Seagate comes through
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great large capacity hard drive. I used it in a built from scratch rig and haven't had any issues with it. It was easy to install and setup and it is extremely quiet! Great drive for anyone looking to add storage space with a solid, reliable drive.

Great drive at great value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I managed to get this drive for $189. This drive is whisper quite, not hot, and works falwless in my Nexstar 3 HDD enclosure. The feature that this drive stands out from others is 32MB buffer and 5 year warranty. Literally, you pay $.189 for every GB you get, and it's even $10 cheaper than its 750GB version. What a steal!

Great Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You can't always go by what people say about a product. I had a Seagate 400GB running my machine from when I first bought the parts and built it at least 4 years ago. That drive was purchased at the same time a place and the rest of the parts. Recently, thanks to Cool Max, my hard drive got fried because their PSU was defective and blew itself and my drive upon its installation. I had heard over the last couple of years that Seagate wasn't nearly as good as they used to be and had lost their edge but this was the only hard drive of its size and speed that I could find in my price range, so I took the risk. It has been a good few months now and I have not been disappointed. It is a hair louder during the first second or two of booting up than my original but after that I don't hear it. It has lots of space, obviously, and hasn't failed me yet.

Quick easy install and RAID easily setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super quiet, performance is great. I have a gaming system and my HD's kept dying on me so I bought this and I have not had issue one and I am SO happy with that. I had heard it could be pretty loud but I have had no issues with that. Overall for this HD is that I wish I had bought one orginally instead of trying 3 sets of other HD's.

So Far, So Good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's quite, I did some benchmark research before I bought it. My fear, after searching all over the net, was that 1+ terabyte HD's have a high failure rate. I went with the 1TB drive instead of the the 1.5 for various reasons; once installed, I've had no problems...however, I was uneasy once the package arrived.... I moved....my previous account didn't update in BB's system after I corrected the mailing address, before placed the order. A delicate HD shipped to an old address....I was concerned. I contacted my old address, they would personally hand me my shipment, along with some comments about the box. For UPS...the box was banged up...whether dropped or mishandled, I don't konw... Long story short, it works, installed easily and I'm greatful that the DOA doesn't apply to me. If it does, I'll add another review.

Good backup drive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this only for use with Windows Backup. I'm backing up a 250GB Windows drive and wanted a lot of space. This drive is spacious, silent, and has good performance. I'm happy with it after a few months of use.

For a backup drive, this works well.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using Seagate drives for quite a while now, and recently, I filled up 2 500GB drives plus quite a bit of the C: drive which is also a 500GB. I needed a backup drive and chose another Seagate. The 1 TB had just enough room to hold all the data, programs (I have 100GB left on it after the transfer), files I had to take off the PC and still be accessable as a 4th drive. It uses the 7200.12 firmware which is good as some of the drives a few years ago that had problems used a different firmware which caused problems for some people. The price here was right, and they price matched to from online to store within an adequate time. So far, I have not had any problems at all. All in all, a very good deal and the service was great.

Great Value, Better Quality, Awesome Drive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my 3 yr old desktop - It replaced a 250 GB factory HD. I installed the drive in minutes, only 2 connections, Power and Sata - The software was easy to install and use. I started cloning my old drive to the new - went to sleep - and when I woke up, I disconnected the old drive and turned my computer on - Now I have a brand new computer again! Quadrupled my memory for less than $100 - I will definitely be getting another for additional memory - The greatest thing about Seagate VS. Western Digital - This drive has a 5 year warranty, what do you have to lose?

One Terabyte
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great drive. Has good read and write times and a 5 year warranty from a name like Seagate I'm sold. I currently use this for data storage and system back up. Only problem I have with this drive is that I can't find any information on this model from Seagate's website nor can I register it for the warrany. The site reports it as an error though and not that the serial number is invalid. I've already owned this for about 3 weeks and it works fine but I'll be more confident in this drive if I got the warranty to back it up. Otherwise this is a great hard drive, plenty of room for movies, music, and whatever else you plan on using it for.

All around an excellent hard drive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have no complaints about this hard drive! I liked that it came with the necessary screws and cables as well as very detailed instructions for installation. The 5-year warranty brings peace of mind that I won't need to replace it. I purchased this hard drive for my home PC because I wanted a second hard drive for storing files. This drive is very fast, when I copy from my primary hard drive to this one it goes at speeds between 70-120 MB/second. It works like a charm, and I have absolutely no regrets about purchasing this. If you're looking for an inexpensive 1 TB hard drive, you can't go wrong with this one!

High capacity at a reasonable price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The product was easy to install and configure, as most internal hard drives are. It's also surprisingly quiet My only complaint is that the included software for copying an old drive to the new wouldn't let me enlarge the partition to fill the whole drive.

Very reliable hard drive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This hard drive was the first one that I've ever purchased. It's also the first one that I've ever replaced in a computer. It was amazingly easy to install. Actually, I didn't do the actual install, my 15 year old son did. All he did is read the easy-to-follow instructions and viola! We have our computer back. We haven't had any problem with it what-so-ever and it runs like a dream. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone whether they were a computer whiz or someone who didn't know anything about computers. It's that easy.

Good HDD, works as expected.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I switched over to a Solid State Drive for my boot device on my computer, I was originally going to use my original HDD as internal storage. However, after wiping it, the device no longer wanted to initialize, so I needed a replacement HDD. I'm sure this HDD works fine as a boot device, but I find it even better as internal storage. Installing it wasn't a problem, so long as the user knows how to set the boot order correctly. The device initialized and formatted easily, giving me plenty of storage to work with.

Works great! 1 year and counting.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Install was a breeze, quick when loading my games. I use an SSD to boot my system and I think mechanical hard drives are still a great option for cheap storage.

easy install, great cloning software
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not a computer wizard and would normally have left this work to an IT Consultant, but... after running out of hard drive space on our server, I attempted to mitigate the problem with a Western Digital MyBook external hard drive. the MioNet software related to that product is horrible, making it virtually impossible to work with, so I decided to pursue adding an internal hard drive. I thought it would only supplement the existing poorly partitioned drive, but Seagate's DiscWizard Software with cloning function offered me an option I thought I would never accomplish at my skill level - complete cloning/replacement of the old drive with larger partitions (option of proportional to new drive size or custom). The data transfer and startup worked flawlessly, and the tips about accessing the system BIOS to add the additional hard drive were very helpful - most manufacturer's would have omitted this simple information and I would have struggled with internet searches and calls to tech savy friends. Though I haven't tested transfer rate, I anticipate I will purchase a second terabyte drive and install it alongside the first to create a backup/RAID 1 before going to the store, I looked at these online reviews and had determined to purchase the Hitachi. I'm certain that is a good product and have always trusted Hitachi, but I'm glad the store did not have that product because I doubt it had the DiscWizard software that was a lifesaver for a novice like me. I was certain Western Digital would not be on my shopping list given previous experience with the external drive and from their product packaging and reviews, I'm certain I would not have been happy with that product compared to the Seagate.
