Small compact drive easy to carry and holds loads of information, photos, videos... Makes your data/files readily accessible (USB) without having to carry around a power cord.

Great performance from a portable drive. This thing is huge. Using it to backup 4 Macs in our house. Connected to AirPort Extreme to create a 4TB Time Capsule. Very awesome.

The Seagate (for MAC) 4 TB drive was easy to set up, has worked flawlessly as a back-up for our MAC desk top. It was ready to use with Time Machine right out of the box.

This is my second Seagate drive. Very reliable. I am using them to backup all of my 90,000 photos. Love the size. I put them in my small firebox when we are on vacation.

I recall the first hard drive I ever bought: 50 MB. Yes, that is MEGA bytes - thus about 0.0013% of the 4 TB drive being reviewed here. That 50 MB drive was several times larger, much slower, and cost $500 in the 1980s. With that information stored in my biocomputer, it is difficult not to be favorably impressed by a speedy, multi-terabyte drive that costs less than $200 unless it failed to work properly. I am using this drive both as a time machine backup and for storage of a few other items, and have never had a single glitch from it. I particularly like the fact that it derives its power from the USB link, thus reducing cable clutter. Many years ago I read a comment that a technology does not truly transform society until it becomes invisible to the user, and modern storage technology is coming fairly close. Of course, the true test of a hard drive only comes with time, and I might have to update this rating if it suffers a premature failure at some point in the future, but until and unless that time arrives, I can definitely recommend the Seagate Backup Plus (STDS4000400), at least on the Mac platform. Having had TWO drives from a competing "reputable" manufacturer fail before they had been in use for two years, I am a bit cautious about an unqualified recommendation. This one has been in use for only a few months at the time of this review.

This a very large capacity. Works great with Mac book pro time machine. I don't think I will ever run out of space now.

I bought the Mac drive because it was all they had in store in the 4TB at the time. Really easy to reformat to work with PC. Great drive. Fast, huge, just works great.

I was using a 2TB and a 1TB external drive and needed more storage. Everything fit on this one drive with plenty additional space. Easy to use with my Macbook Pro.

Coming from a solid brand, the hard drive performs as expected. The space covers my needs and the usb 3.0 capability speeds up data transfers.

For the price I spent on this backup disk, its the best value for the money. The price per Terabyte close to the lowest big the value I get from the disk is the high.

If you have a XBOX ONE, or XBOX ONE S, or XBOX ONE X, this is a great External Hard Drive to use. If you have a lot of games on your XBOX, get this External Hard Drive for your XBOX. You will be glad you did and it is easy to set up. Don't get a 2 tb External Hard Drive if you have a lot of games because you will eventually run out of room and will have to upgrade and buy a bigger External Hard Drive like a 4 tb or higher. If you don't have a lot of games a 2 tb External Hard Drive should be fine.

It's slim and the price for 4T of storage, well, it would have been unbelievable in the past to get this much storage this cheap. Again, very small, which is nice as I use this for frequently used data I don't have room for on my laptop main drive

The hard drive works quickly and efficiently and is so small and speak for having so much storage space. Great price too.

Excellent capacity for the prices and the drives are getting cheaper. and Its usb 3 too which is nice. Now I don't have to worry about my photo storage space. I can keep clicking away.

We looked at several backup options before settling on this one. For the storage capacity and sell price it is a hard one to beat.

What I really liked about this hard drive was that it was large capacity but did not require a power source it could be a portable one.

I am not great with a computer but this back up is so easy to use. I am grateful for the easy prompts. It has a large storage space.
