Replacing crashed drive - the same drive!

So I get stuck with an exact same (Seagate) drive as the one that crashed. (I have now installed a SSD) "Not Recommended" only because you probably won't have a choice at a Best Buy store.

Excellent Data HDD

The purchase price was $20 less than at the other stores nearby. Serial ATA interface, 1TB storage capacity, the price, and 32MB cache buffer greatly influenced my decision to buy this HDD.

Horrible

It makes a loud blow drying noise as if a fan is on the entire time my computer is on. I cannot even hear a phone conversation if i'm in front of my computer.

Not great!!

Half the time the Mac doesn't recognise it and will boot up disk utility instead where I then need to choose it as the startup disc and then will load 100%. I don't feel very confident in this drive in it's current capacity and plan to add another from another brand to use as my start up and this as storage only.
