It has almost no instructions, then it is confusing wich app or program you have to download and use in your computer to make it work, (much more easy in smartphones) some config change as your modem change. But when you get it working is great.

This hard rive is easy to get going. I did misunderstand the online connectivity verbiage. It is USB3.0 but only to other hard drives. You can't go laptop to hard drive. At least I can't!

A good personal cloud/NAS for the home. Setup wasn't could have been a little easier. Inbox instructions were vague and a bit of network knowledge is required. Once setup was completed everything came and using the drive became more enjoyable. I now use it for backups and streaming. Please note that its features leave files a bit open to the public so be careful as to which files are kept on the drive and always enable security features.

Very appealing design, easy setup. However, the user controls, although supposedly setup for simplicity of use, actually complicate things. Easy to figure out but very annoying. I use a Mac and have noticed sometimes access to my seagate storage is cut off and I have to close my finder window to be able to access it again. Don't know if it's common or if I messed up during setup but it is really annoying. The app is also a mess I don't even really use it. Backing up through the cloud is also a mess. I'll keep messing with it as I've only had it for a few weeks but so far it has not lived up to the reviews I read before purchasing. I don't consider myself a computer expert but I can get around with both Mac and PC better than the average person and I had a rough time so far. I must say it does do what it was meant to and it's pretty cool that you can setup accounts for different people and don't have to worry about wires and stuff. My issues are mainly with how annoying accessing it can be sometimes.

set up went well logged into drive added accounts however don't seem to be able to access one account via web and now cannot find a way to either delete account or change password. Other than that seems to work as advertised.

An employee at Best Buy was trying to dissuade us from purchasing this item, and told us it wasn't "totally secure". We opted to purchase it anyways and haven't had any issues... and we're hoping we never do.

I picked this up to expand my home network. It really is a "plug and play" unit. Once the unit was plugged in and warmed up, I was able to easily locate it on the network and get it set up. Big Fan.

Great file storage option and with sufficient capacity. The only problem is the need for a good internet connection to access files

The drive has been spinning for a couple of weeks with no problems. It is designed to lay flat so it takes more space than if standing up. It takes about 5 minutes to become ready after power on, which is a long time. I can set the power-down to 20 minutes, but the drive doesn't actually power down. So it runs all the time unless it's manually powered off. Much prefer my other NAS that sleeps and wakes up on its own.

There were some issues getting everything backed up, it's not so easy if you aren't tech savvy to figure out how to access data from cloud on Apple devices but it can be done

The Seagate Dashboard system is designed for the Windows user who stores their files in the C:/ drive. The software isn't as usable as a Network backup, or for Windows users who use additional drives for storage.
The reality is that it's an external storage device, and there are ways around the Seagate software, so that Third-Party Software can be used for backup device management.

This is a great device to use to back up multiple devices on a regular basis. You can set it up on your wireless network and configure the Seagate software to back up whatever you tell it to on whatever schedule you set. Works for all types of devices. The one misunderstanding I had when I purchased it was that the drive itself is not wireless. It plugs into your wireless Router via an ethernet cable (provided) and all communication to is is run through the router.

Very happy with my purchase. Shopped a couple personal clouds before settling on this one. Has provided reliable service, easy of use from any location and accessibility from my computer, phone and tablet. I definitely like the peace of mind of the backup for my pictures and documents.
