MAGIC-Mount is a bad Magic-Trick!

Let me get to the point, it is very poorly designed, it is cheaply made, hardly flexible, and not strong. As soon as i put my phone on it the downward slump happened and only got worse. The neck of this thing CANNOT handle an Iphone MAX or any premium big heavy phone I would gather. You have to take your cell phone cover off for it to charge, and like i said It doesnt hold your phone so good luck with that. The only thing this mount has done for me is shown me the ever going lesson "if something seems to good (&cheap) to be good, it probably is". Cant wait to bring this magic TRICK back and get a real car charger again.

One that I saw was that it's too loose in the port and breaks connection. I agree that it is loose and I wish it fit more snugly in the outlet but I haven't experienced loss of connection yet. As for the second complaint of the thing not being able to hold up larger phones, I can see how this would be an issue. While I haven't tried it upright (I flipped mine upside down so it's hanging), I could see over time this thing falling over to one side or another, but that could also be fixed with a more snug fit. The third complaint was magnet strength, which I could also see, but I think is largely borne out of peoples' inability to read the directions. I read multiple people complaining that the magnet wasn't strong enough to hold larger phones or through thicker cases and they were falling off when stopping abruptly or hitting bumps; however, the directions explicitly instruct to put the magnet plate on the outside of the case, should one be used, which would help prevent that. Personally I have a larger, heavier phone with metal construction, a large battery, and a shock-absorption case built on to it, and I've had to slam on my brakes, and my phone hasn't fallen off so far. Again I think this issue might be helped by a more snug fit in the outlet, and perhaps a larger mating area for the magnet and plate, but also by following the manufacturer directions. I also think my inverse install probably helps too because there's less leverage due to it hanging rather than standing upright, but that interferes with my stereo and AC controls. So all in all, for $17 (I bought this on clearance) I think this is a decent mount, especially if you have a smaller phone, and an android that can take advantage of that PD 3 charging. I would recommend it, though your mileage may vary.

Can you confirm if the MagicPlate was applied in between the phone and the protective case or was it placed on the outside of the protective case? Thicker, rugged phone cases or dual layered phone cases can interfere with the magnetic attraction between the MagicPlates and the magnets in the MagicMount, resulting in a weaker, less secure hold. We recommend testing the placement of the MagicPlates before actually adhering it to the phone or phone case. MagicPlate effectiveness can be tested by laying the MagicPlate in between the case and the phone, without exposing the adhesive on the MagicPlate. Once this step has been taken, place the phone on the mount. If the phone slides off the mount or appears to have a weak magnetic attraction, we would then recommend placing the MagicPlate on the outside of the case.

Push it in, charging restarts. Hit a bump, charging stops because it wiggled out a little and you have to push it back in.

Do you use a protective case on your phone? If so, can you confirm if the MagicPlate was applied in between the phone and the protective case or was it placed on the outside of the protective case? Thicker phone cases or dual layered phone cases can interfere with the magnetic attraction between the MagicPlates and the magnets in the MagicMount, resulting in a weaker, less secure hold. We recommend testing the placement of the MagicPlates before adhering it to the phone or phone case. MagicPlate effectiveness can be tested by laying the MagicPlate in between the case and the phone, without exposing the adhesive on the MagicPlate. Once this step has been taken, place the phone on the mount.
