The Almost Mount

I am calling this the almost mount, because it is the best mount I have ever bought, almost. It comes with two metal plates, one large for something like a tablet and the other small for a cell phone. The strength of the magnet with the metal plate, which are attached with 3M tape by the way, are super strong and will keep your mobile device in place. The almost part is where I think they could have done a better job with the adhesion of the material on the base of the mount, that is, the part that would rest on your dash. Granted, most drivers will never push their vehicles to the limit as I do when going around corners, but nonetheless, if you turn hard enough, say in somewhat of an emergency maneuver, the mount might slide across your dash. This may have something to do with weight of mount as well. I am not sure of the weight of the sandy material used inside to help keep it planted, but I think if they would have made the mount a bit heavier, it would have helped to keep it planted under extreme circumstances. The other gripe I have is the height of the mount. You could use this device with small 7-8 inch tablets; however, space gets really tight, especially when mounted in portrait view. With all that being said, overall, it's a really great concept. Stick the magnet on your device, place the device on the mount, and bam! No fiddling with clips..it's a one handed operation! Stick and go! I would say under normal driving conditions and used with your average smartphone, it's a super device. And the mount can easily be removed without leaving residue in your windshield like a sticky mount would, and stowed away for security. I have a Galaxy Note 4 with a somewhat thick case. The metal plate is affixed to my phone, so I have to remove my phone case every time I use the mount. However, since it comes with two plates, you could use the small one on the phone and the larger one on the case itself. I also purchased their windshield mount, which came with another two plates. So, I have the larger plate on one of my tablets, and I will use the other plate to mount on my phone case. As far as the magnet, I have not noticed any adverse effects on my memory card or the screen. And lastly, the device while mounted can be rotated without fear of the device falling off the mount, which allows for perfect and simple orientation.

I bought this mount for my GPS to make it easier to read while driving and so far it has performed very well. The weight of the mat keeps it from sliding around on the dash I would recommend this product to anyone that has bought a GPS. It also allows you to store it under the seat as opposed to a windshield mounted version to prevent theft.

This is a great dash holder for either phone or GPS. I have a iphone6 so its large and the magnet holds the phone very securely. It comes with 2 magnets for 2 devices. The magnet can be put inside between the phone and case or put directly on the back of phone or GPS. It has a sticky mounting label on magnet. The sales associate that recommended this to me has the same thing for his own personal use and was very helpful. The store also had the mount on display which was helpful. I think anyone would find this very secure and easy to use. The price was comparable to other mounts. I just returned another one that was more expensive and not nearly as easy to use. I was looking for something that didn't need a lot of hassle to set up each time I needed to use it and this is it. Just hold your device up to the magnetic on the mount and it grabs hold securely.

I purchased this item after having one supplied with a rental car. It's a fantastic way to keep a portable GPS unit secure, but more importantly directly in view without having to look down for information. Stores easily when not in use. Also travels easily from car to car when using different vehicles. Nothing permanent that sticks or attaches but instead uses weight to hold it secure.

Although a little expensive, this holder did a fine job of holding my Garmin Nuvi on the dash of my car when I went on a trip. Much better than laying the Nuvi on the console flat, which forces one to take their eyes of the road for longer periods than when mounted on this gizmo. I wish it had a little more weight so it wouldn't slide on sharp curves but if I drove reasonably it worked like a champ. I used the small magnet to attach the Nuvi to the holder which worked fine

I initially had some trouble getting the magnet to stick to the GPS, but after a few applications it seems to be staying in place now. And it's still easy to remove the GPS device if I'm travelling, or if the car is parked in an area where I'm not comfortable leaving it visible. I'd prefer a little more flexibility in how the viewing angle can be adjusted, but overall it's very handy.

A friend of mine had one of these and I was impressed by the fact that it was easy to attach his phone and be displayed well without having to have something stuck on his dashboard - so I bought one for myself. It works great in my VW Jetta. The base stays put for the most part -- just don't take corners too fast or it might slide. I wouldn't suggest using Armor All on your dashboard, as it would likely make the surface entirely too slick for it to stay put. The magnet is strong that holds the GPS/phone to the mount. I bought an Otterbox case for my phone and stuck the magnet onto the back & it works like a charm. I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a good mounting device that doesn't use adhesives.

This is the second Scosche I've owned. However, the first that does not adhere to the window. Constant placing and removing the glass mount Scosche eventually wore out the suction cup. The fact that it sits on the dash makes it much easier to move from rental car to rental car. This was a great purchase for my work life. Only complaint...I wish the magnet was stronger.

I had the fixed mount before but when I upgraded my phone to the Note it couldn't hold it. This was the perfect answer to my problem. I can now rest my Note on the mat and the magnet still holds my Note up just fine. Plus I can Move it from car to car.

I don't just use this in the car. I take it out of the car daily to use as a portable stand wherever I go. The magnet is very strong and the weight of the mount is enough so that it stays put wherever. Doesn't slip, either. I will probably buy more of these so I can keep one in each car and have one for the house as well.

My GPS's suction cup mount broke and decided to switch to this style of mount so I wont dirty my window anymore and it is great! Also includes an extra thin magnet which I use to mount my cell phone while I am driving and dont need my GPS.

I use this on a regular basis. It is well built. My only complaint is if the base gets dusty it quickly loses its grip. Not a manufacturer problem we just have a lot of dust storms.

Good but not great. Strong magnet holds GPS device well but the base may is maybe a little rigid so it doesn't conform to different styles of dash boards very well.

Handy dashboard device mount

I purchased this weighted dashboard device mount after having previously tried suction-cup, CD-slot- insert, and air vent clip mount versions which did not work very well (my dissatisfaction with the previous versions was attributable to the fact that suction-cup models tended to fall off the window, the plastic construction of CD-mount versions tended to crack at the screw adjustment housing, and the vent clip models of course blocked the functioning of the air vent used.
In contrast, the weight of this dashboard device mount (which simply rests flat on the dashboard) is great enough that it rests firmly on the dashboard without shifting around. Unlike air vent and CD slot versions, it thus does not obscure the vehicle instrument panel. I use this mount with a fairly large Galaxy Note 5 phone and find that the included magnets that hold the device to the mount are a bit weak (though not totally ineffective) if your phone is housed in a case, but wholly adequate if you remove your phone from the case. Given that I have a dashboard top that is wide and flat enough to support this mount, I find that it has been a superior choice to the other kinds of mounting solutions I have described above.

I love not having sticky junk on my dashboard or trying to get a suction cup to stick on the windshield. This product moves easily between vehicles and with a magnet sticker on the back will hold a phone or GPS very well. I have had it on my dashboard for at least a year and while you can dislodge it if you drive like a maniac ordinarily it stays put.

I love this espcially on trips as i can set my phone in it and have directions always handy. It doesn't slide all over the place but I can move it wherever I need it to be. It is easy to just pick up phone if I need to talk and easy to put back. It stays in place nicely.
