice these soldiers went through. This 4k remaster looks amazing images are clear and leaves and grass really pop with the HDR.

Saving Private Ryan is one of the best War movies ever made - hands down. Then you add ATMOS, OMG! I've watch this movie over and over again. You've to get the 4k to enjoy the full ATMOS sound effect.

If not the best war movie, then right near the top.

I have a small 5.1 with a decent receiver and the beginning of this movie when the soldiers are taking the beach is just glorious! I do not think I have finished watching the rest of the movie once.

This is a must see for anyone really. As war movies go, this is the one that makes you feel truly immersed in what's happening. For a 20 year old movie, the picture quality is top notch.

Probably the most realistic war depiction ever recorded. Great acting and a top notch script make this movie a must have for anyone's library. I like hard copies of movies and music, as sometimes internet access is not too great where I live (I hate buffering on streaming networks).

This film blew me away not only the story but the picture quality and sound design from a movie that was made in 1998. No film from this long ago should look this great. A must pickup.

My review focuses on the 4k disc, not the movie itself, there's plenty of reviews of that. The visuals on this 4k disc are spectacular, and most impressively, the sound is so immersive. This is the best version of this film I've seen since it was in theaters. The closest I've come to that level of engagement with the film since seeing it on the big screen.

I picked up saving private Ryan on 4 k because I read it that it’s one of the best disc to watch. And it does not disappoint. Looks amazing and sounds amazing I would definitely recommend.

Arguably Spielberg's best film makes it way onto 4k uhd with stunning picture. Color, depth and grain all make this transfer look miles better than the Blu Ray. Highly recommended.

Such an epic dramatization of the D-Day landing. Bullets whiz by you because the sound mix is outstanding. Really like the casting and story. Must buy for any movie collection.
