A: Hi there, I use this with my Mac and I can read and write with it. I backup my work to time machine, I also save other files there and work off of it. So far it's been fine! When I bought it they told me if I had any trouble I could return it, but it worked fine. If you purchase this just speak with someone and make sure that you can return it if you have any issues. Excellent Price & Portable Size
For being 4TBs, the size is comparable to the 1 & 2TB models. Usually 3TBs & up they are desktop size and too large/heavy to lug around. This is a GREAT storage solution, perfect for Mac's Time Machine. I would like to point out that it works MUCH better for MAC users after you use Disk Utility to format your external HD to journaled. It works out of the box, but it has been my experience that to R/W & RW you *need* to do this if you are jumping from machine to machine. I love this model. It's faster and better than the Back Up Plus Slim. Out of My WD and other Seagates, it is my favorite. I would HIGHLY recommend it. Also, the price is INSANELY low for 4TB!

Portable 4TB HD for All My Archive On the Go Needs
Within in the past two years, it seems that Seagate drives have been more reliable on the Mac platform than WD drives. With 4TBs, I can partition this drive to serve as at persistent Time Machine backup, as well as a storage destination for day-to-day documents and projects. I like this drive so much I bought two.

Small, large capacity, fast, and a great price
About two years ago (2014) I purchased the Seagate 1TB external drive and now present day 8/2016 I needed more space. After looking at numerous products I turned once again to Seagate. I was able to buy a drive with 4x the capacity (4TB) for about the same price I did in 2014. The drive is slightly taller but given the increased space it was an acceptable trade off. I use this drive primarily for backups while being mobile with my Macbook.
