I was extremely pleased with Best Buy's pricing of this product, to begin with, given that it is listed as much more expensive if purchased at alternative stores. The wireless component makes data transfer painless; and, its storage capacity is so huge that you will never have to purchase another external hard drive again! Its small size also makes it easy to store and to transport, yet it is not so small that you have to worry about losing it. The set-up was easy for me, which was a pleasant surprise, given my inexperience and past frustrations with this step in particular when it comes to setting up any form of technology! Very highly recommended!

It works but not like a normal drive

So this is designed to be a portable media drive. If you access it through wifi, like from your phone or tablet, then you can't use it like a normal drive. It has its own search options, with its own media database (which you have to wait for it to refresh when you first install your media and at rare times, you have to do it again. Another reviewer said that it doesn't have security. This is incorrect. There is password protection if you choose to use that function, but the default is no protection. I bought it for use in my car. The search interface is not really usable while you're driving so if you're the type of person that likes to hit "next" constantly in search of a song you feel in the mood for that second, this isn't going to be a great match - unless you have someone driving with you to do the searching for you. But if you DO have a copilot, then this thing is awesome. 2tb allows you to have your entire music collection and tons of movies, which is pretty awesome.

My main use for this was to load it with movies for traveling without the need for internet. Thanks to its built in WiFi and DLNA capability it works perfectly. The WiFi allows me to use my iPad or Samsung Galaxy Tab S to stream movies while I am away from home, all without the need for internet. It can also be used for storing files so you could use it as additional storage for your laptop and access them without the need for the internet as well. Great product for a great price. I would highly recommend this to anyone that has the need for mobile storage.

I appreciated the ease of installation. I was surprised at how easy it was to use the wireless feature. However, if you use the wifi feature to transfer data, you have to unpair from your wifi network. Cannot have both Wi-Fi internet and this drive concurrently connected to your computer. It does come with a cable to make the physical wifi connection, though. I recommend this, with the awareness about the wifi issue.

Router Great But setup a bit tricky

I loved this drive the day I first got it. How cool would that be to have a small hard drive that can go wireless. The only problems I had was that it kept changing name of what it wanted to be. It would bounce between what I named it and the default naming. I am tech geek, so keeping this moving and connecting was just a distraction more than impossible. That is as much as I can say negative. It ran well, stored well, good speed, tough casing, Even comes with a wall plug adapter for a quicker charge. Battery worked fine. However, as with a table, I loved it at first, but after that it just sat there, being used of course, but I found it always attached to something for ease of use. So with that, I took it back and I bought 2 - 2TB backup plus drives. I am die hard Seagate to the end since the SCSI days with a whopping chain of 1GB drives totaling 9GB. They might get noisy with old age, but they don't just die.I was going to give this 4 stars, but then again, that is only because of the router setup issue. I did not have it long enough to find out if I was causing the rename or not. But either way, it kept settings. It could have been the discovery of my network that was causing it to find the mac addressed name compared to the rename I made it. I would say, if this drive could just go as a standard price, say $99, I would have just bought a second one and moved on, but for $159/$199, its hard to stare at money that ends up being compensated just as easliy with a Seagate Slim Backup Plus. You will like the wireless drive too. Its just based on your need for that much mobility. .

I've always wanted a wireless device that could be shared at the same time with other devices, and stream at the same time. This is it. Only draw back is it is a typical, slower disc drive, and not solid state.

Recently I purchased a Seagate - Wireless Plus 2TB Portable Hard Drive from Best Buy. We purchased this product for those long car rides so that our children would be able to access movies of their choice to kill the time. The product works great for that. I know at one point we had 5 different devices connecting to the hard drive. All of them were able to stream movies flawlessly. The only issue I have with this product is getting it to connect to my computer through the hard wire. It will connect through the wifi just fine but, I can not add movies to it through the wifi. I need to connect it through the hard wire to add movies. That would be fine if it would actually connect. I have tried connecting to a Windows 7 and 8 machine, as well as a Mac. All 3 machines take several attempts before the hard drive finally stays connected long enough to transfer any files to. Overall I am happy with this product. I just wish it was not so difficult to get it to stay connected to a pc through the hardwire.

I am a Self-Employed Business Owner and need to maintain document storage for my clients. This is a great item to do so. Occasionally when hooking up to the computer or attempting to access wirelessly, it doesn't always work... Definitely the device, as it does it on any of my computers.... A little frustrating, but for the storage - It's the Bomb !!!

I am pleased with the product and had no difficulties transferring files which went very quick over cable. I mainly use it for back up, but hope to tap the wireless features more in the future. I just played around with that. As far as Best Buy goes, I went to pick up the item and while waiting 15 to 20 minutes went through 3 techs who politely, but firmly insisted that the next would assist me. I held my peace (with somewhat gritted teeth) and eventually was well rewarded by the 4th tech. He was not able to find the item in the store so called around to other stores to try to get me one. Ultimately, he upgraded my order to the 2 TB unit for the 1 TB price which was pretty sweet. So BB retains me as a customer, and in fact, I just ordered 4 cell phones for the family from them. I am glad BB has survived the onslaught of Amazon and has been able to remain competitive. I am an Amazon prime customer as well. I recommend the Seagate product reviewed and Best Buy as retailer. I am comfortable ordering from both companies.

After I had read what was available for external wireless memory for IPads, I decided to get the Seagate 2tb version. The application provided on App Store makes the access to music and movies about as easy as you could ask for. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for media storage that doesn't require being connected to the web.
